    Camp out

I loved how neighborly and extremely kind our camping neighbors were. Even though we were close in proximity to eachother, everyone remained respectful of the noise and helped eachother as much as we could. Good little camping trip community. Had a great experience

    Johnny Appleseed Campground

    Great location, but no privacy

The campground is almost in the middle of Fort Wayne. Most of the sites are very close and no vegetation to allow any privacy. On the positive side, the bathrooms were very nice and clean. The staff was also very helpful.

    Harrison Lake State Park Campground

    Nice place close to i90

A lake to cool off in that’s not too far from the south loop sites. Modern toilets and showers. Open space camping on grass with strip of woods between sites and lake. Road on the other side that could use more trees and shrubs to block view and some noise. We prefer more woods like camping and more trails by the campsites so only four stars.

Chain O' Lakes State Park Campground

Very busy/loud, toilets without stall doors

We were in the tent portion and it was very loud, the pit toilets did not have doors, and there were some mosquitoes. It was Memorial Day weekend which could explain the noise/busy-ness. The RV sites have better bathrooms I believe.

What you should know

It's not where I would choose to go if it were just me, but the fun they have for kids is unbeatable. They really make camping a fun experience for little ones," notes a parent. Organized activities: Many campgrounds schedule regular events for children. "Have created a tradition in our family to go to Yogi every year at the end of summer! It's a great place to swim, ride bikes, do crafts, play bingo, and a wide variety of fun activities for the whole family!" shares an enthusiastic visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: RV sites vary significantly across campgrounds. At Happy Acres Campground, "the owners were helpful and went out of their way to help us. The campground looks awesome and makes you feel at home. They are also big rig friendly," notes a recent visitor. Request specific site dimensions when booking.

Electrical considerations: Power reliability varies between campgrounds. At Angola/Hogback Lake KOA, one camper experienced issues: "Power went off and on 5-6 times in an hour. Surge suppressor was normal. No TV, plugs, microwave, etc." Bring surge protectors when camping in this area.

Access challenges: Some campgrounds have limited maneuvering space. At Trading Post Outfitters, a camper noted: "Came in with a 44ft toy hauler had issues getting in. There was room if you're careful but I misunderstood what the guy directing me said and ended up breaking a window. If the park wasn't nearly empty I would've never gotten out."
