Nice Overnight

Fairly easy access for our 42 ft motor home with jeep tow. Only one night available as we were staying on a Thursday and everything booked for the weekend. Site was level and easy to maneuver. Good WiFi. Bathhouse was clean. Did not use laundry but bathhouse also contained small laundry area as well as library and puzzle/game area. One shower for men and one for women so time your grooming. Water is definitely hard but again, shower was clean. Interior roads get muddy but still provide a place to exercise your four legged camper. There are a couple of ponds at which people fish sand a couple of small playground areas. The campground host was very helpful. Apparently the owners are moving so there is some question of whether the campground will continue. We definitely would stay again for a night!

Unique Campground

We camped in our 42 ft motor home with jeep tow. Reservations are made online. There is also an on-site kiosk with pay envelopes. The Fairgrounds has done extensive work on their campground with at least 16 full hook up fifty amp sites and 16 electric only sites. The area is grass but we were the only campers and were able to easily level with angle parking. Camping is not available during events so check the Fairgrounds calendar. Being on the campground and amidst the buildings and tents makes for an interesting camping experience. Restrooms and showers are available and as you are at the Fairgrounds, the facilities are farm-type. There is WiFi for an extra few (there is also a library nearby with free WiFi!) There are lots of great places to exercise your four legged camper and we would certainly return if in the area!

Wonderful County Park Campground

We stayed in our 42 ft motor home with jeep tow. We drove to the park in our jeep at nine am on a Sunday to check availability. If you haven’t reserved a site, there are several sites for walk-ins but you have to be present to sign/obtain them. Check out time is three pm but weekend people often leave earlier in the day and that is what occurred for us. Several sites have 50 amp plus there are thirty amp And non electric/tent sites available. The campground has showers and bathrooms but this is a county park so understand these are not hotel facilities. They are adequate for campIng. There are biking and hiking trails in and through the park and trail users also share the restrooms. The park is close to Madison. There is WiFi but the signal is variable. The ranger and campground hosts were friendly and helpful. Four legged campers on leash can walk with you on the trails and there is s nearby dog park.

Overnight

Easy Access. Grass Sites with easy entry for our 42 ft motor home without disconnecting our tow vehicle. 50 amp., water. And this small campground has great WiFi !

This is a small overnight spot (perhaps 20 spaces?) but the manager is incredibly helpfull and his positive friendly manner will have us stop in again if we find ourselves in the area.

There is an adjacent country road that was good for exercising our four legged camper.

There are two single restrooms and porta potties.

This is urban “camping” but with our Passport America discount(and the heatwave this summer) we find ourselves looking for places to “plug in” while we explore surrounding areas.

Restful Rustic Camping

Stayed here in our 42ft Motor Home. Difficult to find available camping due to Fourth of July holiday and unexpected heat made Boondocking in a parking lot less than desirable so we decided to give this campground a try. Easy access from Hwy. Owner of campground let us check out the sites to find a fit-we prefer few to no trees and we found a site which allowed us to level our coach and spot satellites easily. Not many campers here so we are thinking that we will have quiet nights! There are two sites with full hookups but we only needed water and electric (a rate of 23$/night is quite appealing!) Restrooms are sketchy but useable. Showers will certainly work with flip flops! Our four legged camper loves the country setting and we will use this campground as a base to explore Menominee to Green Bay. For WiFi there is a library a bit over a mile away.

Casino Campground

Clean, friendly, easy access. The campground is across the (not busy) street from the casino and bay. The bathrooms and showers are clean and they have a small laundry. This is a great spot to use as base while exploring the many area sites! We have a 42 ft motor home with jeep tow so camping in Tahquamenon was not an option for us. We only needed electric and water so $29/night was what we paid. The WiFi is great and apparently they have great cable(we have satellite and so we did not connect to cable). Our ATT reception was three bars.

Great Waterside City Park

A bit tricky to maneuver but once you are set up this is a great city waterfront park! The sites are close but the view and proximity to outdoor walking make this a campground we will return to visit.

The campground host is helpful and if you get a chance, purchase a book he wrote to enjoy a coming of age in the Upper Pennisula story!

Love Houghton and exploring the history and geology of the area.

We camped for a week in our 42 ft motor home with jeep. We walked the water view trail daily with our four legged camper. There is a city beach/park adjacent to the campground and although there are no restrooms or showers at the campground, there are restrooms at the adjacent beach area.

We were able to access the campground WiFi and our satellite had a good signal. ATT coverage was good.

Quiet Gen

Small RV Campground within Golf Resort. 24 spaces. Cement pads, full hookups, quiet, great WiFi. No restrooms but if you are in the area(Hillman Michigan) this is a great place to rest and relax!

There is a good restaurant on site and lovely walking area. Although you are nestled amidst the golf course, you can walk the cart paths before or after the days golfers.

The camp host is very helpful and guided us to our site(we were worried about being able to maneuver the trees with our 42 ft coach but no worries!)

The WiFi is exceptional and our satellite had no difficulty in spotting a signal. Our phone coverage was very good. Our four legged camper had a great time sniffing out the local deer!

There are several “packages” including camping and golf (if that’s what you enjoy) and at times you can take a horse drawn Elk tour or participate in a Murder Mystery weekend.

We came for and enjoyed the quiet! And with Passport America the price was great at two nights for $39.

Last Campground before Canada

Sparse but easy access and easy parking. Full hookups, showers(wear flip flops), WiFi in building. Stopped before crossing into Canada on our way to Alaska. This is a barebones campground but not much in this area and we wanted to plug in before heading north. Lots of prairie dogs and bunnies to entertain our four legged camper.

Simple Casino Campground

Small parking area with spaces for RVs. You go inside the casino/store to pay. This is a no hook up parking area at one side of the large lot. The area is quiet and the casino and restaurants are within easy walking distance. There are bathrooms inside the casino which is open 24 hrs. We had ATT coverage and satellite service. There is an area to walk your four legged camper. The sites are level and the nights were quiet with the exception of car race night (there is a track across the street).

The casino parking lot is huge and we boondocked on one short visit to the area.

This is a safe spot to spend a night or two when traveling from coast to coast.

Casino Campground

Near Escanaba, this clean campground is easily accessible from a Highway 2. The campground is at the back of the casino tucked amidst tall trees. The sites are level and we were able to easily navigate the looped areas. The bathrooms are clean and there was plenty of space for our four legged camper to exercise. There is a shuttle to the casino for those who are interested but it was easily walkable. For those who just want to boondock, the casino parking lot is safe and has adequate space. Our satellite was able to locate channels and we had ATT connectivity. We have stayed here twice on our travels and would not hesitate to return.

Superior Campground

Wonderful campground beside Lake Superior. We had a site backed up to the lake and enjoyed the sound of Lake Superior waves! Quiet and friendly, this campground is great for those who enjoy Up North in Michigan (like us!). Lots of places to walk our four legged camper (and us!) Plenty of room to pull in and park our 42 ft motor home! No WiFi but our ATT allowed us to remain connected and our Dish satellite had a good signal. There are bathrooms and areas for group camping. We would not hesitate to camp here again!

Bayside Campground

Sites large enough for our 42 ft motor home! Level, quiet, close to shopping and a nice walk/bike trail along the bay. Great area to relax and explore the area and perfect for our four legged camper. This is a city park, small but nice for a few night stay. No WiFi but our ATT had service and we have satellite TV with clear signal.

Boondocking Area

Bureau of Land Management site. 14 day limit. Easy access and we were able to park our 42 ft motor home easily. The area is quiet with trails and lots of area to walk your four legged camper! We saw horseback riders and ATVs enjoying the area. We were able to stay in contact (ATT ) and the city is within an easy drive for supplies. This is a boondock area. Be aware that while camping here you are sharing the area with wildlife (including rattlers). Boondocking etiquette applies (pick up trash and leave the area cleaner than when you arrived). We have camped here several times and will certainly return!

Commercial Campground

Clean, level sites, big rig friendly campground. Easy access. Several swimming pools and laundry facilities. Restaurant with very good food. LazyDays RV is affiliated with campground and you can attend informational sessions or shop for RV needs with an easy walk! They have a very nice dog area for your four legged camper.

Great County Campground

Large campground with lots of trails and activities (although we camped in early May so many activities were not open). We would think that different times of year provide different experiences and we camped for a week in early May so we were able to experience quiet mornings and afternoons, great walks with our four legged camperand invredible views of swans, geese and ducks as they introduced their new little ones to the area.

The campground has a large beach, boat rentals, bike paths plus a BMX area and several playgrounds. Most of the activities (IE beach and rentals) open Memorial Day.

The showers cost 25 cents and we heard some people complain but we thought that the showers were immaculate and the time allowed was quite sufficient for a nice shower without wasting water(and having visited several National Parks with quarter showers, we were used to a cost).

We travel in a 42 ft motorhome and suggest if you are traveling in a large rig, drive through the park to find an appropriate site. We had called ahead but the site they had reserved for us would not have worked. Luckily, the people in our site had not left yet and we found a very good site for our stay. We are not Michigan residents anymore but we would not hesitate to return to Groveland Oaks!

Boondocking at Cabela’s

Large parking lot for RVs(separate from trucks). Quiet, level with area to walk your four legged camper. We stayed for two nights. The store is huge and there are several restaurants within walking distance (plus Cabela’s has a nice cafeteria!) We always shop at the business that allows Boondocking and while urban camping is not our preference, Cabela’s offers a nice place to take a break when traveling from one destination to another!

There is a separate area with a sanidump. Bathrooms are inside the store.

The store itself is an experience! They have an extensive selection of camping, fishing and outdoor items.

Great Overnight Stop

Great place to stop and recover from the road! Close to I75, level sites, laundry, showers, two dog areas and a store and restaurant. The managers are wonderful! We do not travel with children but the campground has a nice playground, nine hole puttputt, pool and other recreational activities. The campground is very clean and quiet at night so you can totally recover from ghe road!
