Lorrain Parish Park Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing, paddling, and wildlife watching draw campers to Lorrain Parish Park Campground, a nine-site county-run park set along Bayou Lacassine in Hayes, Louisiana. The park sits directly on the water, with a boat ramp and dock giving anglers and kayakers immediate access to the bayou. Cypress trees line the banks, and reviewers note the area has good populations of alligators and birds, making it a workable base for anyone focused on outdoor recreation rather than amenities.

The campground is small by design. Nine sites means it fills up, and at least one visitor arrived to find only a single spot remaining. Full water and electric hookups are available, along with a dump station, clean showers, and a designated pet area. Multiple reviewers independently comment on how well-maintained the facilities are, including the bathrooms. Fees have been reported around $12 per night, with reservations available online or by phone through the parish office.

Barb N. sums up the experience concisely: "Bring a fishing pole." The park draws a quiet crowd. No hiking trails are on site, so campers who want more activity beyond the water may want to explore campgrounds near Bell City or nearby options like John Blank Sportsman Park to the northeast. Lorrain Parish Park works best for RV campers and anyone whose trip centers on bayou fishing, paddling, or simply sitting along the water with minimal crowds.

Exactly what I needed

For only $12 you get full hookups at a quiet campground. I felt very safe here. No one bothered me but a few friendly neighbors said hello.

Reservations were made online and there was no one to check in with when I got here. I had a nice quiet evening.

Quiet, clean, delightful

We intended to boondock on Rutherford Beach, but we were wholly unimpressed with the area. Spring burning, hurricane devastation, debris - just not a good time for that area. And when the Cameron Ferry turned us down (said the ferry ramp was too steep for our 21 ft Chinook Concourse - we’d rip apart our rear end when loading), we headed to this campground. Oh, what a find! Adorable, quaint and just bayou lovely. Payment online or by calling the parish office. We lucked into the last available site in this 9-site campground. Sat along the bayou on a lovely deck and had a sweet happy hour. Water/electric hookups, dump station and clean showers. For $12! Score!

Great little hidden gem

Found this place by accident. Its quiet, small and well hidden. The care takers are very helpful. It has clean showers and bathrooms, although they are very utilitarian. It sits right next to the swamp, with a nice boat launch and dock. From what the locals tell me. There is great fishing, plenty of gators, and good hunting.

Lorrain Park, Calcasieu Parish, sw Louisiana

Nice small parish park with bathroom/shower bldg., some campsites, & reasonable fees. All is kept very clean. Not a big tent camping area though. Great location along Bayou Lacassine, with free public access boat ramp. Very scenic area with cypress trees. No hiking trails here, but great for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, birding.
