The campground draws a consistent crowd of road-trippers using it as an overnight stop between longer legs of travel. Sites are open and grassy rather than wooded, though reviewers note that site 13, at the back of the loop, offers more space and some tree cover, making it a good request for campers with dogs or those wanting a bit more separation. An on-site host greets arrivals, answers questions, and keeps things orderly. As Jim W. put it, "On site host, so typically quiet and friendly." Free firewood has been mentioned by multiple recent visitors as a welcome extra.
A paved walking and biking path runs directly through the campground, connecting to the surrounding area. The 60-foot Green Giant statue, a local landmark, is nearby and worth a quick stop. Downtown Blue Earth is less than two miles from the fairgrounds, covering resupply needs without much detour. Campers exploring camping near Blue Earth will find few options this close to the interstate with full hookups at this price point. Woods Lake Co Park is about eight miles south for those wanting a more natural setting on a subsequent night.
Mona Lisa B. noted that "for an incredibly low price, we were able to connect to water, dump, and electricity," which captures why this spot works well as a transit stop. Reviewers mention bugs can be noticeable in late June, so packing insect repellent for summer visits is worth the effort. Cell coverage has been reported as adequate by multiple visitors, and the campground also provides WiFi. Book ahead during peak summer travel weekends, as the site count is small enough that it fills quickly.
Description
The campground will soon have 14 electrical sites with full hookups. Currently there is a fee of $25.00 per night for the electrical sites, which includes free WiFi. The City allows extended stays at the campground if prior arrangements have been made with the campground host. The long-term rate is $20.00 (7 days or more with reservation and prepaid). There is a charge of $5.00 per site for an additional tent and a $5.00 charge for waste tank dumping. The dump station will be locked and the campground host will have the key. These amenities are looked after by the world’s largest statue of the Green Giant. Additional information on the campground can be found here.
