Amazing state park

Great state park to get away from everything for a while. We only were able to stay one night while passing through but would definitely stop here when in this area again. There is not really mobile service here though. We had great signal up by the dump station but down where the campsites are we…

Conveniently Located

Friendly and quiet, concrete pads, easy hook-ups, good internet, and paved streets. IMO’s Pizza delivers. Don’t plan to sleep late during the work week though because mowing, weed whacking and leaf blowers may start at 8:00am.

Today they are removing the old concrete pad next to us while we…

Out of state trip without the out-of-state travel!

Hawn State Park is a park like no other. Nowhere else in the state of Missouri have I been able to camp and feel like I'm in the middle of the Rocky Mountains.  The car camping area is nestled in the middle of a pine filled valley.  There's nothing more refreshing than sitting in the evening and…

Quiet and serene

We stayed here on a Tuesday evening in early November. It was election night so we were happy to not have a cell signal for the night. 😊 The sites are all walk in but it’s a short walk from your car to the site. Very rocky ground so be careful where you put your tent. Pit toilets are located at…

Very large, open place with the river close to most campers. I never floated here but I'm sure it's quite the party!

Best campsite in Missouri!

This place is awesome! It was our second overnight backpacking trip we did! We started on beautiful pickle creek trail which is rock scramble right beside a awesome clear water creek bumbling over big rocks! Then we hit whispering pines trail and stayed at campsite 5! It is about 5-6 miles in.…

Very quiet

Only 1 other camper when I showed up. Very quiet and clean ( although you do hear a train whistle occasionally). Beware, more ants than I've ever seen in Site 2. I moved to site 1 lol. Great spot if you want some solitude but still wanna feel safe ( sheriff drove through on patrol twice while I…

Enthusiasts rejoice!

Are you a person who enjoys the outdoors more than the couch? Do you thrive in medium/tough hikes where the possible main cause of death is by "neck chaffing due to skin stickyness?" Do fetid sauna-temperatured bathrooms and nightly raccoon raids tickle your camping funny bone? Then this location…

Beautiful new Picnic shelter, quiet campground

This is a very basic campground with some shade. No hookups, really good for tent camping. The new picnic shelter is beautiful and there is seating around a fire pit. This forest does a great job of keeping restrooms very clean.

Book Early

Love this small campground and the creekside campsites, but spots are very hard to get in the warmer months. We went the other day for a hike and wrote down our favorite numbers, so hopefully we can plan a little more in advance and get a good one. Hawn overall has excellent hiking and is a good…

Loved it

The views, the views, the views!! After the hiking the campground pales in your thoughts. Primitive sites, in the trees and clean facilities covers it. The hiking though, bring your comfy boots, pack your day bag and bring your snacks and water.

Other reviews must be old

Let’s start with the good. The outhouses were clean and it was pretty cheap. Ok,on to all of the not so great. The trails were VERY unkept and there was poison ivy at nearly every step, the entry map shows a beach- there might have been 5 years ago but now absolutely nothing that even resembled a…

Nice camp ground.

We had a good time camping on the back loop. Sites 105 to 111. Full hook up, shade and near river. Plenty of room on the gravel bar to have fun.

We floated. They picked us up and dropped us off at our camp sites since we had a large group. Expensive to float but we had a good time. Floated on…
