    Wall Doxey State Park Campground

    Abounds in charm and hospitality

My stay won't likely be like yours. First, I drove in while Mississippi was under a blanket of snow. All the roads in Holly Springs and the rest of the state were treacherous with packed snow and ice following a week of unseasonably frigid weather across the southern midwest.

That said, the 2 rangers working at Wall Doxey went out of their way to set me up with a parking place in the practically empty campground, putting me in the youth camp, finding me an extension cord to hook up to power and allowing me access to the group camp for a bathroom and shower.

This was necessary because many areas were either in the middle of renovation, inaccessible or out of service due to frozen pipes. To say these ladies went out of their way to get me situated is an understatement. They were heroines!

The camp has loads of retro charm. A big mid-century lodge, picnic area, swimming lake, frisbee golf and a 2 mile hiking trail around the lake. I enjoyed a walk thru the snow and the comfort of having a safe and caring place to stay during my trip through Mississippi.

I suspect it will be the same for you even if your visit is under far different circumstances.

    Tom Sawyer's is a work in progress; a 1 on a scale of10.

This place is a dump.  The shoreline is littered with all sorts of debris. The roads and sites are filthy and unmaintained. The laundry room equipment is free, but who knows if they are ever cleaned, and the floors are filthy. Right now, March 21st there is an infestation of lady bugs and stink bugs in the laundry room. It seems that no money is spent on the care of this facility. We stayed in the river side of the "park" so have no knowledge of the other sites. The rest room is a single unisex toilet and stand alone plastic shower. The only appeal is the Mississippi River. Owners: spend some money to fix this mess or sell it!

John W Kyle State Park — John W. Kyle State Park

    Awful

It’s really hard for me to give 1 star for anything, but this place is a dump. This is the 3rd MS State Park (North MS) we have been to and it is clear that MS does not take care of its state parks. Only half of the park is open, the grass was overgrown, trash/garbage is littered every where (especially near the open dumpsters that are randomly placed throughout camp), the ranger only came around to collect fees and then disappeared. The bathroom does not have AC or a fan, so it was a total sweat box. The toilet paper was not replenished, there is no hand soap, there was broken glass on the ground in one of the stalls. The shower portion wasn’t that bad, but again, no AC. The water hook ups are at least 100 foot away from most camp sites, so bring lots of extra hose if you do end up staying here. The site #’s are not clearly marked and they do not post if a site is reserved. No designated fire pits, so people have been just burning where ever they want. The fee is $22 a night, but they will charge you another $16 if you put up a tent. Overall, I paid $39 to stay in the worst campground we have ever gone to. Get it together Mississippi!

    Fantastic campground

We were long term at this campground for 7 months. The staff was outstanding, the park was clean and well-kept, and the monthly rates were reasonable. We loved our stay here! We actually stayed from December 2020-July 2021.

    Clean, family friendly resort

This was our first time to ever hook-up our Class A RV and I'm afraid this place may have set the bar HIGH. This place was so clean & quiet, we wished we could have stayed longer. There were several playgrounds my son enjoyed & we had a blast doing the scavenger hunt. We were too early in the season for the blow-up slides but we definitely plan on coming back to enjoy those. They have pedal bikes you can rent (must have closed toed shoes), tetherball, a pavilion, a pond where you can feed the fish... I couldn't get over how clean this place was. The guy at the desk/shop was very friendly. I thought the price was high ($70/night) but when we got there, it made more sense.

    Deceiving Pictures

Pictures don’t show the busy highway RIGHT NEXT to the campsites. Very loud traffic noise all day and night. Surrounded by city. Sites are pull through and narrow, no privacy, small patch of grass, full sun. WiFi is limited to 3 devices (one pass code per device). We regretted booking the moment we arrived. If you’re looking to explore Memphis and NOT really enjoy camping, this is the place. Although the pool and pond activity (inflatables) were closed due to them being seasonal, the price was still steep, no less for less. It’s clean, but sadly, that’s probably all we can say we appreciated.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Memphis

Clean and well maintained with lots of activities

This is a huge campground and the price for a spot was at least double what we would pay elsewhere (nearly $100). We weren’t able to get a campground at Tom Sawyer and the reviews were all over the place for the rest of the Memphis campgrounds that we decided to go ahead and splurge on this one.

This was our first Jellystone and I was shocked at how many campers the campground accommodated - there are RVs everywhere. Most of the amenities and services are located at the front of the campground and includes a store and propane, playground, dog run, pool, showers and laundry, gold mining station, and sports courts (basketball, Gaga ball, and basketball). Further back in the campground, was another playground and dog run and a really cute little lake.

We were staying off-season so there was no activities and they actually deflated the jumping pad, but my kids still had fun and I could see this campground either being a blast in the summer or being a nightmare because of too many people. While we were there, I saw almost no children and several of the camper sites looked like the guests were staying long-term. For a campground that is marketed towards families, the demographics were a bit strange.

That said, it was super clean, well-organized, the landscaping and sites were maintained, everyone was friendly. We got two loads of wash done and my husband said the showers looked good. There were some restaurants and a Walgreen that looked like they delivered to the campground. WiFi worked and they had cable tv.

We reserved a basic site, but for more money you could get a site with Adirondack patio furniture and there were plenty of cabins as well. We reserved same day online and they have a system for late check-ins.

I’m definitely giving Jellystone another go - but next time during the summer. I’m not sure whether this campground is a good base for exploring Memphis - I think if you had a car it would probably be fine as it’s only 20 minutes or so.

    Traveling with kids

It’s a city RV park, what do we really expect? It’s not camping for sure. Traveling from California with kids who have been at the mercy of cross-country RV parks- this was a reprieve for them, pool, bikes, playgrounds. We’ve paid $100 a night for less. Clean, cute, easy access, not sketchy. Noise, sure, but nothing a fan or AC could drown out. Airplanes every few hours, traffic from a nearby highway. Site 44 happens to be the only one without a tree for shade though, so unless you like hot sun- book another one.

Really Nice, but mostly long term

This is a really nice campground just outside of Memphis, TN. They have a swimming pool, playground, covered party pavilion, laundry and lots of kids activities. They also have cabins for rent. This appears to be more of a long term rental campground, but it is a great place to stay if you are traveling there for the weekend for local events, baseball tournaments at Snowden Grove or a Memphis vacation. The campsites are very close together and most are in the sun with no shade.

    Ez-ish anyway

The park is nice and clean. Really quiet the night we stayed. But don’t expect much Info or help if checking in after hours.

We got in late with no reservation. Box on door had about 7 registration slips so we guessed there were probably that many spots available (as there is no map or legend showing what spots were available for the night anywhere).

We were wrong. Wanted a pull thru and found only one. But it was reserved. Drove whole park and found 1 back in. Called the after hours numbers to confirm we didn’t miss something but both went straight to voicemail. Oh well...we backed in and got a night of rest, so mission complete.

    Great one-nighter.

This was just a stop over fire us on our way back to Texas. Nice concrete pads. The sights are pretty cozy, but I have seen worse. When we arrived it was during the day and the office was open, yet all the registrations had been put out in the late check-in box for us to grab and go on our way. I realize the current time we are in but I found this to be very cold and not a very friendly welcome. There is a laundry here but I don’t really see any other amenities. Perfect for our one night stop.

    Clean, concrete pads, good showers.

Ez Daze RV Park, Southaven, MS - We stayed one night in November. Easy pull through, level concrete site so we didn’t have to unhitch, very clean bathrooms and showers. They have two regular shower stalls which are extremely shallow and one ADA stall with pull down bench. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff because as soon as I walked in, about 4p, I was directed to find my site information outside in the after hours arrival box. Great if you’re looking for contactless registration or do in fact arrive after hours. There was debris in our space that must have been left by the previous camper and we had to get out and clear it before we could pull into the site. Appeared to be large broken pieces of a heavy plastic bumper. (Reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Strong wifi, cable reception wasn’t great. Code to the bathrooms, which is appreciated especially as the park is located in a business area and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Asphalt in front of office in extremely bad condition so be careful as you drive through. Nice office. They have plenty of long termers and there are two large receptacles outside the front office for package delivery. The park is easy access from I-55 and sits next to several RV dealers. Great place to stay if you want to have a look at some new trailers or motor homes. Also, a Tanger Outlet is just down the road. Full hook up, 50 amp site was $70, 63.00 with our Good Sam card which we think was a bit pricey. Oddly, there was only one trash receptacle in the entire park.

    EZ Daze RV Park

    Nice Park off Interstate

Close to interstate, however last signage is a bit difficult to see. Clean, well maintained park with cement pads and nice grass in between.

    Wonderful place to stay!

Such a gem of a campground - 15 minutes off I-40 East but felt like a safe option a little ways out of the busy downtown Memphis area. From the moment I pulled in I could tell I had made a great choice - super clean showers, bathroom and laundry. The grounds are impeccable and sites and roads are all paved. Site 21 is nice and private at end of a row and is pull thru

    EZ Daze RV Park

Super Clean, Easy to get to from I-55

The park is very clean and exceptionally well maintained. Perfect overnight. One exit north has everything you need; food, Aldi's, Walmart.

The Dog Run is a huge area. We experienced a problem with our Powerdog 50 EPO Surge protector getting an E1 and E2 code error from the pedastals. The errors state that if the power is above 132 or below 104 on line 1 (E1) or line 2 (E2) it will shut off park power. We spoke to the office and moved spots, but received and E1 code error again. I took a chance and ran my unit without the protector. I tried it on another pedestal in the morning and received an E2 error code. I checked my Powerdog app and it showed 142.5 volts on line 2. Soooo....I'm not sure but will contact Hughes Autotransformers. Maybe it will be fine at the next stop?

The worst place in Memphis to stay

The management is sorry the do nothing but lie about everything

They threw us out because my son that is autistic for got to pick up the dog poop .

The place is so run down the don't have anything for kids or anything for the family to do .

They never in the office and they are very rude and if you say anything to them they will throw you out and not give you your money back .

Please anyone who is reading this for not stay there unless you want to hear gun shots all night long and you have to watch out because we have had a window busted out on are car and they said it's not there fault they let homeless walk through all times throughout the night and day because they never in the office and they have had drug addicts over dose in the park as well
