Walt's Four Seasons Campground & Country Store

    Exceptional family friendly campground!!

In June of 2023, my husband& I decided to move into our 42' toy hauler. We searched& searched within a 30-minute radius of our property that we had bought for a campground with great amenities and where we would feel safe with our 2 babies. Walt's is by far the safest, friendliest, fun-filled campground compared to any of the others we visited around. We were greeted with friendly faces and welcoming staff from our very first day of move-in. They made sure we got settled& hooked up ok and have continued to make us feel right at home. My husband is a truck driver so isn't always home when things go wrong with the camper. The staff has always been there to help when something happens especially when we have had issues with propane leaks, or the heater not working during the colder temps. This campground offers put-put course, swimming pool with poolside pub, horseshoes, catch& release fishing, walking trail, small dog park, playground for children, shower houses/restrooms, laundry facility, on site gas station, a country store with made to order pizzas, sandwiches& tex mex! They do several family friendly events throughout the year. At the country store they have anything of convenience that you may need from toiletries, drinks, snacks, ice cream, games, books, alcoholic beverages, etc. We absolutely love staying here. The sites have been freshly graveled. During the summer the lawn, gardens, pool, etc. Were maintained regularly and they are constantly doing updates weekly here. The best part it is also right off I-70. For long term campers that are truckers they do have a small area for semis. They also have a rentable party room inside the country store as well as outdoor areas for party rentals!

    McPherson State Fishing Lake

    Primitive camping

It's very scenic with plenty of shade. The sites are on the west side of the lake. Sites are pull through. Pit toilets but not close to campsites. Serene and peaceful. FREE. I have 4 bars T-Mobile but no OTA tv reception.

    Old Mill Campground

Great little stopover or weekend getaway

Lindsborg is a super cool little town with a good bit of stuff to do within walking distance of the campsite. Lots of Swedish culture (read up on it). Pool, water park, playgrounds, museum and more are walking distance. But the campground is simple and quiet. Separated from the city by the river, you cross an old highway bridge turned pedestrian bridge to get to the town. Main Street is an easy walk with restaurants, a great coffee shop, art galleries and more. The homes around town are beautiful and it’s just a neat little place to spend a day.

Our family’s haunts are usually far more rustic/remote with boondocking and very small state parks top on the list. But this place makes a great stopover on the way home to ease yourself back into civilization.

Grass parking, 30 amp hookups and no water connections (you may fill tanks at the museum) keep the big boys away. It’s rarely full except on holidays and the Swedish family reunion they host each year. Call the Old Mill Museum for details.

There are toilets, but I don’t think there are showers.

    Salina Campground

    Very Nice But Noisy

This is a nice campground with pull-through spots, playground, nice washroom/showers. Some spots even have concrete patios with fire pits and grills. A few tiny cabins and a “glamping” tent. The only negative is that the sites are very close together and it is right off I-70 which is very noisy all night long.

    Lyons City Campground

    Free camping

This is a free campground with electricity and dump station. There is a time limit of 5 days. Gravel road and gravel back ins. No picnic tables. There are men's and women's restrooms with showers. Not real clean but adequate. I would recommend someone to stay there.

    Salina Campground

Good for a Night Pit Stop

A fairly large, clean RV park with full hookups, and amenities to include a laundry facility, bathrooms, playground, and dog runs. They do ask you to only hook up to water when in use so we just disconnected at bedtime. It's located right off the interstate and the traffic is easily heard so I wouldn't recommend if your sensitive to noise. Check out is a bit early, at 11am. Our only main complaint was our neighbors, we were parked near some full timers with little yapping dogs they left outside to go off anytime a leaf blew all night long. With how attended the park is I would have expected quite time to be enforced.
