Woonton Family Farms is a biodynamic farm in beautiful Skaneateles, NY that was established in 2022. We've been the fortunate host to families and individuals in search of a parking site for their self-sufficient RVs since 2023. We are also excited to announce that our first glamping site will be available in Spring 2025!

Our farm sits on 39 incredibly diverse acres of organic gardens, flower meadows, two varieties of woodlands, as well as a 5-acre wetland with a truly magical mix of wildlife. The farm uses permaculture technics in an effort to create a natural environment encouraging a co-existence amongst all living things to culminate in a harmonious and purely natural setting for growing 100% organic vegetables, fruit, berries, and flowers. Although we haven't yet earned our Certified Organic designation yet, all of our yields begin with 100% organic seeds on a no-till environment. Only the freshest and healthiest farm-to-table foods are grown here.

In 2023 we will begin eco-tours of the farm, the trail system throughout the entire property, and kayaking on the spectacular wetlands. If going into town is more your style, the historic Village of Skaneateles is just a 6 minute drive away.

Come park your RV in our new lot completed in Summer 2024 and have the entire site to yourself or set up a tent in the woods! You'll be our only guests when you stay at our farm.

    Family Friendly

Spent 3 nights with our 2 sons and my husbands 2 granddaughters, all under age 12. Bathrooms/showers were clean. Site we stayed at had full hook ups. Very nice camp store, pools, playground, and restaurants. Spent time at the beach which is also very nice. Sites are close together, but kind of what is expected at an RV resort.

    Small campground

We stopped here for a night going from Niagara Falls area to upper vermont. All sites are a back in site yet it was long enough for us to stay hooked up. We had full hook up. The sites are tight like most RV parks. The office is at the 19th hole. There is a bar that serves food called Divots. They had prime rib on the menu yet Sundays they close early so we didn't get to eat there.

There is a 12 hole golf coarse that surrounds the campground.

There are a lot of seasonal campsites that have decks, nice furniture out at their spots. They all left Sunday afternoon yet the rigs stay there.

we paid #37.50 for a one night stay. That is a good price for full hook up.

    Rip-off

*If you like RV resorts and places where people drive around in golf carts, disregard my review, you will  probably love this place

OK, I hadn't planned to stay in an RV resort, but was unpleasantly surprised to find that the two nearby state parks I had hoped to stay at were not accepting campers without reservations in September 2020.  So I was kind of desperate for a place to stay after a long drive.

So I found this place nearby.  They gave me a tent spot for $70 (?!).  About 10 yards to the next campsite in either direction, zero privacy, although luckily all the other tent sites were empty, because I was the only tent camper fool enough to stay here.  The campsite was also right on a road, with vehicles and golf carts whizzing by all the time.

The place is really more of a cottage/mobile home community, although there were also some RVs while I was there.

The only reason I've given this place two stars instead of one is that it is on Lake Ontario, although of course don't expect to see the lake from your over-priced tent site.  They also don't allow dogs on the beach.

Probably the worst-value, and worst, place I've ever stayed, for what I was looking for.  Again, if you like RV resorts, please disregard my review, you'll probably love it.

    Very nice TT campground

Very nice thousand trail campgrounds. Very large I believe it's 1300 + sites. We went late summer show it was becoming offseason. Most amenities close down. Pool, swimming at Lake Ontario beach, etc.. well kept campground. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One staff member Mike told us about Salmon River Falls. We went and it is a "must see" while there. Basically 15 minutes from the campground. That is by RV as we had no toad this time. Mexico Point is another close attraction to see as well. Was first time for my wife that close to any of the finger lakes. She loves it!

    Enjoyed

This was my first camping trip with the new travel trailer. I enjoyed it here. Full hook ups for my camper. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, there is to be no interaction with other campers and a mask must be worn when walking around campground. Everything for the kids was closed due to social distancing. Was an interesting experience.

    "Green" Lakes

This is a very nice campground. There are many sites with electric available at every site. There are some sites with full hook-up available and also specific areas that allow pets. Swimming is available at the large beach. You can rent a kayak and enjoy the beautiful lake. There are miles of trails to explore. There is a camp store, laundry room, recreation room, playgrounds and much more.

    Gorgeous Sunset Scenery

Campground was clean with newly paved roads. Unfortunately (and fortunately for future visitors) there is a lot of construction going on as the grounds are now owned by Sun RV Resorts (from KOA). That was annoying and disruptive to us but the improvements will be nice for the future.

Pool was nice and clean but one of the pool decks was closed for construction. Pool water was freezing this time of year. The rest of the amenities were dated and/or undergoing improvements so unavailable.

Staff was awesome! Very helpful and accommodating. Bob gave us amazing local recommendations!

Fishing was fun…lots of places to go to fish and the scenery was awesome.

Great for families. Lots of kids safely and respectfully running around on bikes, scooters, etc.

Sunsets were phenomenal! I mean, jaw dropping gorgeous.

One HUGE downfall was the amount of BUGS! Millions (not exaggerating) of midges and mayflies swarming the grounds from Lake Ontario. Be prepared to deal with this as we were not and had to vacuum inside the RV (ceilings, floors, walls) every night for about an hour to get rid of them inside. Not the campground’s fault but worth noting that the bug issue was not nearly as difficult other places such as inland or along the St. Lawrence in our observation.

Within an hours drive of lots of cute, small river towns with tons of ambiance. Water sport potential was huge if you have your own watercraft (boats, jet ski, kayaking, etc). Many state parks and historical areas as well. Highly recommend a boat tour of the St. Lawrence River!

    Interesting

A quiet clean spot. Amazing geography (Green Lakes). Well maintained. We took a site that has full hook ups (a first for us—a luxury). These sites are quite spacious. The bathhouses are fairly new and reasonably clean. The sites where we are, are landscaped with some unusual, but well placed, plants. Different. An excellent looking (we don’t golf—so only a perception) golf course resides abutting the park that has a very nice restaurant/clubhouse. There are numerous hiking/biking trails and a boat rental at Green Lake. We will return

Friendly staff, nice facilities, in need of updates

Booked a full hookup site a few months ago, but due to a software change I ended up double booked. Initially I was told I was going to be canceled, after I explained I was not local and their free weekend a different time would not work they found a water and electric site. They were very friendly and extremely understanding. My issue came upon arrival. The site I am in is 5” off over 8’ side to side. To find a spot I could level I had to park center of site, leaving a 8’ space wide open on hookup side. We are now on top of our neighbors. The sites are spacious. The staff is amazing. The amenities need updating. But, for the cost, a little work could be put into providing a closer to level site. I don’t need level but the “bubble” was not even close!!!

Wonderful hiking, beach, boat rentals, golf, ICE CREAM!!

This state park campground is one of the few that offer full hook ups.

The bathrooms have been remodeled and most are private with a toilet, shower and sink which makes this a wonderful family campground.

The hiking includes an easy 3.1 mile loop with much shade around two glacier formed turquoise lakes ( you need to see them in person to appreciate)

The beach area is wide and shallow in most areas. in close proximity to the store and snack shop (ICE CREAM)

Just past the swimming area is boat rentals ($7/hr for row boat rental)

Golfing is also available on site!

A well kept quiet place. The seasonal campers are friendly. There are 7 overnight pull thru full hookup sites with concrete patio, Sites a level and spacious. Open field to walk the dog or for children. Lake Ontario a short walk away, the lake level flooding a few yrs ago ruined the sandy beach, but it's still a great view. Sun Outdoors Association Island

    Island Getaway

We stayed at Association Island on Lake Ontario in Henderson, NY, for a three-night excursion to celebrate my daughter’s end-of-9th-grade and start-of-summer. We’re so glad we did!

When I made the reservation, this campground was a KOA, but has since changed owners and dissociated. They’re owned by Sun Outdoors who was willing to honor the reservation, site request, and discounted pricing.(Thank you, Sun Outdoors!)

The approach by way of a single lane bridge to the island is beautiful. Once on the island, it’s obvious that this is a great place for retreat. Surrounded by Lake Ontario, it’s a secluded and idyllic setting for a RV campground.

Our site(#G07) was on the sunset-side of the island and the last of the row beside a walking trail. It was wooded, roomy, and has full hookups, a fire ring, and picnic table. I could probably have fit another RV in the site and still had space to stretch.

The sites all seem to be well maintained, the campground has paved roadways, a marina for small boats, swimming pool, and ice cream shop. We didn’t explore off the island and didn’t use the bath or shower facilities.

Each of our interactions with staff was warm and friendly. We especially appreciate this when staying anywhere.

We met a bunch of people who’ve visited the park for several consecutive years- all of whom told us there have been many upgrades and improvements since the ownership change.

Except for the 9-hour drive through three states, we can’t wait to return. We paid a KOA-discounted rate of$88 per night plus a$25 site lock fee. We stayed in our 37’ Class-A motorhome.

    Great Campground

Well maintained and friendly staff. Clean facilities. Most sites can accommodate large rigs with full hookups. Reservations recommended especially during summer weekends. Well priced $42 per night for full hookups. Campground offered two free hours of WiFi which is week but is currently being updated. This campground offers a well maintained-non heated pool although costs $2 per person to use even for campers. Overall excellent campground

    Great place to stay

I’ve stayed here in the pine woods loop 3 times with my family. Some sites are a bit small and some are spacious so look them up on the website. They offer electric only in that loop but have full hookups in an open area. The bathrooms are nice, new and clean. You might find a wait because they don’t have a lot of them. The lakes and beach are beautiful and there’s a nice wide trail that would be good for handicapped people as well. Great opportunities for photo ops. I highly recommend.

    Quiet, Beautiful, Something for Everyone

We have stayed in the 300 Loop and 400 loop on different occasions. These are non-electric tent camping loops, bathrooms are a short walk from spots, if you have kids there is a playground by the more open spots in the inner part of each loop or you can stay in the more secluded outer ring of the loops. We loved these spots and for anyone camping in the Finger Lakes region I would definitely recommend Cayuga Lake State Park. They have cabin and RV spots as well but we prefer tent camping.

Gorgeous lakes with hiking trails and nice campsites

Full hookup camping loop is nice. Sites could be a little larger but it’s ok. Restrooms and showers could be cleaned a bit more. But I have a shower in my camper so it won’t hold me from camping there again. Lots of hiking and the beach is ok. Playgrounds are decent. Overall a nice place to camp and stores are 5-10 minutes away if you need anything.

    Sun Outdoors Association Island

Wonderful, windy and can be buggy

Overall, our trip to this campground on an island was awesome! The sunsets were spectacular and our site was literally just steps from Lake Ontario. All sites are full hook up. Wifi is available and fairly good. Trash is picked up from your site between 8-10am each day. Staff was VERY nice and helpful. Most sites are spacious enough though you can see your neighbor. Fire pits are behind the camper pad so you can see others at their fire pits but most were spread out and I didn't hear the neighbors conversations. Being right on the lake and on the west facing side allowed for the prevailing winds to be felt. One night we couldn't sit outside due to the high winds. The Midge gnats were horrible for about a day and a half. They were around all week and I understand this was the time of year for them but the one day, you could not walk outside without being swarmed. In fact, I took pics of the swarm up above the trees. I've never seen anything like it before! We went out to eat the night they were so bad you couldn't cook, eat, or sit outside. There is a store with limited supplies, a "cafe" that served food but hours were not regular, a nice pool though too chilly in mid June to use. You can rent a golf cart which isn't really needed but fun. The opposite side of the island near the marina (not a full service marina just docks for your boat if you bring one)  and sunrise view had more spacious sites and you could access the lake easier. I don't think swimming is allowed though in the lake. The interior sites not on the water were okay, but a bit close in areas. The campground was not full most of the week we were there but began filling up by the weekend. There is a winery that does tastings on Friday afternoon and evenings which was fun. The closest towns are Watertown to the east which has any store you could need (Walmart, Lowes, etc.),  Henderson Harbor (not much there), Sagett's Harbor (cute but small with a couple cool restaurants though skip the brewery as they had no local beer and the food was just okay), Cape Vincent (cool lighthouse and small downtown), and Clayton which is about a 50 min. drive. We loved Clayton. Eat at Bellas on the St. Lawrence River! There is fishing at the island and a lot was being caught but most of it was small fish. Our friends went Go Karting somewhere close by. There are a few state parks that had great hiking trails and scenery. We had a lot of down time just relaxing while taking in the beautiful view. I'd happily go again!

    Green Lakes State Park Campground

Popular campground with access to beach and trails

This is an extremely popular campground, and fills up quickly in the summer, especially on holiday weekends. Many local people I know in Syracuse will even camp here on a weekend, just to get away. Recent renovations to one of the two campgrounds will allow more room and hookups for RVs, in addition to the available tent sites. Cabins are also available, including one handicap accessible cabin. At least one of the campgrounds has a playground and there is another playground by the beach.

From the campgrounds there is access to the two miromictic lakes, one of which has a large beach area that is popular with many locals; the other is a National Natural Landmark and very scenic, but swimming is not allowed there. The trails near the lakes get very crowded but there are a total of 18 miles of trails in the park and many of them are less crowded. Trails from the campgrounds lead to a large tract of old-growth forest, a bird conservation area, and mountain biking trails. The park also has a golf course, frisbee golf course, and boat rentals and fishing access (on Green Lake near the beach)

    Just awesome!

This place is amazing! It's not fancy but the location is spectacular. Access is off of I81, down a few back roads and across a causeway. Our site was a pull in and we faced a western view of Lake Ontario. We were treated to gorgeous sunsets and minimal light pollution at night. The stars were everywhere. We were able to drop our kayaks right in the water in front of our rig and paddle to our heart's content. The water is clear and cool. Our site was full hookup and gravel based. We would definitely stay here again.

Yogi Bears Jellystone Park Camp Resort at Mexico

    A child's dream location

This campground has so many different activities, from gem mining to mini gulf, swimming to the water park this campground is perfect for the family. There are games and activities for the whole family and the sites are great for RVs. One thing to keep in mind is although the extras cost a bit, the extras are totally worth it and there is little to no reason to leave the park itself. Be sure to get a picture with yogi while you are there.

    Sampson State Park Campground

Solid option in the finger lakes.

We camped here for 3 nights, I had an event in Geneva. Location was handy, easy in and out. It’s an old navy/Air Force base that was converted in the 60’s. Sites have a weird thing with one electric post per two sites… but they aren’t pull through. So, apparently, New York doesn’t care if you just park anywhere in the general area of your site, which is a vibe, but bring an extension cord. There’s some kind of “resort” co-located that appears to have more conventional hookups, but I’m unclear on how to book that. Price was fine, spot was ok, lake swim beach and playground were nice.

Would give 4 stars if not for muddy site

We stayed 6 nights. There was an okay bathroom (a bit run down) and clean, separate hot showers nearby our site, but our site was muddy and numerous sites around us were muddy, too. There was standing water in the road way. This place really needs to pave the road and provide asphalt RV pads. We had an electric hook-up for our 17' travel trailer. Two-headed water spigots are shared by 2 sites, which worked reasonably well;  we were glad we had an extra hose to reach back to our camper. We never saw park staff except a young man cleaning the bathroom (very much appreciated) but things ran smoothly just the same.

    Green Lakes State Park Campground

Green Lakes is a model state park

This is a great example of what a state park should be. It not only preserves a place of unique biological diversity and geologic interest, it is also well set up and well maintained to maximize low impact outdoor recreation and environmental education. A new state of the art regional environmental education center is being built now that will open in spring, as well as new handicapped access kayaking docks that complement Accessible trails and campsites throughout the park. This is a great destination for families, handicapped campers, and natural history enthusiasts. There are several campgrounds, one is large and open and meant for large RVs, others are drive-in forested tent sites or trailer sites with hookups, and several walkin sites. There is also a colony of rustic camper cabins. The campgrounds have brand new restroom facilities and playgrounds, and the main lake has a new beach house. The lake is a fascinating meromictic lake with clear calcium-rich waters that are not only pristine and beautiful to look at, but also great for swimming and snorkeling as the waters are crystal clear and very deep. There are hiking trails, paved bike trails, a nature preserve for bird watching at Round Lake, a golf course, and great kayaking or canoeing. It is also located right next door to the Erie Canal State Park for those who want to hike or bike the historic Erie Canal. Though you might expect a park like this to be in a remote location, it is actually just a short distance east of the suburbs of the Syracuse metro area, so it is an easy park to get to, plus staying there also provides easy access to stores for supplies, or access to local cultural activities or restaurants for those who want that. One of my favorite state parks in New York!
