Tent camping at Groveland Oaks County Park

This park and campgrounds are very manicured with tons of RV, trailer and tent sites. The lake has a small shallow swimming area and beach that gets very busy during the day but less traffic right before sunset. There are lots of family activities like mini golf, kids bike courses and playgrounds. It’s a very large open family camping area. The staff are very nice and very busy making sure the grounds are perfectly maintained. I camped in the area F on the outer perimeter just down way of the beach area. I had plenty of room for my tent, awning and to park my SUV. The was electrical and water (non potable) at the site. During the weekdays I only had a few neighbors further down in tents or travel trailers. On Thursday almost all sites filled up with travel trailers. A park employee told me they would be fully booked for the next two weeks. Very nice camping, quiet. Holly Oaks Offroad park is across the street and Holly Recreation area is adjacent. Lots of great towns nearby like Fenton.

Park is nice but open to the public…

The spaces are nice and open. The playgrounds are new. There’s and arcade and beach. The downfall is that ots open to the public. This is our 4th year coming here and its now a common occurrence for stranger danger. If you’re an adult with no kids, you’ll have a great time!

Ok

Modern Campground. Clean. Gets crowded, especially during weekends. Great trails for day hiking. Lake is a 10 minute drive. I like staying here during the spring turkey hunting season.

Up North without the Drive

If your looking to get away, but still close to home and the convenience of commuting to work? Look no further. Spacious lots. Water and electric hookup. Great location for larger group camping. Friendly staff. Clean grounds. Dog friendly.

Eh

The whole “key card, locking gate” thing is cool, until i go to get food and all of a sudden i’m locked out of the campground & can’t get to my camper and dogs at 10pm. called both numbers on the sign to hear nothing but voicemails? waited 10 minutes, called a couple times and walked up to the office, not a dang person to help 🤨 had to drive around the gate to get in. this is not the first issue i’ve had here, unfortunately. & wouldn’t honestly recommend staying. sad too because the place is really really pretty, but management needs some love.

Nice Family Campground

Most sites are like a parking lot but the grounds are very well kept and a lot of activities for children. Nice concrete pads and new fire rings which were tall and safer for young ones.

Parking lot

Great for kids with lots of activities: arts/crafts, beach, water slide, etc but camping in a parking lot. Expect to hear every word from your neighbor’s conversations.

Beautiful Sites

Beautiful large sites, redoing the park in 2019. Great fire pits. Their reservation system was odd that they would let us reserve a site for the next day we had to drive out and go wait for it... but happy to stay their for a few nights.

Alright

Very open but ya some cool amenities like the water slide for kids. Paths are nice, just wish there was more trees and less chain linked fence.

SOOO much to do and what a beautiful place

We came here two years ago. My husband suggested the place because his family used to come here when he was a kid. There were many activities for everyone to do, especially for the kids. I don’t believe the cabins are pet friendly though. It’s probably the only reason we haven’t been back. We’ll definitely go back when we have a camper.

Family friendly filled with well organized activities

We joined a group site and meet up every major holiday at Groveland. We feel like we went up North without the driving four hours. The park is well laid out and includes a ton of fun activities for young and old.

Liked having full hook ups. But not many trees. We like the small swimming hole, the beach, the parks and putt putt.

Great County Campground

Large campground with lots of trails and activities (although we camped in early May so many activities were not open). We would think that different times of year provide different experiences and we camped for a week in early May so we were able to experience quiet mornings and afternoons, great walks with our four legged camperand invredible views of swans, geese and ducks as they introduced their new little ones to the area.

The campground has a large beach, boat rentals, bike paths plus a BMX area and several playgrounds. Most of the activities (IE beach and rentals) open Memorial Day.

The showers cost 25 cents and we heard some people complain but we thought that the showers were immaculate and the time allowed was quite sufficient for a nice shower without wasting water(and having visited several National Parks with quarter showers, we were used to a cost).

We travel in a 42 ft motorhome and suggest if you are traveling in a large rig, drive through the park to find an appropriate site. We had called ahead but the site they had reserved for us would not have worked. Luckily, the people in our site had not left yet and we found a very good site for our stay. We are not Michigan residents anymore but we would not hesitate to return to Groveland Oaks!

Kid friendly

This campground has a lake for swimming, water slide, arcade, boat rentals, mini golf, biking trails and fishing. Lots for kids to do... also skate park and 2 playgrounds. Full hookup area is away from most of the weekend traffic with a short cut to get to where all the kids stuff is located. I think it is a little pricier than most monthly rentals in southeast Michigan. We chose for the convenient location for spending the weekends. Our campsite was a little difficult to get into because it was on a curve and there was a seasonal camper with a Class A right across from our site which didn’t allow for a lot of space to maneuver our 26 ft travel trailer. It was, however, fairly close to the park and restrooms.
