Lakeview Campground — Volga River State Recreation Area
About
State Park
Lakeview Campground has modern showers and restrooms and a sanitary dump station. There are no accommodations for equestrian campers in this area, but the sites have electricity and water or are full hook-up (electric, water, sewer).
Volga River State Recreation Area is located in one of the most scenic parts of the state. Northeast Iowa is often referred to as "Little Switzerland" because of its rugged topography, rock outcroppings and forest cover - a sharp contrast to the rolling hills, farmland and scattered stands of timber found in the majority of the state. The heavily wooded, rugged area of Volga River is an exciting setting for a variety of outdoor recreation activities throughout the year.

Nice park
Went there last weekend had to do a walk up everything else was reserved. Clean park area, bathrooms were disgusting though. Talked to the DNR he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of places to walk around and hike. Overall a good place to stay for a few days but not much to do after that
Quiet, secluded
Gravel parking spots, fairly level, most without shade unless you get on the "back loop" where you can find 4 with good shade. All manner of amenities (electric only, water & electric, and a few with full hookups). Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. 4 private showers available...clean. Weekends are typically busier than weekdays.
Decent for an overnight stop in Iowa
Not a bad place but completely unremarkable. You have decent camp spots well spaced and rarely used from what we could tell.
