    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Versailles State Park Campground

    “One of Indiana's Finest”

This is a great southern Indiana State Park with easy access from US 50. Plenty of sites to accommodate larger rigs with paved pads, picnic tables, fire rings, 30 amp, dump station and very clean restroom & shower facilities. The park offers great hiking trails, mountain bike trails, seasonal nature center, seasonal swimming pool, horse trails and 230 acre lake. Mapping Address: 1387 US 50 East, Versailles, IN 47042 | Phone: 812-689-6424 | Reservations: https://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/welcome.do

    Oak Creek Campground

    Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Surprising City Campground

Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.

    Versailles State Park Campground

    Nice family campground

Versailles State Park is a clean and family friendly camping destination that we enjoying visiting. There are three separate main campgrounds here; A B and C. C is our favorite because it is small, and mostly level lots (except the far end) with mature trees. B is larger with level lots, but usually crowded. A is very hit or miss as far as level sites. It’s very tight back in there, but more wooded private sites. It’s usually not too rowdy here unless you visit on a booked holiday weekend. The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler. They do sell concessions at the pool as well. There are some nice trails and a lake where you can fish and kayak. I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon. We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition! Overall the park is very nice and I would definitely recommend to camping families.

    Three Springs Campground

    Nice quiet clean place

Quiet lil place clean showers and bathrooms extremely friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you set up. (Was offered hoses and power cords if needed). I stayed in 4A and leveled with ease . It’s a back In Only but they are there with you to guide. Dog friendly which is a big bonus. Has some on site cats too. We are 36 class A but had many different sites available and some great looking primitive sites as well. We will be back to relax and get back to nature.

    Hueston Woods State Park Campground

Nice but hard to get good sites on weekends !

Limited level campground with full and electric hookups (does have WiFi). Best areas are A (full hookups and B (electric hookups) with concrete pads, some with slight slopes. First sites #s on A side do have larger slopes! C through E are electric only but are hilly grass pads. Other areas are back in the woods with no WiFi connections and primitive bathrooms/ outhouses (no showers) But park has great recreational activities. Book early for weekends which are almost non existent during the summer for A and B areas! Also only one dump station in B area.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

    Nice but bathrooms need updated

The campground and area is nice. The campers are pretty much all about the water activities. The big lake is nice and long with multiple no wake areas. There are a couple of beach areas. The camp bathrooms are concrete block and pretty clean but old and need updates. Great shower pressure! The camp sites are pretty far apart at least twice as far as in private campgrounds and so have ample room even for our two good sized dogs. The sites are black topped but narrow and short. More problematic is that most have slopes. A few too steep to level a trailer. There were more tent campers than trailer campers when we were there. Oddly the roads were one way but all of the sites were at 90 degrees from the narrow road making it difficult to back in. I did not see any pull through sites. Almost all have 30 amp electric but saw no water or sewer hook ups. Maybe half of the sites had any shade. There were just a few trails and those were pretty overgrown in July. No animal problems even though they had open trash bins. All had iron fire pits but many were old. We had noise problems the first night even though security was supposed to patrol till 2:00 am. We saw three newer playgrounds although those were a little outside of the camping areas and without any shade or bathrooms. Plenty of bathhouses with a few pit toilets around.

Guide to Terrace Park

RV camping around Terrace Park, Ohio offers varying electrical options and access to the Ohio River. Several parks provide concrete pads that accommodate larger vehicles while maintaining proximity to the river for fishing and recreation. Most campgrounds in the Terrace Park region remain open year-round, with seasonal operations typically running from March through October for Northern Kentucky RV Park and April through October for Thousand Trails locations.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: A.J. Jolly Park & Campground provides lake fishing access with rental options for water equipment. "The main lake is nice you can rent kayaks canoes. Or use your own boat. The boat ramp is nice," notes one reviewer who also mentioned the park's clean maintenance.

Water recreation: Campsites at Follow The River RV Resort offer river views and water access. "There is pool access, a tree for shade at every lot, a picnic table at every lot and water access as well. The store was super close by and there you are not too far from the nearest town," according to a visitor who rated the campground highly.

Hiking trails: Three Springs Campground features multiple hiking paths through wooded areas. "It has 3 beautiful hiking trails. It has a small fishing pond with a beautiful fountain that provides a neat camping experience," mentions a reviewer who appreciated the natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Winton Woods Campground receives praise for its site layout and accessibility. "I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private," reports a camper who enjoyed the concrete tables and hammock-friendly trees.

Proximity to attractions: Thousand Trails Wilmington sits close to outdoor recreation areas. "We like the location to the State park nearby for hiking trails and mountain biking trails (Ceasar Creek)," mentions one reviewer who has camped there for over four years and appreciates the campground's amenities.

River views: Tucker's Landing provides direct views of the Ohio River. "Site 22 had a beautiful view of the ohio river. The kids enjoyed seeing the barges going up and down the river. It was very quiet and peaceful. Sites were very clean," states a reviewer who visited in April and rated their experience positively despite the lack of playgrounds.

What you should know

Noise considerations: Northern Kentucky RV Park experiences noise from nearby transportation routes. "The freeway traffic is very loud 24 hours and the train comes at least 2 times per night (2am and 5am Sunday night anyway) blowing its horn," warns a camper who left after one night despite booking for three.

Site limitations: Some campgrounds feature concrete pads that may be too small for larger RVs. "They do have concrete pads. It's a shame they are worthless they are to small to park the average RV on an are on the wrong side of most rigs," cautions a reviewer about site layout at A.J. Jolly Park.

Seasonal operations: Several campgrounds limit availability during colder months. Thousand Trails Wilmington operates from "April 17 to October 30" according to their listing, while Northern Kentucky RV Park runs "March 1 to November 1," requiring advance planning for off-season camping needs.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds offer play areas for children. Thousand Trails Indian Lakes has "a nice dog park that was well maintained to give my pup some freedom to roam off leash," with one reviewer noting the campground also features "a small Putt putt course, Game room, lending Library, Basketball half-court, horseshoes, Volleyball, GAGA ball area."

Educational stops: Some campsites provide convenient access to family-friendly attractions. Three Springs Campground positions itself as "the closest RV Park Campground to the Ark Encounter-only 10 miles south," making it convenient for families interested in educational day trips.

Water activities: Follow The River RV Resort provides multiple recreation options. "There is a pool, volleyball courts and a dog park," notes a reviewer who also appreciated the bathroom facilities with "regular working toilets and showers."

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Several sites require experience with uneven terrain. "None are level looking so you will need to know what your doing to level your rig," advises an RV owner with a 35-foot Class A motorhome about sites at A.J. Jolly Park.

Hookup placement: Check utility locations before selecting sites. "Water hook ups are on the opposite side of electrical on several sites," warns a reviewer about A.J. Jolly Park, while at Tucker's Landing, "Sewage, water, and electrical were all surprisingly well maintained and clearly visible."

Cell service: Mobile connectivity varies by location. At Thousand Trails Indian Lakes, one camper reports, "I have great service here with my T-Mobile 5g internet as well as my starlink," providing reliable connectivity options for remote workers or those needing consistent internet access.
