Central Park Campground operates from mid-April through mid-October within Jones County's Central CountyPark, offering both full hookup and primitive sites with advance reservations available. The county-managed facility provides electric, water, and sewer connections alongside standard amenities including restrooms, showers, and a dump station.

The campground centers around a small lake that supports kayaking, fishing, and swimming at a designated beach area. James M. notes the facility includes "trails, nature center, shelters, restrooms/showers, and lake access for beach, paddling, fishing, etc." Most sites feature picnic tables, while fire pits come equipped with cooking grates. Prairie plantings mix with wooded sections throughout the park, and hiking trails connect to an on-site nature center and museum.

Campers report clean sites and well-maintained facilities. The park occasionally hosts Boy Scout council events, which can affect availability and crowd levels during certain weekends. WiFi service extends across the campground, though cell coverage varies by carrier and location within the park. For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore places to camp around Anamosa about seven miles west.

Book ahead during peak summer months, as lakefront access and full hookups fill quickly on weekends.

Large campgound with great museum

This campground has a beautiful little lake (glad to see it back)  The museum is fun afternoon trip to hike to and visit.  There are a few times when the Boy Scouts take this park over for council events.   A great time for the family to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
