South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

    ALMOST PERFECT

This was my first time at this beautiful state park. I will definitely come back! 3 days was not long enough to do everything! Our camper site was #46. It had a very large well kept wooden deck with a picnic table. The camper pad was long and concrete. It was slightly uneven, we used 3 blocks to level it off..There was also a large sand pad if you preferred a tent. A firepit was also there. Many of the other sites also had decks, with the same things available. It had water and electricity, a dump station, and very clean shower/restrooms . Also available were primitive camping sites with amazing views. Oh, did I mention that our site had a very short walk to a dock overlooking the beautiful lake. This dock had room for four boats! There are beautiful biking, and hiking trails, both concrete and dirt. Several play areas for the kids! There was a beach and swimming area, a nature center,, and playgrounds. The camp hosts were amazing and very helpful. The park was super clean, family and pet friendly, and a great price at 28 dollars a night. Happy camping!!

Toledo Bend Recreation Site - MILITARY

    Family Friendly, prime fishing location.

The Army Recreation sight managed by MWR is a very well run campground and boat launch. Making a reservation was easy, and the lady i made the reservation with initially even called to follow up when the weather turned ugly.

Our stay was in one of their Yurts. Though they do have cabins as well as primitive camping options. The yurt was supplied with two bunks, the bottoms being a a full size with the top bunks being twins. Amenities included heating and air conditioning as well as a mini fridge, keurig, and a couple of small drawers and a lamp. The only real complaint i can say i had was some of the linoleum tile was loose inside. Other than that, the yurt was an interesting cross between cabin and tent.

Fishing is also very available, as well as playground, boat launch, boat rentals and R.V. accommodations as well.

We may just go back and try a cabin next time as the temperatures have been getting cold here.

Also be aware, there is a one time pet fee when staying in the cabins and yurts.

South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

Camping, canoeing & kayaking, at S. Toledo Bend State Park, west Louisiana

Nice state park on western boundary of Louisiana along Toledo Bend Reservoir. Camping here is usually quite nice from late Oct through late April. Only (5) undeveloped campsites are available for tents/hammocks only. They have a great view looking out over the huge lake. Each has a picnic table and a fire ring w/ steel grill rack. On weekends you must reserve campsites/cabins for a minimum of two nights when doing online reservations. There is a large number of improved campsites that have water and electrical hook-ups, and quite a few cabins that can be rented, some of which also have a nice view of the lake. Bathhouse was fairly clean whenever I have been there, and has showers, sinks, and flush toilets. I would have given this park's camping area a 5-star rating, but there was no hot water left to take a nice warm shower during my last visit. Toledo Bend Reservoir is the #1 bass fishing lake in America 2 years in a row. Clean water and a few sandy beaches along the two small nearby islands are great for hanging out on when canoeing/kayaking/ boating. Bald Eagles are often seen during late Fall, Winter months, and early Spring. Please note that the raccoons are professional thieves at this state park, so you need to put your food away at night.

South Toledo Bend State Park Campground

    Excellent Primitive Experience

Primitive campsites are clean, include a picnic table and fire pit, and are nestled on a bluff overlooking Toledo Bend. The park offers a comfort station within walking distance of the primitive sites that includes air-conditioned bathrooms and showers, coin-operated laundry, and water fountains. Multiple trails, a boat launch, fish cleaning station, swimming area, and more! We had a great experience and plan to return as often as we can. I couldn’t expect any more for less than $20/night.

    BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS

We stayed at site #3, which was pretty much full sun. But, it was on the water with access to the water. Full hookups, concrete pads. Very clean, but dated restrooms. Laundry room was available. Boat launch, fishing, beautiful playground, gorgeous flower beds. No grocery on grounds. The grounds people were busy putting out Christmas decorations! Seems that they have a huge beautiful display every year.

    Lotus Camp

    Tree roots and trails

Isnide the Kisatchie National Forest, Kisatchie District Lotus campground offers water, flush toilets and easy access to the Sandstone Trail. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table and lots of tree roots. This campground is designated for off road vehicle campers as opposed to horse campers. A bit scary when it started raining and we were under those big beautiful trees, but we made it through. Again, the campgrounds in this area are so well marked and easy to find. There is a $3 per night fee to camp here and a $5 trail use fee.

    Cypress Bend State Rec Area

Peaceful Lakeside Getaway with Great Amenities 🌲🎣

We had a fantastic stay at Cypress Bend State Recreation Area! The park is beautifully maintained and set on the edge of Toledo Bend Lake, offering some truly scenic views, especially at sunset. We stayed at one of the RV sites—super convenient with full hookups(water, sewer, and electric), and the grounds were quiet and peaceful. The waterfront cabins also looked very cozy and well-equipped—definitely planning to try one next time. Highlights for us were the renovated beach area, clean restrooms, and the lighted fishing pier, which made evening fishing a treat. There's also a playground and volleyball court, which is great if you're bringing kids. The$2 entrance fee is more than reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful, especially with late arrival check-in info. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing nature escape, whether you're camping, fishing, or just looking to unwind by the lake! https://scriptbaldeball.com/

    Powell

Beautiful lake, Spotless Camp grounds, Awesome Staff

Went to Powell not knowing what to expect.  The lake is beautiful, the camp grounds are spotless and the Staff is awesome.  Great facilities whether tent camping, RV camping or staying in a cabin.  Cabins are small and rustic as you would expect but very clean.  What you’d want since you will be outside enjoying the great outdoors!  Boat rentals, pontoons for larger groups, fishing, water sports, they have it all.  Did I mention how awesome the staff is??? So accommodating and friendly.  We will be back!
