    Modern and Clean

It is so quiet and peaceful here. We came on a weekday, and the campground was not even half occupied. The grounds are neat, well-maintained, and clean. The sites are adequately spaced, but there is very little vegetation to provide privacy. The restrooms and showers are modern, clean, and in great working order.

There is a recently renovated historical museum across the street with very friendly staff. The short walking trail includes a beautiful wildflower garden and kiosks with historical information. There is also an onsite disc course!

This campground is a hidden gem!

    Peaceful

Many open spots. Beautiful and quiet. Our GPS put us on a dirt road for a few miles - however it was well maintained and not too rutted. Large camping spot with fire ring. Clean area. Definitely a gem in the trees.

    Rayburn

    Off season is the move

My friends and family decided to book this place in late January. We say exactly 3 other people for the entire duration of our 3 day stay.

The sunrise and sunset are some of the best I’ve seen and the water though cold is beautiful and the sounds of loons, mourning doves, and coyotes hand in the air through the day and night.

This camp is quite deep in the middle of nowhere and I could t find any established hiking paths near by but I perhaps could have missed them.

Park host is super vigilant so if you feel like getting into some trouble, I’d look for another campsite instead of this one.

    Excellent & Gorgeous

Would be 5 stars except it's close enough to the road that you get traffic noise. I camped early January and was the only tent camper, quite enjoyable. Very pretty lake view and sunsets and sunrise are delightful. Showers are warm, not the hottest, but welcome nontheless.

    fantastic

The campground caretakers are fantastic! The grounds are consistently well-maintained, with neatly mowed lawns and cleared pine needles. I love the spacious layout of the campsites, and the view of the Rayburn sunset is simply unmatched! Big Shot Boxing

Beautiful Lost Frontier RV Park and Grill

Incomparable beauty located on a tranquil harbor off of Toledo Bend Reservoir, one of the top 5 bass fishing lakes in the US.  Cabins and lakeview RV sites on a bay surrounded by beautiful unscarred National Forest.  A wildly popular restaurant and grill offering live entertainment every weekend.  Kids love the swimming pool and splash deck and nearby jungle gym.

Best Place To Camp on Lake Sam Rayburn!

We absolutely love this park!  RV and tent sites right on the water, beach area for swimming, boat docks and ramp, etc.  We extended our stay and plan to for awhile!  The staff is so welcoming!  Oh and there are 13 gorgeous cabins for rent!  I highly recommend this park!

    Big rig friendly

Nice large pull through sites with easy hook ups. We stayed here for 4 days due to proximity to Kisatchie National Forest for the Red Dirt Ultra. We liked having laundry on site, clean and affordable. Our kids loved our long horn neighbors! Many residents here but not at all over whelming and everyone was very nice. Had a small pool but it was not open during our visit.

COE Sam Rayburn Reservoir San Augustine Park

Clean, quiet, spacious, and great lake views

1/26/23-1/30/23- This is a great COE campsite that is spacious, clean, quiet, and site#63 has lake views on 3 sides. A picnic table, fire-pit, lantern post, 30A electric, and water are provided. This is a back-in site that slopes significantly to the rear(lake side) though. I needed to lower the front of my 34’ fifth wheel trailer 16” to level it; L/R leveling was reasonable needing 1/2” on the right side. The grassy area around the site would be great for outdoor games and the water access would be great to fish from shore, boat access to the site, or swimming. The staff were very congenial and the dump station is conveniently located on the right side just before exiting the campground. Verizon 4G was 4-bars with 20Mbps download and 2Mbps upload speeds. I paid$13/night with my Interagency Senior Pass. Too bad that it was rainy most of the weekend and we didn’t have nicer weather.

    Peace and quiet

Cabins are beautiful. Animals were awesome. They had exotic waterfowl, emus, cows, peacocks, donkeys, miniature horses, and more. The place was so peaceful and quiet. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There’s a small gift shop that has all that you need if you left something. They do have a restaurant on sight. There’s also a water park right next door.

Forest Road 380 Kisatchi National Forest

    Secluded 100% Primitive

Let me start of by saying there is ZERO cell service. We might have been able to set our phones down and it get ONE Bar, but as soon as you pick it up it’s gone.

The road is fine. A little hard to get through if it’s wet. The spots to stay in have very rutted roads. Pretty easy to take just about anything down it.

There are about 5 camp areas. a few of them are group sites. Very large and spacious.

The stay here is 30 days. No bathroom. No trash pick up. No water hook ups.

There is however, a natural spring that is piped just as you enter FR380. Locals come here to fill water. It’s very fresh and refreshing.

It normally is warm all year round here. But we d coded to camp in every state so far when an artic blast is moving through. So, normally in december it’s not 12 degrees for a high ANYWHERE in this state.

It rained about 16-17 days of our stay, but we did find some amazing things. My first time finding and eating Lions Maine Mushrooms.

Lots of trash behind some of the sites. Can definitely tell it’s a party spot. Or at least it used to be.

All in all, this place is so secluded that no one drives out here and it’s 100% peaceful. I will definitely return to this spot.

    Coyote Camp

    Secluded

The road here is a little rutted out and has a couple of potholes, but nothing crazy.

This is our second time this year staying here and in the winter it’s definitely a different galaxy all together than the spring.

Not as many bugs but it’s still warm and temps reached the mid 80’s.

We have seen a lot of snakes and it rains a lot. Some bees but not a serious nuisance. So just be aware when walking on the trails. Lots of deer and bobcats.

Absolutely no highway noise and the bathrooms are always stocked and cleaned.

    No water or trash pickup.

When we arrived on this visit the campsite at the end (the roundabout) had been stripped of its fire pit and the HUGE logs we used to sit on. So we had to pick up trash and rebuild the pit.

Some people on the weekends rode their dirt bikes and OHV’s. That wasn’t too bad, not too obnoxious.

Plenty to explore so plan on visiting here for more than just a night.
