Clean and Family Friendly

Such an awesome KOA, bathrooms were immaculate. Free coffee everyday and so many activities! Great communication, they text before every event, and if something is lost they send out alerts. Loved our stay!

Surprisingly quiet

Just off the road. Close to lots of places to eat and beaches. Seemed to have lots of activities some places even had chimaeras and Weber grills.

Over night stop

We did an overnight stop here.

The campground was ok, but our site sucked. It was under construction, so the yard was tore up and we had no picnic table. The site was super uneven, so we didn’t pull the slides out. Sucked about that picnic table for that reason especially.

The campground is ok for a holiday.

Overcrowded - for kids & families

Satisfactory at best - lots to do fir kids - too much light, noise, construction, activity for a quiet nights rest. We did have morning shade at our site which was nice.

campground Close to the Beach and other Historic Places

I hesitate to give it five stars because of my particular campsite. It was difficult to get into because of the trees, especially since I had a full sized truck. I had to back up, pull forward, back up, pull forward, etc., the first time I pulled in. I love trees, but taking one out would be a lot better for the campsite where I was.

With that said, the campsite did have many good things going for it. It had a sheltered picnic table with a light, a charging station, and power outlets. However, if you are planning to run a cord between the power outlet and your tent on the tent pad, you need something long than twenty-five feet. I didn’t realize how far away the power was going to be, so I had to go to a store in town to get another extension cord. The site is sandy and level. The tent pad was also sandy and fairly level. If you are going to set up a tent on the tent pad, I suggest making sure it is not too big of a tent. My 8’ x 7’ tent fit, but larger tents may have a problem if there are tie-outs.

Another problem with my tent site is that it was so close to the bath house, which may not seem to be a problem to most. However, the lights on the bath house are on all night, and they light up the area as if it were a ball field. The bath house itself is really nice—one of the cleanest and well-kept bath houses I have used in my camping experiences. They are individual toilet/shower combos and can only be accessed via a code. However, the water pressure in the shower is so weak it would barely wet a frog’s back(slight exaggeration, but it was still VERY disappointingly weak). The bath house is handicap accessible and has a ramp.

Another problem I experienced was the noise. If it wasn’t the barking dog, it was what sounded like a garbage truck at 4:00 in the morning. There was also road noise from Market Street.

The reason most people come here is because of its proximity to Wrightsville Beach and other attractions, but there are things to do at the campground. There is a swimming pool, a playground, a beach volleyball court, and more. It also provides information about tours, and I believe it also has kayak rentals.

Overall, I would recommend this campground, but I believe it is better suited for RV campers rather than tent campers.

Convenient Location Roomy Sites

Very nice Roomy Sites. Convient to Wilmington Downtown, Wilmington Beaches, Highway & Airport. Clean well maintained. Friendly Accomodating Staff. Love the Palm Trees throughout. Pet and Kid Friendly.... Please Spay or Neuter Both lol. Big Negative for us was the POOR WIFI. STAFF TRIED TO GET IT RUNNING IN OUR AREA BUT ALTHOUGH CONNECTED, VIRTUALLY USELESS TO VIDEO. RELIED STRICTLY ON OUR CELL PHONE CONNECTION.

Great feel for an urban campground

My family and I stayed here for a week in November. My wife worked from the road while I taught school. The WiFi was strong and the employees were helpful and informative. The laundry was acceptable but expensive. I liked that we were able to have family dinners and experiences while still staying socially distant. Our site was a pull thru which was great.

We would definitely stay there again if visiting Wilmington.

Close to the Beach and the City

We camped here when we went to Wilmington for a 5k. We stayed here for just one night and had a good time. The campsites are close. The camp store had everything you needed in case you forgot something. It is in a high trafficked area so don't look for peace and quiet. The playground was awesome and included a cool wooden pirate ship. The grandkids loved it! It was a nice place to stay for the night. The staff were friendly and helpful

Great Urban Setting

Sites were open and level. All roads were One Ways which was nice for flow. WiFi was strong and reliable, actually quite surprisingly nice). Firewood was a bit expensive.

Laundry was acceptable but not impressive. Playground was nice with many apparatus but the ground was all sand (not my favorite).

We were close to groceries and many amenities. I only wish were were closer to the beach but that’s not their fault. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing staff & campground!

Being a travel nurse, I go through many campgrounds however this has by far been my favorite. The little things like the laundry being 24/7 to the staff who truly made the campground amazing are things that I’ll remember and am very thankful for! The staff were spectacular and very helpful/friendly!

Near the beach.

Wilmington  Koa is a nice campground with full hookups and all the "stuff" for the family to enjoy. It has a large pool, but no kiddie pool. They are working on the bathhouses so its a work in progress. Even so they are nice. The showers are very small, but useable. The location is near just about everything. The main road turning into the place can be jammed with traffic at times. The state has been building a bypass for the past 10 years and its still not finished. The camp spots are very spacious and the hookups are easy to get to. The workers are always friendly and willing to help. They have a nice dog park. We have stayed there numerous times and always have a good time.

Nice spot with warm pool

The KOA was kept up to good KOA standards. The pool was big and warm, easy for swimming while maintaining social distancing. One of our favorite parts was that you could walk a short path to a delightful coffee shop with great food and drinks and nice outdoor seating. Our girls also enjoyed the smooth roads for skateboarding. Because of Covid, many of the fun features were closed (playground, Gaga pit, jump pad).

An Oasis slid behind a busy part of town

A campground that you quickly feel at home.  Level spacious sites, most with a good shade tree, allows for a quick set up.  To find the campground you have to pay attention and this is both a blessing and a challenge.  The campground is convenient to downtown Wilmington and a short drive to Wrightsville Beach.  Plenty of shopping and other entertainment nearby if the weather doesn't cooperate. The park is clean the showers are hot and the pressure is good.

Well organized and clean and surprisingly quiet

We loved it here, it was right off a main road but quiet. The deluxe tent sites were very nice with a covered sitting area and soft pads for our tent. The sites were well spaced as well. Bathrooms were very clean and a short walk and the facilities here were useful. We did a day trip to the beach which was a short ride and into downtown Wilmingon which was also a short ride. Restaurants across the street were fun with pool tables and darts. Would stay again.

Convenient, Clean, and Friendly

This campground is a little farther than I think most people would like to be from a the beach, but it’s so professional and friendly! It’s clean, it’s close to downtown Wilmington and there is SO much to do there. There is an RV wash right next door! There are a lot of gray farmer’s stands and fresh seafood stands nearby too! We choose this for reliability and friendliness over the beach campgrounds because the service here is amazing. It’s not the most shaded outdoorsy space, it does have a ton of family activities, but the people are what makes the difference for us here.
