There are over 20 acres of woodland in a DEC crop tree management program, the property connects to the Erie Canal hiking/biking trail that runs between Buffalo and Albany or in a more local sense, between Palmyra and Newark, NY

Not technically in the Finger Lakes but still one of the most beautiful parts of Western New York State. Splurge and eat at the Glen Iris Inn! Great for cycling and hiking but no swimming. I love taking visitors here in all seasons but in autumn it is exceptional. I’ve stayed in a few tent sites and all are wooded and pretty private with your standard basic amenities. This is a popular park so make reservations.

It’s been a long time since my family and I have been camping at HBSP. We (my wife and I) have recently purchased a pull behind RV. This week is our “maiden voyage”. Previous camping trips have been either tent camping or with a pop-up; many, (years ago) here, at Hamlin. So we were a little nervous about all the details and “how-tos” of RV camping. Getting the kinks out has been a challenge but fun at the same time. Moving forward (pun intended), this will be our retirement “home”. So we were pleasantly surprised at our experience here at a somewhat newly refurbished campground. Oh, the layout of all the sites and roadways have remained the same. Mostly, the sites themselves have remained the same: clean, easily accessible, roomy, some secluded. But the reception area and bathrooms have vastly improved. Upon arrival, the staff greeted us very professionally and courteously. At check-in, all of our ID tags and such were ready and waiting for us; it took less than 5 minutes. It could not have been more seamless. We will return to Hamlin. This time, it won’t be so long. Ps. The cellular reception is also greatly improved!!
ScoutTent sites are nice, either 30 or 50 amp at each sight depending on what you pick. We went 4 days after they opened and raccoons we're a small issue even at a clean campsite. Saw a skunk at our campsite each night as well.
ScoutThe tent sites were great and spaced apart. The owners were very friendly and there was a nice pond. Showers could need updated but it was about what I was expecting. I love little campgrounds like this so it was even better than I was hoping.

This is a large campground. Walking distance to the theme park. Campground fees include admission to the theme park. The sites are very nice and well maintained. There are campers for rent, cabins for rent, tent sites, RV sites and premium RV sites. It is a great family campground.

I haven't stayed in a KOA before because they have so many amenities I don't use. I'm a birder and my tent site here is next to a little grove of trees where I counted 12 species of birds this morning. The bathrooms are very clean and the women working the desk could not have been more helpful.

Great campground for kids, events, and hiking. Plenty of room on each site for whatever you need. Multiple playgrounds which are clean & well maintained. Only downside is that the RV sites don’t have much shade but the tent sites do. Also make sure to bring plenty of leveling blocks as some sites are far from level.
TravelerGreat secluded tent camping (recomend numbers 7 and 8), cabins are new and ample beds and space. Camper camping is close to everything, but less privacy. Numerous pavilions that are wonderful for parties or weddings. Stunning overlook that is breathtaking (also great for weddings). Hiking, bike trails, fishing pond, playground, open fields for sports, much more!!! Great for photo shoots, weekend stress getaways etc. I live close by and visit a few times a month.
ScoutThe state park is breathtaking. The campground is horrendous. The restrooms were disgusting. The site barely fit our one tent (8man Coleman) even though it was advertised as a two tent site. The camp fire ring had no solid base- it just sat on the grass and fires would not stay lit. The quiet hours were not enforced. Yelling and loud music kept us up until ridiculous hours. I would not rate this as family friendly.
GuideLetchworth has a few options: cabin, barebones cabin, and a few tent sites. I’ve stayed several times. We’ve hiked, white water rafted, gone to the pool, playgrounds, etc. The park is huge and absolutely gorgeous. You can easily spend a week here and have plenty to do in the park as well as the local towns. You can tour the dam as well. The views along the road through the park are incredible. Go to Letchworth. You will love it.

This campground is clearly well-maintained. Everything was tidy and clean, from our campsite, laundry room, showers, bathroom, camp store, and walking paths. My only complaint is that all campsites do NOT have a view of Lake Ontario. However, it’s just a short walk to a nice grassy area to overlook it. There were several more tent sites available, but this is definitely a campground that caters to seasonal campers/RVs. Only 25 min. outside of Niagara Falls so we were able to get there early. Also, the owner was very responsive.

We went during their Christmas in July weekend. They had a good list of activities from cookie decorating to visits with Santa. The store is small, but fairly priced. A salt water pool had just been added and was going to open soon. One of the coolest things was rafting on the creek! There was also mini golf and multiple playgrounds. A lot of the sites were right on the creek. The scenery was beautiful. The tent site we had, had access to the creek which was neat. The bathrooms are outdated, but clean. Some of the showers cost a quarter and some don't, which was peculiar. Overall, one of the better campgrounds we stayed at this year. I would definitely recommend this for families which kids of any age.

We stayed here at the beginning of August and brought 3 children ages 10, 9, and 5. We did not realize this campground’s sites were so close together. And most of the sites were gravel lots. If you’re coming to enjoy boating or the like, it is probably about perfect. As long as you don’t mind the dust and dirt from all of the gravel and the mediocre bath houses. Their swimming pools were very nice on the other hand. They had a 1-1.5 foot kiddie pool and a large graduating pool with the water being about 80 degrees is guess. They also have a jacuzzi. There are water and electric hook ups which is nice even when tent camping. It isn’t exactly what we expected, but there are lots of trails through the woods and of course you have the Allegheny there. The campground isn’t exactly beautiful but we’ve decided to give it a chance. We will try a cabin next time and see if the nicer lots make the whole experience that much better.

ScoutI went to college right near Letchworth State Park so I spent many wonderful weekends there! There is a reason why they call it the Grand Canyon of the East. Not only can you check out the beautiful waterfalls, but there are also many awesome trails, rivers, and caves to check out. When I would camp, we would rent a camp site with our tent but, you could camp with your RV or even rent a cabin. Ive gone every month of the year, but these pictures were from my birthday in January. Letchworth is one of the best parks in New York state and a definite must see!
LegendLetchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East and is located in Mt. Morris New York. My husband and I visited regularly when we lived near Rochester, NY. The park is stunning and is fit for camping whether you’re in a tent, RV or choosing to rent a gorgeous cabin. There are many walking and hiking trails for adventurers of all types. Make sure you bring your camera as the views are all photo worthy. The camping price is right due to the fact that the park is run by the state. A great place to stay especially in the Summer!!

LegendIn most states, those without falls like Niagara, this state park would be the pride of the land. With three serious drops in as many miles, the Genesse River winds it’s way through what locals call the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Many states try to make such claims, but this might be the closest any come to actually living up to such. It is stunning!
Along the river this park gives the motorist the distinct feel that she is on a parkway, not unlike Shenendoah, or Blue Ridge. Every few miles the winding pavement breaks out onto a few of the ridges and valley below, before ducking back into the forest of Western New York.
The campground, which is about 15 miles from the major falls area, offers what many come to expect from state parks. There are a wide variety of campsites, all reservable online, which can accommodate lots of different types of camping, large RV’s, small tents, and everything in between. Most, if not all, campsites offer electrical and water is available close by.
The bathrooms are practically luxurious by most camping standards, with single-use restroom/ showers available at all hours. The camp store offered a few grocery items, along with cold drinks, firewood and ice in addition to laundry facilities. Within a short walk were many hiking trails, an old-school fitness path, and a stellar playground where anyone under 9 years of age should get a great workout.
But let’s be honest, we’re not coming here for the campground, it’s the rest of the park that makes the drive worth it. So, check it out and get to know this stunning place first hand and be sure to bring a picnic basket.
Scout07 and 08 2024. We stayed in loop A, the showers and bathrooms are newer in this area and no matter what time of day or night I went, they were clean. Sites have a good amount of trees and shade, if you need solar, look on Google maps first before picking site. The parkway to Hamlin may have some shorter underpasses for tall rigs, so pay attention or check ahead if you have a large rig. The beach is great, and there are several playgrounds for kids. Never saw the dump stations busy, but then again we didn't go right at check out time either. Kids will be kids and laugh and play during the day, even though we're retired, we enjoy the sound of happy children. Come quiet time, it was just that, quiet. Odds are you will need to level your rig, dirt, stone etc., but that's to be expected, we are camping after all. All the staff that we came in contact with were pleasant and helpful. We live relatively near Hamlin and plan on going there several times a year. Perfect get away.

Roomy campsites. Many have views of Lake Ontario. It's real quiet there as most people fish or go visit tourist areas in nearby Niagara Falls. There are plenty of playgrounds for the kids and the roads are flat--perfect for bike riding. The only downside is that there is no beach but your pass gets you into Hamlin Beach State Park which DOES have a beach. This is one of my favorite campgrounds.
TravelerWe’ve camped at Hamlin beach a few times and enjoyed it. We like the big open space to play kickball or other running games to pass the time by. There’s a few playgrounds for the younger kids to enjoy in camp as well as along the beach. Hopefully the snack bar by the water will be opening up again soon! The camp sites are pretty spacious which gives you a little more privacy from your neighbors. It’s definitely a great place to go for a small getaway.
ScoutIt's pretty clear the planner of this park has never camped outside a KOA in their life. The location had so much potential but the sites are too close together. The lake views are either obstructed by trees or completely dominated by old travel trailers. These are the sorta of campers that feel the need to not only completely fill their site but also take up any common area that might provide a view. The folks that need to have a light show from their RVs so that you can't even see the stars. The saving grace is that the rangers are fantastic and helpful, and that your pass gets you in free to Hamlin Beach Park. You'll get more privacy there and nicer views even though it's a parking lot.
