The restaurant in the park was yummy and so convenient," noted one visitor. Other cabin camping options near Spencerville include Patapsco Valley State Park, Ramblin' Pines in Woodbine, and Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg, all offering varying levels of rustic to furnished cabin rentals.

Depending on the location, cabins range from basic rustic structures to fully furnished units with kitchenettes and private bathrooms. Cherry Hill Park and Washington DC Capitol KOA provide more upscale cabin options with amenities like air conditioning, while parks such as Patapsco Valley offer more traditional cabin experiences. Most properties require advance reservations, particularly during summer months from April through October. Pet policies vary by location, with many campgrounds including Cherry Hill Park and Ramblin' Pines welcoming pets in designated cabins. A camper wrote, "We tent camped there two years ago, at one of their premium sites (totally worth the extra $). I grew up camping and had never been at a campground that was this clean."

Most cabin rentals provide beds with mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, blankets, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary considerably - some cabins include only basic outdoor fire rings with grills, while others feature microwaves, mini-refrigerators, and cooking utensils. Cherry Hill Park and several other nearby campgrounds maintain on-site stores with camping necessities, firewood, and basic groceries. Artillery Ridge Campground

Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

      Bull Run Regional Park

Site #133 — Great site once you figure out the best way to get into it

We stayed in site #133 with our 34'10" travel trailer/toy hauler. Overall, we really like the site. It's spacious, fairly level, heavily wooded, and feels surprisingly private. There's plenty of room around the camper, and although there are other campsites and cabins nearby, the trees provide a lot of separation. We had a nice large area for our chairs, fire pit, picnic table, and dogs. The biggest thing to know about #133 is the approach. We were instructed to pass the site, go around the loop, and then make a left turn into it. With our nearly 35' trailer, that would have required an extremely tight, almost 90-degree turn between the trees, and we did not feel we could safely make it. There is actually visible damage on one of the trees at the entrance, so it appears others may have had difficulty with the turn as well. Instead, we approached from the opposite direction and positioned the camper with our doors facing the main campsite area. That put the water and electric hookups on the opposite side, but our hoses and cord were long enough to run underneath the camper and reach without a problem. Once we figured that out, the site worked very well for us. I initially thought we probably wouldn't choose #133 again because of the awkward setup, but after spending the weekend here, I would. Now that we know how to approach and position our trailer, it really is a nice site. If you're bringing a longer travel trailer, just be prepared to do a little maneuvering and make sure your water hose and electrical cord have enough length if you decide to orient your camper the way we did.

      Gambrill State Park Campground

      Great Camp Spot

This is a great camping spot. The sites aren’t too close together and the hosts are very friendly. The only reason I gave it four stars is because we are near a highway so you can hear cars throughout the night. But the crickets make up for it by being as loud as possible. With the fees, it cost $25 for a non-electric site and with access to showers after a long trek I was happy to pay.

      Little Bennett Campground

      Great Potential?

We stayed at Little Bennett starting on Labor Day Monday and left before the weekend, so it is hard to say how this looks when the campground is full of life. They had quite a few activities for families and a pavilion capable of concerts and such, but there was minimal activity during our stay. My biggest complaint is that the gate code changed and we didn't get any notice--so after a long day and a dinner out near Baltimore (nearly an hour away), I had to call the police to get back to my camper. Otherwise, the campsite was relatively spacious and quiet. The bugs were a little rough. Lots of whitetail running around.

    What to do

Hiking and nature trails: Little Bennett Campground maintains over 20 miles of trails through mature hardwood forests. "We found everything reasonably priced. There are lots of easy, but beautiful hikes," noted a visitor to Patapsco Valley State Park, which connects to extensive trail networks.

Water activities: Pohick Bay Campground provides access to the Potomac River for boating and fishing. "Beautiful campground located near the National Harbor. Eagles everywhere!" one camper observed. The park maintains boat rental facilities a short walk from the campsites.

Historical exploration: Bull Run Regional Park offers proximity to Civil War sites and historical markers. "This park has a lot of history near by so check out the old battle fields and buildings that housed troops during civil war," a reviewer mentioned, highlighting educational opportunities within 30 minutes of the cabin sites.

    What campers like

Privacy between sites: Cabins at Little Bennett Campground feature natural buffers for privacy. "Very quiet campground. A bit pricey, but has a full hookup loop. Other loops are tent only. Wonderful bath house. Lots of stuff to do," observed one camper who appreciated the layout.

Clean facilities: Washington DC / Capitol KOA maintains well-rated bathroom and shower facilities. "Clean, quiet and peaceful. We all slept well in the clean and comfortable cabin. The campground is a safe place for families," noted a visitor who stayed in one of their rental cabins.

Proximity to urban attractions: Ramblin' Pines provides a strategic location for exploring nearby cities. "The place was nice, lots for kids to do, plenty of shaded spots! They even allowed us to store the camper while we took a cruise out of Baltimore!" one visitor commented, highlighting the convenience factor.

    What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most cabin rentals near Spencerville require booking well in advance during peak season. At Patapsco Valley State Park, cabins are only available "April 1 to October 30" according to their official season dates.

Accommodation variations: Cabin styles range significantly between locations. "The best part of this campground are the neat mini cabins. Small one room cabins that have electricity and heat. They are a nice touch for those that want to camp, but not completely 'rough it,'" wrote a visitor to Patapsco Valley State Park.

Site conditions: Bull Run Regional Park offers pull-through sites in wooded settings. "The sites are all pull-through off the roads through the campground. So your camper faces the woods and you feel like you're all alone," explained one reviewer, though noting "I could see that some others were not so much [level], so you might want to ask about that."

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Little Bennett Campground features multiple playground areas throughout the facility. "This is our second time here. This place is quiet, the spaces are big. They can accommodate large campers, ours is 35 ft. Tent camping have big areas. Lost of nature trails," commented a family that returned to the park.

Bathroom proximity: When booking cabins with children, note the distance to facilities. One camper at Patapsco Valley State Park mentioned, "Bathhouse was kept clean and the camp host was a great guy. The only thing we didn't like is how many roaches we saw everywhere and that they don't sell ice."

    Tips from RVers

Utility connections: Adventure Bound Washington DC provides full hookup options with reliable connections. "Location wise, it's great to see things in area. Both Washington DC and many area's along the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis, Chesapeake Beach, Solomon's Etc. The sites are very close but adequate," observed one RV camper.

Site leveling considerations: Bull Run Regional Park requires attention to leveling at some sites. "Our site was very level, but I could see that some others were not so much, so you might want to ask about that," advised an RVer, suggesting contacting the park office for specific site information.

Weather preparedness: Many cabin locations experience significant seasonal weather variations. A camper at Little Bennett noted, "When it rains it really flushes through the grounds. We had a site on the lower end of the loop and our site was hard to set up as we arrived during a storm and it was very wet even after the rain died down."
