Dump stations are available at several parks including Shady Oaks and Iroquois Campground, though not all facilities offer this service. Road conditions approaching some campgrounds require caution, with one reviewer noting the entrance to AuSable Chasm Campground as "more like a goat trail, with numerous washouts and uneven rocks and dirt." Pet policies vary by location—Shady Oaks and Iroquois welcome pets while other parks have restrictions. Most RV parks in the region provide access to Lake Champlain or other water features, making them popular destinations despite occasional crowding. Adirondack Trip

First trip with our new RV and we were a little nervous about getting everything set up. Having full hookups made it way less complicated than we expected. Once we were settled, we just enjoyed the area and took a few day trips. Would definatly come back for another Adirondack trip.

      Little Disc Golf

We came up for a quick Adirondack getaway and ended up spending most of our time outside. A little disc golf, some time by the pool, dinner at the site and plenty of walks with the dog. Pretty much everything we wanted out of the trip.

      Easy To Get To

One of the best parts for us was not having to pack up the RV every time we wanted to go somewhere. We stayed put and explored the Adirondacks from here. Lake Champlain, Ausable Chasm and a bunch of other spots were all easy to get to.

      Campground For Dinner

Having the river and Adirondacks nearby made for a really nice change of scenery. We spent our days exploring and came back to the campground for dinner and a fire.

We were looking for somewhere to stay while checking out Ausable Chasm and this worked out really well. Easy drive over, then back to the camper in the afternoon. Made the whole trip alot easier.

      North Beach Campground

      Car camped

Car camped on Sunday of Columbus Day weekend in October. This was their closing weekend and lots of spaces were available. Stayed in tent circle loop and it was almost empty. Great access to lake shore and bike path. Walked back toward marina and town in the evening and ran in the morning the other direction going out to Rock Point. Didn’t use the shower facilities. The bathroom near our loop only had sinks and toilets and was fine.

    Guide to Plattsburgh

Recreational vehicle camping options near Plattsburgh, New York primarily serve travelers exploring the Lake Champlain region. Most campgrounds in this area operate seasonally from May through mid-October, with limited availability during the shoulder seasons. The Adirondack region experiences temperature swings between day and night, with summer highs averaging 75-85°F and evening temperatures sometimes dropping into the 50s.

    What to do

Explore Lake Champlain: Alburg RV Resort provides direct lake access. "There is a boat ramp and docks onsite yet the docks aren't part of the resort. They do have an area you can store your boat and trailer. There is a big long sandy beach, a rec hall, and lots of games to play," notes a visitor to Alburg RV Resort.

Visit local farms: Several campgrounds are located near agricultural areas. A camper at Alburg RV Resort mentioned, "Devyn's Creemee Stand is close we got ice cream, farm fresh eggs and Maple syrup from there. There was a farm stand on the main road we got the best lettuce, strawberries and cilantro from the stand."

Golfing opportunities: Some rv sites near Plattsburgh offer on-site golfing. At Apple Island Resort, "There is a 9-hole par-3 golf course with putting green," according to a reviewer who appreciated the recreational options beyond camping.
