Tent, trailer and RV camping The park's family campground is located in a wooded area near Snow's Cut.
There are 69 campsites with no hook-ups, including two wheelchair-accessible sites. Ten campsites have full hookups (water, electric and sewer), including one wheelchair-accessible site.
Each site is equipped with a picnic table and grill or fire ring. Drinking water and restrooms with hot showers are located nearby.
Camper cabins In addition to the 79 campsites, the park has four camper cabins located in the family campground. These camping cabins sleep six people in two rooms, one with a double bed and one with two sets of bunk beds. Each cabin has electrical outlets and a heating and air-conditioning unit. Outside each cabin, there is a picnic table, charcoal grill and a fire ring. Drinking water and restrooms with hot showers are located nearby.
Group camping There are also two camping areas for organized groups located along Swamp Trail and are available by reservation only. Site #1 accommodates up to 26 people; site #2 accommodates up to 40 people. These areas include two picnic tables, grills/fire rings and pit toilets. Water and shower facilities are not available. This area is accessible only by foot and is located approximately 400 yards from the Flytrap Trail parking area. Reservations can be made by contacting the park marina office.

Overall, I loved this spot, and that was largely due to the people who worked there. Very kind and did a thorough job of orienting me to their campground, amenities, and policies. I liked the rustic dirt roads throughout the campground, and the wifi was solid, so a nice mix of nature and modern amenities. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they are actively adding features and sites, including glamping, and maybe even some sort of lazy river, so I want to leave room to do an updated 5* review when I go back!

Carolina beach state park is one of my favorite places to go in North Carolina. Not only does it have an awesome campground, but it's right near one of the best beaches I've ever been to. The sites are nice and secluded, just how I like them. Most of the sites are tent sites, but they have a few full hookup sites for RVs and some cabins to rent too. All of the sites have picnic tables, fire rings, and drinking water.
Within the park, there are tons of hiking trails through a really beautiful area. I hear the fishing is also really good within the park, but I've never done it myself. The only downside is you can't swim within the park, because the currents can get dangerous. The beach is only like 5 minutes away though, so not really a big deal.
As for the beach, it's my favorite one to go to in the states. I like it because it's not really touristy like the outer banks or myrtle beach. Not a whole lot of people come to it, so it's always pretty secluded and clean. In July, the water temperature is perfect, the waves are nice, and it's great all around.

I have camped with a large group of friends at site #2 a couple of times, but this weekend, I wanted to camp with just my two boys, and site #5 (the yurt site) was available. This site was new since I had camped here last. It said it slept 6 and the website showed a pic of two beds; I *assumed* there would be four more, since it slept 6.
Long story short, just 2 beds. But the worst part was weeds growing up through the floorboards, ripped screens, doors that wouldn't zip completely, and two (purposeful) holes at the top that surely let in mosquitoes! The boy who slept at ground level is completely bitten up, despite me spraying everyone with bug spray and using my tennis racket-style bug zapper to clear out the yurt before bed.
Our trash can was completely full (I mean, at least there's a trash can, but we could hardly use it). Our fire ring was full of ashes and the grate was jammed down. The previous campers had left us a few jugs of water but also small pieces of trash scattered about. What I'm trying to say was that this site was not maintained between the last visitors and us.
The campground, though, is awesome if you like roughing it. You are allowed, thankfully, to drive to your site, but it's a hike to walk to the running water toilets, and I saw lots of people drive to them. There is a closer pit toilet but I didn't check that out.
The lake is beautiful, shallow, warm, good fishing, fun for everyone! Bullfrogs, peepers, and owls called all night. Dragonflies galore flew about. It's rustic, but relaxing. And the visitor's center has a nice exhibit on the Carolina Bays.
TravelerWe stayed in site 5 for 11 days. The Yurt had been removed but the platform stayed. We were able to get up our large tent on the platform and have enough space for our chairs. The lake is beautifully kept and clean. Very shallow. You can walk out a good 300 meters. We kayaked and fished while we were here. The rangers were helpful and checked in to make sure we didn’t need anything and kept the trash can empty. All the locals we spoke to we friendly! The down side is you are a long walk to the toilets. This is primitive so no power or water at the site. We absolutely loved it and plan to come back again!
Bring mosquito netting or pop up to keep the horse flies away!

This is a great campground. We have a 27’ trailer, a 9 yr old daughter and 12 yr old old son, and 2 boxers. This campground had everything we needed.
The water park/pool was awesome. My husband and I floated in the giant lazy river as our kids used the water slides and splash area. The lifeguard are great with the kids and super nice. The lifeguards in the splash pad area had a game of walking tag going on with all the kids. This helped break the ice between all the kids and my kids met alot of friends. Again, the lifeguards were super great with the kids. This area does not allow coolers but we bought a small soft sided cooler and it was never a problem. Alcohol is prohibited so we used aluminum reusable cups with lids to sneak in some alcohol. Everyone has these reusable cups all over the resort. So be like the jones and bring one. You can buy them at the store and they range from 10.99 - 40.00.
There was an area to walk the dogs. Although be careful of the older people who don’t leash their dog. The campground supplied clean up bags and trash cans all over the resort.
There is a small food area near the pool that offered great pizza, ice cream, chicken finger, etc. they will deliver to your campsite as long as it’s not raining. Call ahead if your going to pick up the food because the lines get long.
There is a food store that has every necessity you need from food to rv stuff.
Ok my favorite part of this trip. The wash and fold service. I dropped my clothes off at 830am and they were cleaned and ready for pickup by 1030am. Best part it only cost me 21.00. I dropped off a giant bag of clothes. If your not interested in someone else doing your laundry they have washers and dryers. A lot of them. There was always people there but there are so many machines I never noticed a problem getting laundry done.
They do activities for families. When we were they we went to the America bingo. They gave away small food prizes. The kids had fun and gave us something to do. They do give away prizes for best American dressed.
Be ready to see golf carts. Everyone here drives golf carts. There is actually golf cart traffic at night because there are so many golf carts. Really! People sit in traffic and high five each other as they go by. There is so much traffic that people set up chairs in the side of the road so they can watch the traffic. Not joking. It was a lot of fun watching the different golf carts go by. They are all decorated and the kids enjoyed seeing the light up ones. You can bring a golf cart or they rent them there.
outside the resort, there is a Walmart across the street that is more a food store then a Walmart. This Walmart offers food, alcohol, and a small necessity area. A bigger Walmart is about 15/20 minutes down the road.
The beach here is small but nice and clean. This area of the beach has lifeguards. Other resorts along this beach do not have lifeguards. Get up early and set up beach chairs. No one will take them and it will ensure you get a spot on the beach. We did this everyday. Some days we left our chairs on the beach and went to the pool and then went back to the beach later.
My only issue with this resort is the congestion. They squish the rvs and trailers in like sardines. There is enough room for your camper but your neighbors are right next to you. We had a campsite with a concrete pad and full hookups. The concrete pad was very nice to have because the sand was hard to keep up with. I couldn’t imagine how much sand there would have been in the camper if we were on sand. We have an outdoor rug and it was still bad.
Checkin: We did pre check in before we arrived and they set all our paperwork in the mail. This was great bc all we had to do was place the tag on our mirror and drive in. Nice and easy after a 9 hr drive there.
Noise: this place is noisy. Noise times are 7am- 11pm. The good thing about this is at 11pm everything is quiet. No one is on the roads. All golf carts go away and people settle down for the night.
Bathrooms: our lot was across from a bathroom. The bathrooms are clean. There are about 10 toilets and about 6 shower/ dressing areas. The bathrooms are cleaned several times a day and I never noticed a problem. The only problem I noticed was when the pumping truck came. They smelled for several hours but then it was gone.
Overall I would go back to this resort if I was in Myrtle beach.

We were looking for a last minute place, close to the coast. Found this campground by chance. Reasonably priced during peak season. We stayed 2 weeks, had a large campsite (probably hit or miss on site size), and really enjoyed our stay. Quiet site, not a lot on amenities, but nice wooded areas, friendly staff, and 20 minutes to Holden beach, 20 minutes to Southport. Really great location, would definitely stay again.
ScoutMy wife and I were looking for a place to escape for a couple of days. We found this campground and decided to go. This place is wonderful. The sites are far enough apart you don’t get interrupted by the neighboring campsites but the campground isn’t so big you have to drive everywhere. We had a shaded site, which most of the sites there are shaded, it had full hook ups and a fire ring. The staff was helpful and very easy to approach about any issues that would come up. There is a playground for kids and I could see our kids riding their bikes around with no issues at all. It is very short ride to the beach and there is a grocery store, ice cream shop, and a few restaurants nearby. I cannot wait to go back. We stayed at site 4.
ScoutWe come here a couple times a year. They are always making improvements along with keeping it clean and comfortable. Nice sites for a private campground with meticulously maintained facilities. They also have a new pool that is wonderful.
GuideClose to the beach and easy to find backside parking. Do not let the drive deter you, it was an easy daily drive. Had a site next to “permanent bathroom” and trash area. So the smell wasn’t the best towards pickup time. The spots were nicely landscaped and we felt cozy. Lots of long term campers which gave it an odd mobile home vibe though. Photo shows how close we were to bathrooms....
GuideIf you're heading here to visit the beach, it's a great spot. You're about a five minute drive to the beach which is very convenient. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well and they had a massive selection of movies to rent which was cool. The campground itself was fine, the spots are a little small and it's next to some sketchy looking properties. Some great restaurants in the area as well.

And a decent amount of space from next door neighbor at an angle. And the bath house has a private toilet, sink and shower- beautifully tiled and maintained. Lovely relaxing weekend. GuideThe staff is a big help. When I made my reservation, I got a call back to see if I had any questions. The lady at check-in led me to my site and even helped direct me backing in. There is a small camp store with"essentials". We are only a few miles from the beach. The sites have full hook-up, fire pits, and picnic tables. Not a new place so lots of great trees for shade and to block the sea breeze. There are a few full timers. You get a lot for your nightly fee. I recommend this place for short stays and vacations. Check the web site or call for specific questions. They are eager to assist.
ScoutWe have traveled from Texas to Virginia and now down to NC and I think this is our favorite spot. A trolley can take you to the beach for a small fee, the people working here are nice, and the site is expansive with quite a few amenities. We would certainly come back.

GuideOur first time here. The staff called ahead of time to coordinate our days better, as we had two different sites scheduled because of overlap. They called again on day of arrival to be sure we were safe and if we needed anything. The check in was seamless and there's a small camp store. The campground is very rustic, but it's clean, well kept, adequate space to maneuver and campers are considerate and quiet. Seems to be several monthly campers here. Sites are easy to access. 30/50 is solid, sewer easy access and water pressure is good. Didn't use cable, so can't speak to that. WiFi is also pretty solid, even at the back of campground. Nice pond with seats and a swing back at primitive sites. Enjoying our stay here and would definitely stay again.

Dog friendly with a great park for them. Super easy hook ups and great Wi-Fi! I’ll definitely‘s stay here again on my way back after winter! 
ScoutWhile the grounds are pretty, very tight sights. Bathrooms are quite dirty and strong sewer smell all around. Many unsupervised children…one even was crawling under our RV. There are definitely no hiking trails to speak of…followed one only to come away with ticks as it was very overgrown. I suppose all this can be tolerated, however the automatic gunfire during the evening/night was very disconcerting.
ScoutThis place has everything we need. Decent size sites, water, 30Amp, sewer, great WiFi (repeaters positioned at every other site, especially in the new section). There is also a playground, dog park, camp store, nearby grocery and other stores, etc. spent 5 nights, Sun - Thu night and really enjoyed it. Some monthly campers around who were friendly and helpful. We were a 5 minute drive to the beach and not far from other sites that we were looking to visit. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We were led to our site and the guide made sure we were OK and would have stayed had we needed help. Will do this again when visiting that area.
GuideA short 5min drive is all it takes to get to the beach. There's also a Food Lion and a Hardware store just 1mile away for the necessities you may need. Mostly quiet. Only dislike was the security light that was over our camper on site 21. full hook-up, which we only used water/electric. Bathrooms are very nice and clean. Great people!!
RangerWe loved our time at Holden Beach RV Park! The staff is so friendly, and the campground is beautifully maintained. It’s in a perfect location too.
Upon check in we were escorted to our site, and they even helped us back in. The bathrooms and laundry were clean and kept up well during our stay. There’s a small playground and a pretty big dog park. We were there during Thanksgiving, so they had a potluck meal for all of the guests in the park. We really enjoyed that!
The gift shop is super cute, and they have the biggest DVD library for free rentals!
The only negative was that our site seemed to be one of the few that directly faced another site even though it did not show that on the park map. We ended up being super close to the other campers (so much so that we were basically all around the same fire pit) which was a little uncomfortable since they were strangers.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! We will just make sure to pick a different site number next time.
