  Resort like, safe, clean

  This is a wonderful, clean, level family type RV resort.

  Two pools, one Jacuzzi, 3 Dog parks. Volley ball, playground, putt putt and moreEvery Friday, Saturday and Sundays they have free waffles for small donation. They also have organized activities.

  They have a small store as well as propane.

  Each site has 30 or 50 amp and 20 amp.

  Each site has a picnic table.

  18 private bath suites and Laubdry facilities.

  Goic for short and long term stays.

  Price based on time of the year.

  You must call and ask.

  Eeveryone is super friendly and helpful.

  Thousand Trails Lake Gaston

  Had everything we needed plus a beautiful lake

  We stayed here for a week while we were both working. It was our first time using our Thousand Trails membership and it was pretty fun! I don't think I've ever stayed at an RV resort like this where you have a lot of people who have pretty permanent type places. It seemed like people view their RVs here like their weekend cabin and they just leave them here and come and go. 

  The lake was beautiful and every morning we would take our chairs down by the lake to have our morning coffee and watch the mist and the fish. There was a little shop where we could get supplies, food, coffee, etc. We pretty much had the showers and bathrooms to ourselves since everyone has them in their RVs. Was also nice to do a load of laundry. 

  It was a lot of fun to walk around the campground and look at people's set ups (also a little eerie since very few people were there since the season was winding down) and a full loop of the campground was about 2/12 miles...not a bad walk!

  Nice campground

  We spent one night here on our way north. We arrived late and left early. Staff was great met us at the gate and escorted us to our site. Mostly long term renters. Site were a good size and we had a pull through site and never had to unhook the Jeep. Full hook ups.

  Plain Jane Camping

  This campground is adjacent to the NC State Fairgrounds. Sites are spacious and full hook ups. Gravel roadways and grass/gravel sites. Most sites appear to be fairly level; we did have to use blocks on one side. There are no amenities so you must be fully self-contained. There seem to be quite a few long-term campers. Campground is quiet and security staff very friendly. Equestrian facility is next door. Sites are first come first serve; no reservations.

  Thousand Trails Lake Gaston

  Been here before, love this TT campground

  This is a thousand trails RV resort. the road to the campground is fine. The campground is an older one and bigger rigs will find it a bit of a challenge to get into areas, especially the area where there is just water and electric. That is another issue, most of the park is water and electric. Lucky for us we usually come into this park early in the season or latter. 

    There is an area near the lake that has pull thru sites with WES setups 200 to 323 ( some small cabins and tiny houses are included in this number set ), I believe there is 31 total, all 50 amp, 22 are pull thru.

  The camp sites from #1 thru 174 are 30 and 50 amp setups and the area is tight to maneuver thru you are definitely going to work at getting bigger rigs in and also, leveling is a bit challenging in some spots. But 90% are in partial shaded areas making it a comfortable feel once settled in.

    Our ATT and T-Mobile hotspots worked as did the cell service ok. Most of the amenities were closed as it was early in the season. I will say, the laundry is small for this big of a campground. They were also doing work on the office but that is supposed to be completed soon. All in all, the views of the Lake are spectacular and there is plenty to see and do during the peak season for families.

  They have a separate dump station as well as a dumpster area as you first enter the park.

  Happy Trails RV Park

  Interesting Choice of Name for this RV Parking Field

  I'm not sure if Happy Trails is meant to entice you to come to this roadside RV parking lot (which let's be fair, isn't exactly a parking lot as there really is no concrete, but rather, more of a field, akin to Bonnaroo or some indie music festival) - or perhaps the name alludes to what you will be feeling once you leave the place and carry on down another trail.  Not sure.  All I can say is that I felt very unhappy - no bummed - when I visited this place.  Of course, if its late at night, you're tired of driving your big rig and just want to pull over for the evening, I get it.  But really, this is pretty bad.  I would recommend that you simply pass by this place and head about 200 paces further to Raleigh Oaks RV Resort & Cottages, which is like a carefully manicured RV resort experience compared to this drive-by RV road stand.

  Enfield - Rocky Mount KOA

  No Frills, Full Hookups I-95 Waysration

  Excellent place to camp overnight or for a couple days to rest while traveling the I-95 corridor. Full hookups to empty your tanks (heated water to avoid freezing in cold), level sites - mostly pull through so you can get in and out with ease. Large open areas to walk the pups and a decent sized dog run so they can get exercise (I can’t run that fast :) ). They has a small pool for hot summer months to cool off and refresh. Camp store has needed essentials but don’t expect to find everything a camper can desire. Campus is sparsely appointed but it has all that travelers really want which is a quiet place away from the noisy highway that is safe and has the site amenities of bigger and fancier campgrounds. I rate 4 stars because it serves its intended purpose, has level sites (didn’t even need to unhook to get level) with full hookups, and it’s priced for a quick overnight or even long-term stay if you are of humble needs. We will make it a regular stop on our journeys south and north again.

  Jordan Dam RV Park

  Great no frills campground.

  We stayed at Jordan Dam RV Park for a year while waiting for our house to be built.  The campground is a great, quiet place.  There are not a lot of recreational amenities, but there is pond for fishing.  The site maintenance man, Earl, will direct you into your site, which was a bit tricky in the site we were in.

  The RV Park has on-site propane filling, and if you leave your tank on your picnic table, Earl will come and fill it.  This was extremely convenient during the winter months, when we were filling one of our tanks every few days.

  If you are looking for someplace close to Jordan Dam boat launch, or are looking for a long term site, this is for you.

  North Carolina State Fairgrounds

  Over-Priced Parking lot !

  I have stayed there twice over the past couple years.  The only changes to this Campground are the Prices !!  ..which keep going up (to $35 day now).  For this, you get a parking space with full hookups.. that's it, no Amenities whatsoever!

  It's pretty much a "Camper Trap", because there are so few options in the North Carolina Piedmont.  Spaces are tight, a lot of the people there are long-term workers, that totally ignore any "Dust" decorum, speeding through the area as if they were on public streets!

  This is a first…never given a PRIVATELY OPERATED RV PARK the highest possible rating, but this place blew us away…sites were huge with large space between...everything was immaculate…obviously owners take enormous pride in their property and care for their customers! Hands down THE BEST privately operated RV park we have ever experienced!

  North Pointe RV Resort

  Good overnight not long term

  Stayed here in August 2022 then came back to stay over winter. If you stay short term you will stay up front and long term in the back. The staff has degraded to the point where they do not follow the rules. Aggressive dogs, staff with dogs off leash, staff partying with long term campers who don’t pay attention to quiet time especially on weeknights (was told that the campers were in league with new owners and ignore), got charged two months straightfor propane that I never got.

  More yearly/monthly than weekly/daily

  This is a decent place but it is for sure mostly for more permanent people. A lot of people have complete build irons and have turned their trailers into non-movable stable units.

  Since it's mostly geared towards people staying long term there are a lot of short-term facilities like bath houses laundry and things like that.

  I would not recommend to come here unless you're planning to stay for a minimum of 2 to 3 months.

  David Bannister runs a very nice park. The spots are well spaced out. He has daily, weekly and monthly rates. No pool or amenities, just a nice place to park with a concrete pad and full hook ups.

  RV Resort Conveniently Located near Interstate 95

  The good news about this RV park is that it is conveniently located next to Interstate 95. The bad news about this RV park is that it is conveniently located next to Interstate 95. Needing to stop for the night on the way home, I found this place along the way. The rate was reasonable, and it was close to fast food places. It was late, and I didn’t want to cook supper. I think that most people stay at this campground for one of two reasons. One is that they are traveling either north to south or south to north, and it is just off the Interstate. The other reason is for the shopping. This area between Selma and Smithfield is a mecca for shoppers, especially during November and December. There are dozens and dozens of outlets, and people from hundreds of miles stop at them. That’s why this RV park is a great place for people who fit into one of those two categories. This RV park does NOT accept tents. It is strictly for RVs. As far as amenities, there is a clubhouse and a large swimming pool. I didn’t see anyone in the swimming pool, especially since it was December. However, I can imagine that it would feel great during the summer, and it seems large enough to handle lots of people. Some of the“picnic tables” were interesting. Many of them looked more like patio furniture, which is a nice touch. All of the spaces that I saw were pull-through sites, and they were level with water, sewer, and 30 and/or 50 amp hookups. The campground roads were paved, and the RV sites were gravel. There was also a dump station. Other than the swimming pool, there is also a large pond in which you can fish without a license. For the younger children, there was a swing set, which surprised me. For a campground this size, I would have thought they would have had a large playground. On their website, they list a playground. Either I missed it, but I don’t think I did, or they don’t expect too many children staying here. There is also a fenced area for owners to walk their dogs. Although there is Wi-Fi, I got the message that the internet was not available. I was happy to see that their bath house was heated, although I never could get warm water to come out of the faucet. Fortunately, the shower had hot water. The only complaint I would have about the showers is that they are small. The area to dress and undress was just large enough to turn around in. I would imagine that most people who are overweight would have a difficult time, but then again, this is an RV park. Most people would be taking a shower in their RVs, so if you are in a teardrop like I was, you would appreciate a larger shower. The worst part about this campground, for me, was the noise from the Interstate. I thought it would die down during the night, but I was wrong. There was also the sound of trains—at least seven or eight times during the night. In the campground office, they have a little store with canned food items and a few other necessities. I got there late, but the hostess was very nice and pointed out everything I needed to know. Overall, it is everything you would expect from a top notch RV park, including the amenities and the services, but I wouldn’t want to stay there for several nights unless I wanted to hear traffic 24/7.

  Happy Trails RV Park

  Excellent grounds

  Very clean and well maintained. Best bathrooms we’ve ever seen in a resort/campground. Staff is great, even though they are still no contact check in as of July 2021. We pulled up at 1 and our paper was waiting. Very easy in and out, large long spots, with great yard for each spot. Three dogs parks, two pools, and much more. Lots of long term sees but very very clean and welcoming. Would highly recommend. We stayed here visiting Raleigh, about a 30 Mind drive away. This campground is far enough away from interstate there is no road noise, yet close to outlets and city for dinning. A+!

  Enfield - Rocky Mount KOA

  Decent Campground

  My daughter needed to move out of her dorm at ECU and this was the closest campground that had a site available over Labor Day weekend. We were happy to be as close to her as we could get, and we appreciated being able to stay at this campground for 2 weeks.

  This KOA is taking COVID serious, so during check-in they had us stay in the vehicle and call the office. A couple of minutes later, someone came out with paperwork and directed us to site number 2. When I got out to check the site, I noticed there was no sewer hook-up, so I asked one of the grounds crew guys who was nearby. He told me I was not on a full hook-up site. 

  I was pretty sure I had booked full hook-up because we planned to be there for 2 weeks, so I went to the office and asked. The owner proceeded to give me a lecture by about how I need to be more careful when booking on-line because their computer showed I only needed power and water. I asked the owner why he thought I would book a site with no sewer, if I planned to be there for 2 weeks. I had more I wanted to say about his attitude, but I bit my tongue because this was the only campground near where we needed to be. Fortunately, they had a full hook-up site available, so I was able to pay a few dollars more a night to ensure a comfortable stay. When I asked which site I was going to, the dude wouldn't answer me. Thinking he hadn't heard me, I asked again and he huffed. Then he said, "Don't worry about it, just follow my sister and she'll take you to the site." Again, I bit my tongue.

  The sister took us to site 25 and after she gave us instructions concerning their very specific traffic pattern, she said, "I'm sorry about my brother." After reading other reviews of this campground, I'm pretty sure that was not the first time, and won't be the last time, she had to apologize for her brother's rudeness. 

  When we got to the site, we were happy to see it was extra long, so there was plenty of parking for the truck, the rig & my wife's car. The site was relatively level and the water and power were well maintained, clean & easy to access. The sewer hook-up, on the other hand was not ideal, as the pipe was nearly touching the leg of our neighbor's picnic table. I checked and sure enough the site on the other side of us had their sewer pipe right next to our picnic table. That said, the gnats were so bad at the campground that we didn't spend much time outside, so we barely noticed our neighbor's sewer line. 

  Cell service was excellent, which was good because WiFi was not ideal. They have satellite internet, so it was slow and barely accessible. They gave us passcodes for two devices, and the code is good for 3 days. So if you are there longer, you need to request additional codes. 

  The campground had one section for people who are there for extended stay - mostly construction workers doing nearby highway work. They were quiet and did not bother anyone. The rest of the campground was used by people passing through. The campground is close to I95 (there was no highway noise), so we seemed to have new neighbors every night. 

  All things considered, it was a decent campground and met our needs. I am not sure I would stay here for an extended time again, but if you're passing through or looking for a weekend getaway, the Enfield KOA will work.

  Hibernia — Kerr Lake State Recreation Area

  Beautiful park for RVs and tents

  Hibernia park on Kerr Lake, Henderson, NC has plenty of RV spots overlooking the lake. Some spots give you a personal sand beach. Many shaded sites for RVs and tents. We stayed Sun-Tues for a short getaway. Most Thurs-Sun were booked. Campsites on the loop in area 2 are large with plenty of space between campers. No issues with the water and electric at our site. We did not use the dump station at the front of the park. Park is incredibly clean. Rangers drive through several times during the day and right before the gate closes for the evening. Due to COVID the bath house was closed. Beautiful lake views with wildlife all over. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay!

  Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

  Awesome State Park

  This was our very first full-time RV park. We loved being in the park and it easily accommodated our 39ft. Class A. Back-in site but with plenty of room to do so. Each site has water and electric hook-up. Sewer however is a dump station. The sites are big with a picnic table, fire pit and lantern hook. Plenty to do here with the lake at your fingertips. Great first experience.

  Moccasin Branch Campground — Raven Rock State Park

  Awesome State Park

  The state park has excellent hiking trails and the RV park is located in an excellent location to use them.

  The sites are huge, level, and clean. The bathhouse is clean and modern. While there aren’t many recreational amenities besides the hiking, the price makes this park an excellent value.

  Steele Creek Campground

  Nice Facility, but no real internet access

  We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of September. Campground is quite large with a mix of permanent campers and nightly campers. We were in a full hook-up site in section G (site G-17). We talked with the manager on the phone ahead of booking and were told that cell coverage was not great, but the campground had WiFi and we should fine to get some work done. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, we found there is not WiFi at the campsites. There is WiFi at the campground office and the password is written on the bulletin board outside. However, after connecting to WiFi, it did not have internet connection. The office was closed on Sunday afternoon and we could not call anyone. On Monday we were able to contact the manager and he said he had WiFi in his office that worked fine. If you need WiFi or cell service in your RV, this is not the campground for you. Campground is situated along the creek. Has playground, pool, camp store. Sites have old picnic tables and fire rings. However, all the fire rings were removed on the first day we were here.

  Cotton's Camp Ground

  Roadside RV Parking Lot

  I don’t know who Cotten is, but whoever he might be, he discovered this little roadside RV parking lot for your RV experience. While a bit out-of-the-way, if you’ve got one of those incredibly large mobile homes on wheels, then this particular RV location just off of I-95 near Moncure may just be the perfect spot for you. With ample slanted and elongated parking lanes for your parking pleasure, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 30 / 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections. 

  There’s the standard picnic table, fire ring / BBQ, garbage receptacles and even a community fire-pit. The hosts are incredibly nice and offer pricing by the night, week and month. Overall, the community is inviting and friendly and there’s at times some planned activities throughout the week (check with the front desk). While there’s not a ton of amenities to pick and choose from, this location does come with decent traffic-watching activity. 

  Near this RV parking lot, you do have access to Deep River and Haw River (both in Moncure), Cape Fear River (remember when Robert DeNiro was a great actor – yeah, that film was made here!), Harris Lake (New Hill) and Jordan Lake (also in Moncure). 

  Insider’s tip? I have but a few: (1) for a mean burger, head on over to FAT Juniors Grill; (2) while no one seems to hike in these parts, there’s some decent hiking paths in the White Pines Nature Preserve that run parallel to Deep River; and (3) there’s a great congregation just waiting to welcome you over at St. Matthew AME Zion Church (get there early as the pews fill up quick!).

  River Ridge Golf and Camping Club

  Great family campground.

  River Ridge Golf and Campgrounds is a great camping spot. It is mostly deeded lots and for owners and family only. They do have a few lots for rent for RV’s, or camper trailers. 

  There’s so much to do there. They have a store, a pool, golf and putt putt, a chapel and fishing pond. Everyone is respectful and friendly. 

  This campground is open year round. They have some lots for sale. They are working hard to bring this campground up to today’s standards. 

  It may not look like it, but this is a hidden gem.

  70 East RV Park is a nice park with spacious lots. It's in a great location, nearby anything you need. It's family and pet friendly. Neighbors are friendly.

  Medoc Mountain State Park Campground

  Great little NC State Park campground

  This was our first time at Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister, NC. There are bike trails, horse trails, and walking trails at this state park. When we went the trails were too wet for us to do but I understand that they are beautiful right along the creek. We were there with a group of Bigfoot enthusiasts and we found out that this area of NC is known for Bigfoot sightings. The group had a thermal image hit the night before we got there. Anyway, the RV park and Tent sites are intermixed which I kind of like. The campground is like a figure 8 with the top of the 8 as mainly RV with electric sites and the bottom with sites without electricity. Most sites were recently graveled and were in good status especially on the tent side of the site. You could park a small RV in any of the sites, even the “tent” sites but there would be no electricity. There is no water or sewer at any of the sites but there are water faucets spread around the campground to fill freshwater tanks and there is a dump station out the way out of the camping area. This is an older park so it is Not setup to handle larger RVs. Angles getting in and out of some of the sites will be challenging for some RVs. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our time there. Fred, the camp host, was the best camp host ever and fun to talk with.

  If you are ok with dry camping with electricity only, this is a great place to try and especially at such a low site cost.
