Free and hike-in only, Clearwater Lake West Campsite sits along the Border Route Trail in Superior National Forest, reached after significant trail mileage heading eastbound from the BRT's start. The site is large enough for groups, with five tent spots and trees suited to hammock setups. It sits directly on Clearwater Lake, giving hikers access to filterable water from the lake itself. Toilets are on-site. Campers planning a multi-day BRT trip can find camping near Grand Marais for staging before hitting the trail. Bring water filtration gear, as the lake is the primary water source here.
