Hungry Horse Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Hungry Horse Campground, a full-hookup family campground in Dorr, Michigan, open May 1 through October 1. Sites accommodate RVs with electric, water, and sewer connections, and a dump station is on-site for those who need it. Drive-in access is straightforward, though reviewers flag road navigation within the campground as something to pay attention to, noting that not everyone follows the one-way signage. Pull-through sites are available and staff have been known to help when a reserved site doesn't fit a larger rig.

Activities here skew heavily toward families with young children. Multiple reviewers confirm the campground has a pool, a toddler pool, a jump pad, playgrounds, mountain bike trails, and wagon rides. Planned events like ice cream socials and meet-and-greets have been offered on weekends and throughout the week, though availability can vary by season. The campground sits near a lake, and sites are described as well-spaced, which helps with the volume of kids that tend to be running around during peak season.

Facilities are consistently noted as clean across multiple visits. Vivianne M. describes them as "fairly clean and easily accessible," and a reviewer who has camped here for 13 years echoes that. One note: some activities and craft events carry separate fees, which at least one camper found added up quickly. Campers looking at campsites near Wayland or nearby options like Sandy Pines Resort and East Lake Camping will find Hungry Horse fits best for families who want a structured, activity-filled stay rather than a low-key retreat.

Small Campground, Big enjoyment!

We have been camping here for 13 years. We love how kid and adult friendly it is and it’s super clean! The lots are well spaced and we have never had a bad time here! Even when it rains!

Extremely nice people

Had a great experience at this campground. Everybody was extremely nice. We couldn’t fit our trailer into the site we reserved. They were very understanding and found us a pull thru site to use. There was lots for the kids to do at the campground including playground, jump pad, mountain bike trails, hayrides, barrel rides, and a pool. Although we were there a little too early in the year to use the pool. They also offered plenty of activities throughout the weekend. Great place. Will definitely go back.

Great owners!

The owners here were so sweet and found a spot for us just before closing at 9pm. The campground had kids playing everywhere but it was still quiet and very clean. Would absolutely stay here again.

Home Away From Home

We have two young girls and they had plenty to do all week during our stay. Multiple playgrounds, toddler pool and regular pool, jump pad, and lots of room to run around. They also typically offer planned activities throughout the week such as wagon rides, meet and greets, and ice cream socials (covid has altered it a bit). The owners seem to geniely care about the guest. One example was when our girls were playing in the toddler pool after the posted 8pm close time for that specific area. Norm turned the water feature back on in that pool because he saw we were using it (the main pool was to crazy at the time). Stuff like this makes us want to continue to come back. Also honey wagon is a great service in a non sewer hookup lot. They get it done quick! Prices seem reasonable for the amount of stuff to do.

It’s ok

They overcharge for EVERYTHING! While there we over heard them planning a craft event (horse pool noodles) they said they paid $3.00 for all supplies combined and planned on charging each child $4.00! 🤬 They could careless if people drive the wrong way on their roads. The only plus to this place is the playground right in the middle of the park, oh and the $1.50 wagon ride! We’d never stay here again.

Nice smaller sized family friendly campground. Enjoyed having activities to do, the jump pillow and pool!

Small and family-oriented!

Cute little campground in a small town in Dorr, Michigan. Lots of activities, swimming, wagon rides, jump pad, and more. Facilities were fairly clean and easily accessible. My favorite was that they offered social activities on the weekends for people to meet one another. Would highly recommend and am looking forward to future visits!
