Rates at this Blackfeet Nation campground ran $99 to $385 per night, and the gap between what was advertised and what campers found on the ground was a recurring theme across dozens of reviews. The property sits on open, largely unshaded terrain near a creek, roughly 15 to 20 miles from the east entrance of Glacier National Park, making it one of the few drive-in options on that side of the park. Campers planning trips to camping near Browning should note that alternatives in this corridor are limited, which may explain why this campground attracted bookings despite persistent infrastructure problems.
Multiple reviewers described arriving to find a gravel-and-dirt lot still under active construction, with earthmovers running during daytime hours and scattered building materials across the grounds. Electric hookups were consistently reported as 30-amp despite 50-amp listings on the booking page. The single shower house drew repeated complaints about cleanliness, missing supplies, and clogged fixtures that went unaddressed for days. As Paula R. put it, "We paid full price for a gravel spot with electricity, sewer, and water." No shade. No staff at check-in. Overflowing dumpsters.
A handful of reviewers had a different experience, particularly those who stayed in the tipi accommodations or tent sites closer to the creek. Mary noted "super quiet nights and beautiful views and night skies," and mentioned fly fishing at the adjacent creek. The mountain sightlines are real. The location has genuine appeal for anyone using the east entrance to Glacier.
Access routes also divided opinion. Some larger rigs found Star School Road from Browning easier to navigate than the main approach, which several reviewers flagged as rough. Cell service was unreliable. Refund disputes were common, with multiple campers reporting difficulty reaching management by phone, email, or text, ultimately turning to credit card companies to resolve charges.
The campground is now permanently closed. Campers looking for established sites in the area can check SweetPine Campground about a mile northwest, or Cut Bank Campground -- Glacier National Park to the west inside the park boundary.
