What to do

Visit Salmon River Falls: Located about 15 minutes from Brennan Beach Campground, this natural attraction is worth the short drive. "One staff member Mike told us about Salmon River Falls. We went and it is a 'must see' while there," says Robert M., who visited with his RV.

Really nice pavilion for group gatherings and watching the sunset," says Matt S., who visited the area for "wine and waterfalls."
What campers like
Spacious, well-maintained sites: Campers appreciate the room between RV sites at larger parks. "Very nicely spread out with generous spacing... Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs," notes Steve A. about Finger Lakes RV Resort, adding that "they drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling."
Farm camping experiences: Woonton Family Farms offers a different experience from standard RV parks. "It was a cozy and beautiful campsite with personal attention of the owner... It was a welcome difference from the common/look-alike campgrounds everywhere else," says Willemien V.
Clean facilities: Campers frequently mention bathroom cleanliness as a priority. "Bath house is immaculate and rivals those at Fort Wilderness Resort," says Craig F. about Finger Lakes RV Resort, while Rosa J. notes, "Bathrooms were beautiful and clean."
What you should know
Seasonal availability is limited: Most RV parks near Skaneateles operate from May through October. "Owasco Hill RV Campground, south of Skaneateles, operates from mid-May through mid-October," and Twilight on the Erie runs from "Apr 15 - Oct 31."
Site leveling challenges: Some campgrounds require extra effort for motorhomes. At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach," reports Donna C., who "changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."
Noise factors: Train tracks and busy roads can affect some campgrounds. Thomas R. notes about Brennan Beach Campground, "The campsite was also right on a road, with vehicles and golf carts whizzing by all the time."
Tips for camping with families
Seek campgrounds with dedicated play areas: Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort enforces a strict speed limit for child safety. "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store and watchful eye of the staff," says Rachel T.
Choose resorts with family activities: Brennan Beach Campground offers multiple family amenities. "Very nice camp store, pools, playground, and restaurants. Spent time at the beach which is also very nice," reports Becky, who stayed with children under 12.
Consider weekday visits: "It was PACKED on the weekend, but they have a really efficient check in process and the staff is super nice," notes Kristen L. about Brennan Beach Campground. Midweek stays typically offer more space and availability.
Tips from RVers
Book early for holiday weekends: Holiday periods fill quickly at most Skaneateles area RV parks. "We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day," reports Steve A. at Finger Lakes RV Resort.
Plan for WiFi needs: Internet access varies widely between campgrounds. "The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site," notes one reviewer about Finger Lakes RV Resort, while Laura W. confirms, "Wifi was strong enough to do work calls."
Choose sites strategically: At Spruce Row Campground, site location affects experience. "We were on an end spot at an intersection inside the campground. Lots of golf carts after whizzing around and due to our campsite location they unfortunately were able to shine their lights on us every time they turned the corner after dark while we were around our camp fire," reports Jodi.
