Best Cabin Camping near Pleasant Hill, MO

This park is convient to I-29 but far enough off the highway to be quiet and peaceful. Tent sites, full hookups as well as rooms and cabins are available. As a point of interest, this used to be a favorite fishing spot of President Harry S. Truman, check out the Mother in Law cabin—built at his request.

Our friends stayed in the cabins which are awesome. The RV sites were right on top of each other so would not great. Very little green space but had a lot of amenities and the cleanest bathrooms!

Located in east central Kansas on 2600 acre Lake LaCygne (cooling reservoir for KCPL coal-fired power plant). No swimming or skiing allowed, only fishing boats. We stayed on site 112 in View Point Loop next to some permanent residents. There’s no stay limit here so some sites are very messy. Paved roads with gravel sites having W/E, mostly 30A but a few 50A like ours. Check in at the Marina to see which ones are available at this all first come first serve cg. They even have a few FHU sites but I imagine they are all taken by the residents. Nice dump station located in the back of the park along with a few rustic cabins. We enjoyed a waterfront site but there were many 30A sites available in a more wooded setting in several different loops. There are about 113 sites here.

We had a fun and relaxing time and loved the woodsy feel to it. We stayed here for a weekend in July 2020 and had a great time!  It is under new ownership and they are working to remodel and renovate all areas. I got to meet one of the owners and one of the owner's kids who works there and they were very nice and very helpful.  In fact, all staff I had contact with were! We had a nice full hookup RV site with a very woodsy feel.  Well shaded, grass and trees, view of water and nice space around us. Gravel site with picnic table and fire ring.  The pool is renovated and very nice. It is very large, zero entry, up to mostly around 5 ft deep with a small area that was 9ft; there is a children's area with a sprinkler. Roads throughout campground are gravel, not paved, if that makes a difference with kids bringing scooters or bikes.  We drove around to see the rest of the campground and saw lots of sites that I'd like to camp in when we come back. The cabins look nice, too. Waved at people sitting in front of them, but did not see inside them.  I'm looking forward to go here again and excited to see the updates they make over the next year!

Note: Included in your camp fee you get 2 free daily passes per night of camping to the pool and a discounted rate for any other swimmers; so for our family with 4 we had the free passes go to the parents and paid $3 each for the kids to swim & we did this two days.  As long as you have the wrist band on you can come and go all day to the pool.

Cons: quite a bit of poison oak around the fish cleaning area, shade at the pool is at a minimum, my phone (AT&T) could not get service there.

This park is privately owned. It has a very nice in ground pool along with a storm shelter which gives piece of mind in crazy Missouri weather. Shade seems to be scarce at a lot of the sites (all are full hook up I believe). They have what seems to be quite a few full time campers living here. Hard to get through on phone lines to book and no online booking options but overall a very clean campground with friendly owners.

We camped here in September 2020. There are nice spots right by the lakes with big trees for shade. Roads going up higher past us were a little rough but made for great walks with kids. Quiet and well spaced. Kids found tons of frogs and snails to play with. Too late in the year for the pool to be open but looked nice. Would camp again.

The pool is the best thing there everything else is rundown and out dated.

the sites are old and not very level and difficult to maneuver. Lots of seasonal campers but it could be a 4 star campsite with some upgrades .

Good overnight stay, we wouldn’t stay longer than that, but definitely a good a d convenient place for overnight. Bathrooms were clean, easy to get to from interstate.

Decent KOA off the highway in a neighborhood. Sites are close together with some shaded. Front desk said there were no pull thru’s available for our 34 ft but when I told them the website showed sites available if we unhook, they said ‘Yes those are available “. Good thing I checked the website first or we would have looked elsewhere so be sure to ask if your denied. There’s an area very close by to park your tow vehicle. $1.00 single scoop Blue Bell ice cream at the office in a waffle cone was a great treat. The free pancake breakfast was great and they had fun kids activities. Nice doggie playground with grass.

We stayed in site 22 last night on our way to South Dakota. The check in experience was easy, the site was clean and place was nice. We arrived late and hungry and were able to go across the highway to KC BBQ ribs and it was delicious! They also deliver to the campground! This campground was being enjoyed by families and it was nice to see kids playing on a playground.

Stayed at this Koa for 1st time. Was escorted to my campsite. Friendly, and very helpful with getting wood, and turning on tv. Cute and quiet place, place felt safe at night.

Overnight stay. Overpriced for patio. Def not same patio that was in photo. $100 plus and zero shade
