    A Country Charm RV Park

    Practically perfect!

Lovely small RV park. Only about 12 sites. Super friendly, helpful owner. Quiet area in a small town but grocery store just down the road if you need to restock.

Level sites. Good hook-up access. Small, clean laundry. Bathrooms were top-notch. Every campground should have the same set up. Handicap accessible, all in one in same room. So great if you have kids or someone with a disability.

City pool and playground across the street. Only stayed one night so didn’t get a chance to try those. Will definitely stay again when passing through the area.

    Thousand Hills State Park Campground

    Great Hiking and Relaxation Destination

There are tons of things to do during any stay at Thousands Hills (affectionately called Thousand Chills). There are kayaks and canoes to rent, lakeside shelters, plenty of trails to hike, and plenty of campgrounds. There are areas that have cabins and also places that have RV hookups. Really great for anybody!

I went after a rain and it was beautiful. Many of the trails absorb water well and it's not too muddy. The trails and campsites are dog friendly and are very well marked.

    Out in the woods

Nice, but small state park, has around 40 rv sites. Large newer shower house to service all 40 sites. All sites are shaded. They have around 10 sites with full hook ups. Park is sitting on 1900 acres with plenty of hiking trails and a 18 acre lake. Nice place for a quiet getaway, downside if any is no TV reception, cell phone service is 4g

    Pony Express Lake Conservation Area

Small campground, free, on the lake.

It's in the Conservation Area of Missouri on Pony Express Lake. Easy to get to. Gravel road to the camp areas. Very small. Only 7 or 8 sites. We had a van. There was an RV there and a tenter. Picnic table and fire ring. There is a boat landing further down the gravel road past the campground, different finger of the lake. Fishing. Pit toilet, no water or hook ups for RVs. Very quiet place and of course, you can't beat free!

    Great place to stay!

This small RV park was a great place for us to stay while visiting family in the area. The owner is very helpful. The facilities and grounds are very well maintained. There is a washer and dryer with a folding area. The restrooms and shower area is private and super clean. There is a nice picnic table and fire ring at each site. Bundles of fire wood are available for sale.

    Pershing State Park Campground

Stay away from Pershing, go to Long Branch instead!

When I stayed at Pershing it felt like an RV park. There were very few tent sites and the bathrooms were not very clean. There is a bad odor coming from the pit toilets like they have not been pumped all summer, the odor permeated through the back part of the campground.

It does have showers and an amphitheater with a few trails and some play ground equipment. On a positive note the grounds were mowed and clean.

Honestly, Long Branch State Park is 40 miles away and is a 5 star park.

    road trip camping

There are two RV spots with free electrical and water. We camped wIth a tent in the one closest to the tree.... both overlook a cute pond. They aren’t sheltered or hidden from the rest of the park though which was kinda weird when the kids from the baseball field nearby were staring at us putting up the tent.

Cute little campground w/ friendly owners

Very small campground on the edge of town (appx 20ish sites). Full hookups and all most amenities you will find at larger properties: laundry, showers, picnic tables and fire rings. Sites have decent amount of space between them. Booking online is a bit confusing but owners are very friendly and helpful.

Small campground with available spot with 2 days notice. Peaceful sites. Grounds very well kept. Full hookups and friendly staff. One of the best experiences on a site close to the 35, but far enough away you wouldn't know it. Good wifi. If you're looking for a beautiful park, this is it!

    Soggy Bottom Campground

350-acre family campground, especially for the ATV/UTV riding enthusiast

A wonderful place for family fun for those who enjoy riding ATV’s and/or UTV’s through wooded trails and/or mud! The campground provides full-service hook-ups with water, electricity, and sewer. There are also showers and toilets available to campers or those who simply want to day ride. There is also a lodge hall with a full kitchen and bathe that can be rented for day use or as lodging. Hosts Greg and Debbie Cox work to make every rider and camper’s experience pleasant and frequently host special activities with a food trailer and live music.

    A favorite!

As with all things ratings are subjective to the whims and mindset of the reviewer. That having been said this park meets my criteria as a wonderful park. Having stayed many times, the park often has fewer than five campers. No, there are not water or sewer hookups and only 30 amp electric service, but the showers are immaculate and the pads mostly level and hard surfaced, surrounded by a bounty of shade. The pileated and red headed woodpeckers are in abundance and the trails including a long boardwalk make for interesting walks. The setting is a oak/hickory forest. I hate to give this review for fear of others coming for the experience but great things should be shared.

Wallace State Park in Cameron, MO

There are mixed RV and tent camping sites, including primitive and walk in sites. You can get water and electric at most sites. Each campground has an iron fire ring with a grill attached.

There are nice hiking trails. Trails are well marked. There three levels to choose from based on distance.

There is also a small lake to fish or swim in. The lake for it's size, had some nice fish.

The community shower and bathroom houses are not air conditioned. The floors are slab cement, but the park staff clean them daily.

Overall, I think that campgrounds are decent.

    A quiet getaway

We arrived on Thursday evening. After a short debate we opted to pay the extra money for an electric site - based solely on the fact that the water wasn't turned on in the basic site loop (we later discovered it was also off at the swimming beach).

At a guess the basic sites aren't used much as they seemed less kept than the electric sites. Finding a place to pitch a tent in the electric loop was a challenge but we did find one that had enough level grass. Site 4 - close to the water spigot and a modest walk to the bathroom/showerhouse.

Though it was definitely busier come Friday night not all the sites were full and most seemed to be retired or semi-so with grandkids. No party atmosphere - which is what we happened to be looking for this trip.

A nice, quiet place to spend a weekend away with Amish country store a close distance by.

It's a quick stop for the night.

Not great, but I'm sure there's worse. The good is that it's straight off the interstate, the hookups seem to work and it's a fairly quiet town. The bad is that there's very little room between pads and except for some aging picnic tables, no amenities. No reservations and no staff, just a drop box for payment.

    A great getaway

I’ve camped here in a tent as well as a travel trailer and it’s great either way! Nice camping spots, generally a very quiet campground. The campsites are a bit of a hike from the lake but there is lots to do when you get there. Paddle boats, a beach, several playgrounds for kids, fishing, a marina and a great restaurant. There are several different trails you can hike or bike.
A great and affordable place to stay in north Missouri.

Nice, but some pretty small sites

This worked great as an overnight stop on our way to MN. We were there midweek during the off-season, so our nice pull-thru site was fine. Some sites were small and open. Bathrooms were closed for the season, but the building looked pretty new.

    Lovely Spring Weekend

I reserved the site for mid-April at the beginning of March. Campground opens 4/15 and we arrived on opening day. Check process can be done either in person or online upon arrival. Thursday night the campground was practically empty, but by 7pm on Friday night it was nearly full. Ranger offered a list of activities and an extensive list of rules. The campground rules are enforced very strictly, so read them thoroughly. You will be made aware if you are observed breaking one of them. There were 2 nature hikes scheduled for the weekend, I imagine activities will ramp up further into the season. We had a family site, the pad was roomie, "yard" was quite nice and right next door to the "basic" non-electrical sites. So plenty of grassy area for tents. Restroom and shower facilities were quite nice, clean and large enough to handle the the campground at the nearly full capacity of the weekend. There was also a drop latrine at our end of the campground for convenience. There is no sink, but the hand sanitizer dispenser was full. Our site was right across from the playground, which was quite busy, but things quieted down and by 10pm everyone was on best behavior. We are thinking about making this an annual campout.
