Finger Lakes — Long Point State Park

Water enthusiasts can launch directly from Long Point State Park's lakefront campground on Cayuga Lake, one of the deeper Finger Lakes. The park extends into the lake on a narrow peninsula, providing water access from multiple angles for fishing, swimming, and boating activities.

The campground offers full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections alongside standard amenities like picnic tables and fire rings. Amber A. notes the facilities are "nice and clean as you'd expect from a NY State Park" and that campers can "camp right on the water." Sites lack significant shade cover, though the lakeside location helps moderate temperatures. Birding opportunities are notable in the area, and hiking trails provide land-based recreation options.

The park allows hunting, so campers should expect occasional gunshot sounds during hunting seasons. Light pollution from nearby development affects stargazing visibility. Bug spray is recommended, as with most New York camping areas. The location works well for campers prioritizing water activities over extensive hiking or remote wilderness experiences.

For those seeking different accommodations, Aurora Main Stays sits just north of the park with alternative site options.

Very nice!

Very much enjoyed FLSP. Plenty of sites to go around and great hiking. A different feel that typical NY but loved it! Be sure to do a boat ride in the area. We passed by Millionaire's Row on the St Lawrence River and saw some beautiful summer homes....each one is on it's own island!

1,000 Islands is not exaggerating

Tons of lakes scattered between Canada and the USA on Lake Ontario provide endless recreation opportunities. Long Point State Park is a nice little park that juts out into the lake and is known for water activities. Not a ton to do on site if you don't have a boat or don't want to swim, but very close to lots of options. Exceptional birding in the area. Camp right on the water. Pretty standard facilities, nice and clean as you'd expect from a NY State Park. Not super shady but climate is pretty mild. Bring bug spray (as all over NY!).

Long point

The entire place isn't the biggest but is still good. You can still do day hikes here. There is picnic tables grills and restrooms. Its kind of polluted from the man made lights so the stars isn't as visible as other campsites in america. Hunting is allowed here so dont get startled if you hear a loud boom.
