Read this No BS

What i loved about Happy Trails No kids, No pool, No mini golf, No game room, etc. I guess what makes it great is most there are work force travelers or down sized people    no one there is on vacation it is purpose driven.  That might be good or bad either way its life, so the polar opposite of vacation does not want or need loud damn kids running around or mom and dad America wondering around in the way. If you are looking a long or short term stay that is at a safe simple place. this is you Larry the owner is a great guy and goes above and beyond to accommodate everyone. Please understand one night stays and people on vacation are welcome just don't expect for an entertainment guide to be waiting with pamphlets and drinks with umbrellas. If you need Wi-Fi then get a hotspot and stop depending on the rest of the world to supply you with internet. Enjoy Mark.

Interesting Choice of Name for this RV Parking Field

I'm not sure if Happy Trails is meant to entice you to come to this roadside RV parking lot (which let's be fair, isn't exactly a parking lot as there really is no concrete, but rather, more of a field, akin to Bonnaroo or some indie music festival) - or perhaps the name alludes to what you will be feeling once you leave the place and carry on down another trail.  Not sure.  All I can say is that I felt very unhappy - no bummed - when I visited this place.  Of course, if its late at night, you're tired of driving your big rig and just want to pull over for the evening, I get it.  But really, this is pretty bad.  I would recommend that you simply pass by this place and head about 200 paces further to Raleigh Oaks RV Resort & Cottages, which is like a carefully manicured RV resort experience compared to this drive-by RV road stand.

Happy Camping!

Excellent grounds

Very clean and well maintained. Best bathrooms we’ve ever seen in a resort/campground. Staff is great, even though they are still no contact check in as of July 2021. We pulled up at 1 and our paper was waiting. Very easy in and out, large long spots, with great yard for each spot. Three dogs parks, two pools, and much more. Lots of long term sees but very very clean and welcoming. Would highly recommend. We stayed here visiting Raleigh, about a 30 Mind drive away. This campground is far enough away from interstate there is no road noise, yet close to outlets and city for dinning. A+!

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities does Happy Trails RV Park offer to campers?

Happy Trails RV Park features exceptionally clean and well-maintained facilities, including what many consider outstanding bathrooms. The campground offers spacious RV sites with large yards for each spot, providing ample room for setup and outdoor activities. The park is particularly pet-friendly, welcoming dogs with designated pet areas. The layout provides easy access with pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs. Unlike many family-oriented campgrounds, Happy Trails doesn't have recreational amenities like pools, mini-golf, or game rooms, making it ideal for those seeking a quieter, more purposeful stay.

Are there photos available of Happy Trails RV Park?

Yes, photos of Happy Trails RV Park are available online. These images showcase the campground's spacious RV sites, well-maintained grounds, and facilities. To view the most current and comprehensive collection of photos, visit the official Happy Trails RV Park website or check popular camping platforms where campers regularly upload recent images. Visual documentation of the park helps potential visitors get a better sense of the layout, site spacing, and overall environment before booking.

What do reviews say about Happy Trails Resort?

Opinions about Happy Trails are divided. Many appreciate the exceptionally clean facilities, particularly the bathrooms which receive high praise. The staff gets positive mentions for their helpfulness, with a streamlined check-in process. Long-term guests and workforce travelers particularly value the park's purposeful, adult-oriented atmosphere without the distractions of pools, playgrounds, or game rooms. The spacious sites with individual yards are frequently highlighted as a benefit. However, some visitors describe it less favorably as a basic field-like setting alongside a road, lacking the scenic or resort-like qualities the name might suggest. The park appears to best serve those seeking functional accommodations rather than a vacation destination.

How does Happy Trails Campground compare to other campgrounds near Smithfield, NC?

Happy Trails distinguishes itself from other Smithfield area campgrounds by catering primarily to workforce travelers and full-timers rather than vacationing families. Unlike more recreation-focused alternatives, Happy Trails intentionally lacks amenities like swimming pools, mini-golf, or game rooms. The park features exceptionally clean facilities, particularly the bathrooms which receive high praise. The spacious sites with individual yards provide more privacy than many neighboring campgrounds. Its location offers convenient highway access, though some might find it has more road noise compared to more secluded options in the region. For those seeking a quiet, adult-oriented environment without recreational distractions, Happy Trails offers a unique option in the Smithfield area.
