    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Bogue Chitto State Park Campground features extensive horse trails and accommodations for equestrians near Kentwood, Louisiana. The campground includes water and electrical hookups for RVs, dedicated sites for tent camping, and cabins for those seeking additional amenities. Multiple reviews mention the well-maintained horse trails that wind through the 1,786-acre park. Trail riders will find both wooded areas and riverside paths suitable for all skill levels, with opportunities to spot local wildlife. The park maintains clean facilities with picnic tables and fire rings at each site, and many campsites allow horses to be kept nearby during overnight stays.

The trail system at Bogue Chitto connects to several scenic areas including the river beach and multiple lakes. Riders can access miles of maintained bridle paths directly from the campground without trailering to separate locations. Sweetwater Campground RV Ranch also accommodates horses in the area, offering RV sites with full hookups and cabin options for equestrians. The campground provides a peaceful setting with nearby water features. Some low-hanging tree limbs may present challenges for those with horse trailers, so caution is advised when navigating the grounds. Both campgrounds require reservations, especially during peak seasons when equestrian campers are most active. Proper manure management and adherence to park rules regarding horses are expected at all facilities.

      Land-O-Pines Family Campground

      Pleasant campground

Land-O-Pines is a nice private RV park near Folsom and Covington. We stayed two nights because my daughter was in a horse competition at a nearby horse farm. The sites are mostly shady. The streets and sites are gravel and can get a little muddy in spots after a rain. The park was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly. About half the sites are for permanent users.

Stayed in pull-through campsite C69 which was shady and level. It was a gravel site. There was enough parking for my 34 ft TT and truck. Neighbors are nearby by not on top of you. The site included: picnic table on gravel, no fire ring. Utilities: 20/50A electric near the middle. The 20A receptacle looked like it had some minor burn marks. Water next to power pole, good pressure. Sewer near power pole with 4 non screw-on fitting.

AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon full bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 30.8 Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 4.5 Mbps down, 11.8 Mbps up. WiFi available, but did not use. Required a login.

Would stay here again. We camped at Land-O-Pines Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

      DON'T FEED THE GATORS

Literally, don't feed the gators. There were signs everywhere. Apparently many people don't heed the signs. When my hubby rustled a bag, several alligators swam right up to our site! Our campsite #101 was right on one of the many lakes in the park. Not much room, but nice enough for looking at the alligators and fishing. No sewer hookup, but electric and water. Dump station was a short drive away. We were in the lower area campsites, which were prone to flash flooding. We actually left a day early due to prediction of rain. The bath house was a short walk away and very clean. Camp hosts actually drove around and checked on guests. There are wonderful hiking, biking, and horse trails. Canoeing and kayaking was a short drive away. Did I mention that there are free mini libraries??

This place is crawling with gators in the lower portion on the lakes. Hey this is south Louisiana. Tubing down the River is a big attraction. Nice park.

      Alot to do

Went on a day pass and there was definitely alot to do. Long hiking trail, fishing, horse trails, frisbee golf, playground, canoe launch. Went on the hiking trail and it was good but somewhat crowded. Didn’t see any animals but had beautiful views.

Peaceful setting with a pool!"
