Best Campgrounds near Hamlin, NY

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Hamlin, New York provides a range of camping experiences primarily centered around Lake Ontario's shoreline. Hamlin Beach State Park Campground serves as the area's primary established camping destination, offering spacious, wooded campsites with electric hookups for both tent and RV camping. Additional options within 20 miles include Lakeside State Park Campground, Red Rock Ponds RV Resort, and several private campgrounds catering to different preferences. Most campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from May through mid-October, with limited availability outside these months.

Camping availability follows a distinct seasonal pattern across the region, with most facilities closing during winter. "Sites are large and plenty of shade. Clean campground. Nice beach and paved bike trail," noted one camper about Hamlin Beach State Park. Most campgrounds feature electric hookups, with varying degrees of additional amenities like water and sewer connections. Cell reception can be spotty in some areas, particularly for AT&T users near Hamlin Beach. Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends, as waterfront camping areas tend to fill quickly. Terrain is generally flat and accessible, making most sites suitable for both tents and larger RVs, though some reviewers mentioned certain sites may require careful navigation when backing in larger vehicles.

The Lake Ontario shoreline defines the camping experience for most visitors to the Hamlin area. Several campers highlighted the beach access at Hamlin Beach State Park as a major draw, with one review describing "a beautiful well groomed sandy white beach fully staffed by certified lifeguards." The campground layout provides a good balance of wooded privacy and beach accessibility. Cyclists appreciate the paved trails connecting camping areas to beaches and recreation areas. Several campgrounds feature mixed-use designs with designated loops for different camping styles, including pet-friendly sections. While most camping areas are developed with established amenities, site privacy varies considerably, with some offering significant seclusion between campsites and others providing more open, community-oriented spaces. Fishing opportunities, both in Lake Ontario and nearby ponds, add recreational value to the camping experience in this region.

    Big Guys Campground

    Activities for all ages!

There is so much to do at this camp! They have a jump pillow, pool arcade, movie room, RC track, and bingo for everyone. They have live music at tavern on the property with great food! They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

    Niagara County Camping Resort

    Niagra County Camping Resort

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

    Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

    Niagara Woodland Campground

    Good for the price

Have to say enjoyed my stay, yes lots of year around campers with permanent spots, but lots of activities during my stay and didn’t bother me at all. Meet the owner very nice guy loan me his father tiedown steaks. Plenty of kids having fun by the pool. So I didn’t have to entertain my boys. It’s a well seasoned campground. So on the older side. But didn’t stop us from having a good trip overall
