Great trail

Great dispersed camping area to getaway! Can sometimes get busy on the weekends, but nothing like a normal campsite. Think it’s just this summer but I did pull 2 ticks off the dogs after this hike.

Make sure to pack bug spray and be sure to check out the mini-waterfall near mile marker 3!

Great trails and river access

Very rustic and walk-in only, but great place to get away for a bit. Barely any people as well. Make sure you bring bug spray

Rugged beauty

Nordhouse is a fantastic place if you’re into backpacking and rugged camping. No facilities, or hookups, but great place to relax on the water

Great view of Lake Huron

Spots are small at best, but campground is clean and quiet with no bugs and great view of Lake Huron

The atmosphere of Yellowstone, in a crowded park

Everyone needs to at least visit and potentially camp Yellowstone at least once. However, I have never been impressed with the Yellowstone campgrounds. They seem to care more about fitting in the vast number of tourists than spreading anything out so it does sort of resemble an RV Park (with great views and fresh air).

They have great facilities, and this seems to be one of the less crowded campgrounds, I just wish the sites gave you more space.

By the way. Don’t be the idiot that thinks park wildlife is tame

Beautiful and remote

Lake level was super low when we went, and smog from forest fires, but overall a superb campground. Easy access to old firetower trails for dirt biking/quads, great fishing and tons of wildlife. Every morning we saw elk and big horn sheep.

Each campsite is well spaced, with a firepit and grill cover.

Buggy

Love this park for hiking, not as much so for camping. Always seem to be swamped with mosquitos no matter how much bug spray or citronella you use

Parking lot

Great for kids with lots of activities: arts/crafts, beach, water slide, etc but camping in a parking lot. Expect to hear every word from your neighbor’s conversations.

Can’t beat waking up to these views

Be ready to come early and wait in line to grab a campsite. After 9-10am, except most sites to be full.

We got lucky and had a hard sided sprinter van. Rest of campground was evacuated with an overly aggressive black bear. BRING BEAR SPRAY, especially in August.

This was my second trip to Glacier. Later in the summer you do run the risk of forest fire smog, but I can’t recommend this campground high enough

Great views, great campsites

One early to grab a spot but so worth the early trip, especially if you’re able to grab a spot right on the lake.

Great location

Great rustic location right on the lakeshore and Nordhouse Dunes. Don’t expect cell service. Only issue I’ve had is the mosquitos which were terrible when I went in July

Easily best State Park in Michigan

Review title says it all. I keep going back to this state park every year. Lakeside reservations fill super quickly (like 8:01am the day it opens) but this park is fantastic. Always seems to have a breeze off the lake that pushes the bugs out

Great campground and lake

Camped at West Branch State Park for two nights while visiting Cuyahoga National Park (30-40min drive). Super spacious campground lots, great facilities and restrooms, and very private. Beautiful lake. If you have the opportunity to nab a lakefront spot camping you should take it.
