Elk Hill Equestrian River Trail Campground sits within the forested landscape of Pigeon River Country State Forest Area, designed specifically for horse camping. The Michigan DNR manages this year-round facility with amenities including toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, plus RV accommodation up to 40 feet. Horse-specific features include manure bunkers, solid poles for highline tying, and both pump water and river access for animals. Cell phone reception exists but remains spotty throughout the area. Campers can also explore camping spots near Wolverine for additional options in the region.
