Beautiful grounds and very friendly hosts

Only tricky part is finding a level spot if you don't have leveling rams or jacks. Otherwise it's relatively well spaced apart sites with 20amp service. Clean modern facilities and beautiful grounds. Came in around $24 for our stay.

Nice campground; would come again

Nice large pull through lots for any size RV. A lot of walking trails, and several playgrounds for the kids. There is also a nice little beach for a place to hangout and swim in the river. Being local to the cities, it was a fun weekend family outing!

Gorgeous, quiet, friendly park!

This is a lovely place to stay in proximity to the Twin Cities. The Camp Host was one of the best we have ever met in over 200 nights in our travel trailer. The facility itself is spacious and all the amenities were first rate.

Top Shelf

Beautiful, spacious, trees but open. Nice trails, clean restrooms, level sites. No alcohol allowed and no pets! Fire rings, sturdy picnic table. Electric and water.

I made reservations online and when we arrived they said I had reserved a place at Elmo Lake which was 20 miles away. Same 2 county facilities but different campgrounds. Oops my bad. Different addresses!

Must Stay Campgry

Wow! Where do I start! The spots are huge and level, it’s one of the quietest campground we have been to. We love it! Minnesota is beautiful and there is so much to do here. The bathrooms are spotless and everything is new here. The employees checking you in are amazing and the hosts are personable, friendly, and helpful. This place gets a five star rating!!!

Great family campground

Washington County, which manages campgrounds at both the Lake Elmo Park Reserve and St Croix Bluffs Regional Park, does a great job of maintaining campgrounds, trails, and bathroom facilities at both parks. St Croix Bluffs is right along the St. Croix river - in the summer you can hang out at the sandy beach on the river and in the fall there are many trails to enjoy fall color.

There are multiple areas in the modern campground - one section is for larger rigs that has 50 amp service and water at each site, most sites in the other loops have 20 or 30 amp electric service, and there are a few non-electric tent-only sites as well. The park prohibits both pets and alcohol! There is both a volleyball court and nice play structure in the modern campground.

We camped over MEA break (mid October) at site #4 this year and liked how close it was to the bathroom building. There is a lot of open space behind the parking/tent pad on this site, which made it a perfect spot for the kids to run and play without running close to other camper's sites. Sites 1, 2, 4, and 6 have similar amounts of open space behind the campsites.

In the past we've stayed here as part of a group in the group campsite. The group campsites at this park are some of the best I've stayed in - they include sand volleyball courts, a covered picnic shelter with electricity, a primitive toilet, and access to a large play structure nearby.

Beautiful

This park is truly beautiful. Beach is great. Easy boat launch. Clean facility. The staff is super nice. Great hiking trails, bike trails, nearby horseback riding. Quick trip to Afton for lunch at Afton House Inn. Quick trip to Prescott for bloodies at Muddy Waters. (Park is a dry park.) My only wish is that my little dog could join us and they had full hook ups.

Great for group trip

This place has two group sites the one we stayed at Birch Hollow, hosts up to 20 campers and the other one up to 50. We absolutely loved this place, it was clean and separated from the other campers. Our site has a large picnic shelter with 6 picnic tables two grills and it’s own volleyball place. We also had a portable toilet included which was amazingly clean! The fire pit had two charming log benches and a ton of room for extra chairs. Most important we had electric hook ups and drinking water right on the site. I liked this spot because there is so much space to spread out, we had 5 tents set up and room to spare. A few down sides are that the nearest bathroom were about 1/4 mile down the road and they were closed:( so we kept having to drive even further into the park where the other campers stayed to use those bathrooms and showers...which were very clean but still it would be nice to have more than one portable toilet or at least have the closest bathhouse open... for the group sites. Another downside is YOU CANT BRING ALCOHOL OR PETS! I love my pooch but sadly she had to stay home with a dog sitter, and I love my piña colada’s but I could not enjoy them either... The beach was very nice to swim in, but was a bit crowded no surprise In mid July. And the trails were nice also... however, apparently there had been some bear sightings when we went, be ware of the bears I guess. We didn’t spot any on the trail but we did get visited by raccoons both nights so be sure to clean and put away food AND garbage before calling it a night. Will be coming back soon!

Beautiful sites on the river bluff

A great location along the St. Croix River, easily accessible from the Twin Cities or from West-Central Wisconsin.  The sites offer some privacy with most being laid out to benefit RV's and only a few tent-only sites.

This is a great park if you have a boat of any kind as you can launch from within the park in order to enjoy time on the St. Croix River.  We spent time both on the river and on the hiking trails within the park.

Many families come here for day trips as well since it was once a corporate retreat and, as such has open (lightly tree-covered grassland) with picnic tables.  Once the day-use people leave, it is a pretty quiet campground with most of the campers having younger children.  You might encounter some groups who come to spend a day on the water before returning to the campground later at night, but most campers are respectful of others and it's rarely very noisy.

Pricey but nice

With all the fees and price of wood we ended up spending as much as we would for a cheap hotel, but I guess it’s the experience that counts. The only reason I would come back is for the hikes. There is a beautiful little hidden waterfall that isn’t on any of the park maps and you have to go off the trail to find it.

Fun for the day

Fun day trip, visited in February on a warmer winter day. Lots of room for the dog to run around and good views of the river! Would be fun for a picnic in the summer and to play lawn games.
