Northwest Ohio farmland surrounds Harrison Lake State Park Campground, where two distinct camping areas serve different preferences. The North Campground spreads larger, more spaced sites across level terrain, while the South Campground packs smaller sites closer together near the lake's edge.
Campers find themselves in an active family environment where children on bikes navigate the campground roads throughout the day. The grounds maintain clean facilities with multiple shower houses, though some feature only curtains rather than doors. Fire rings include pea gravel surrounds to prevent muddy conditions during wet weather, and camp hosts keep sites immediately cleaned between stays. A thin split-rail fence separates outer sites from the adjacent county road, creating an open boundary that some visitors note.
Harrison Lake provides the main recreation draw with its no-wake waters suitable for kayaking and fishing. Rebecca F. notes "Lake life is where it's at, plenty to do on/in the water!" A small swimming beach operates despite warning signs about water conditions, and the park includes a designated dog beach area. Hiking and biking trails circle the lake, though reviewers describe them as a series of connections through woods and developed areas rather than dedicated wilderness paths.
Electric hookups serve most sites, accommodating RVs up to 68 feet, though water hookups remain limited. Sites on the lake side offer water views through strips of woods, while others back up to cornfields. The campground operates year-round with reservations available, and multiple gray water dump stations serve the facility. Road access can present challenges for larger rigs navigating the campground's interior loops.
For different camping experiences, Sauder Village Campground provides a more developed option with additional amenities.
