Free dispersed camping sits less than two miles from Valley of Fire State Park's north entrance, accessible via a rough but passable road off Valley of Fire Highway. This Bureau of Land Management site accommodates big rigs and allows campfires, pets, and alcohol without reservations or fees.
Around eight sites spread across the hilltop location, offering views down into the valley below. Terry O. notes the "short drive to furthest sites but viewable from the main road." The elevated position means exposure to wind, which several campers experienced for multiple days during their stays. Sites require some leveling but provide adequate space to spread out from other campers.
The location serves as a practical base for exploring Valley of Fire State Park and surrounding areas. Traffic from the park remains minimal since the park closes from sunset to sunrise, leaving only occasional campers heading to Arch Rock Campground — Valley of Fire State Park. Rough roads around the area work for walking or biking. Many campers use this spot when Valley of Fire's developed campgrounds reach capacity.
For those wanting established amenities and closer park access, BLM dispersed camping west of Valley of Fire provides another free option less than a mile away.
