      Camp Atterbury Campground

      Outstanding

Mark & Denise are great camp hosts they care about everyone and will help them if they need it. They do so much for the holidays and have some great times together around the campfires. Will miss them this winter but will be thinking of them during the Army Navy game. (A inside joke lol).

Friends O' Mine Campground & Cabins

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our First RV Home Has Been Such a Blessing!

My husband and I absolutely loved our first few months here at Friends O' Mine Campgrounds & Cabins as first-time RV owners with our Class A RV.

We downsized from our 5-bedroom home in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. We sold our home and I followed my Husband back here to Indiana after he received a wonderful career opportunity. My Husband is a Veteran, 🇺🇸 and after moving to Nashville, Indiana, we had immediately fallen in love with this small town - where we respected and admired the way Nashville reminds us of where we had just moved from in Missouri.

We stayed at Grand Wood Suites for six months, after paying for a hotel, all while continuously paying for our two large storage units, as well as our mortgage payment and then rent for most of the beginning of this year; so, we decided to downsize to save money to buy land sooner, instead of continuing to rent. 🏕️ We already loved camping - we started with a pop-up camper on the 🔝 of our Jeep and camped dozens of times, then traded up to a pop-up camper. So we used what we had in savings, bought our Class A RV, donated our pop-up camper, and came to Friends O' Mine - and it was the best decision!

From day one, the other campers have been so friendly, as are the nice employees and amazing owners. They truly make you feel like family. They set up weekly entertainment that brings the whole campground together around the campfire - there is a huge fire in the middle with six porch swings attached to a massive gazebo and veranda surrounding it. It's incredibly cozy and just inviting you to join in.

We've enjoyed live musical singers entertaining us around the campfire all evening, and we were invited to watch a documentary about a local racecar driver in their indoor recreational room, right next to the indoor laundry facilities.

There is also a subterranean pool that my Husband and I enjoyed swimming in almost every day during our first month here - it was very relaxing and refreshing!

One of our favorite parts has been our peaceful, nighttime walks around the large, well-stocked catch-and-release pond. My Husband and I hold hands together and walk around it at sunset almost every evening. It's so serene and calming to hear the sounds of the water and feel the beautiful Autumn breeze.

This has been a very relaxing, enjoyable, and heartwarming experience for us. If you are looking for a clean, friendly, peaceful, and welcoming place to stay - whether for a weekend or for a season - we cannot recommend Friends O' Mine Campgrounds & Cabins enough. We are so grateful we found it!

      Camp Atterbury Campground

Host is great, park is nice, MWR needs help

Great place to stay. Full hook ups, about 90 percent level sites. 33 RV sites and 3 or 4 primitive camp sites. The main bathhouse is pretty clean, included laundry, and a great host and hostess (Mark and Denise). The only bad is the price hikes here. One would think MWR would throw money towards some things...like a dog park, some leveling, lights at the kids playground, and MWR sponsored and paid for holiday parties/outings for vets, retirees, and all the active here on base. But nope, just collecting revenue without any beanies. Anyway, the host keeps it grounded.

      Browning Camp

      Peaceful and Beautiful

Tent camping is great, and there are lots of camper lots that are big rig friendly, with all of the hookups. Shower house and restroom are very clean. They have a laundry mat as well. Staff is super friendly and very helpful.

      Scottsburg/Raintree Lake KOA

      Nice overall campground

We happened across this place and couldn’t have found a more friendly place to camp. Owner introduce himself right away and told us all about the area and history of campground. Pool wasn’t open yet but nice safe place to camp.

      Charlestown State Park Campground

      Nice weekend getaway

The campground here has been very nice. Coming into the campground there are two areas of road that have been torn out and need repaired, but nothing you couldn't get over, just slow down. Otherwise, nice campsites, plenty of space, well maintained, water and showers already on at comfort station. Tons of kids with large play park. We liked that the park had small walk trails within the campground with direct routes to the comfort station, and lights at the start of the path to identify it. All around, great experience, will be back again.

      Camp Atterbury Campground

      Camp Atterbury Fam Camp

Level sites, electric and sewer at each site, clean facilities, camp ground clean. Was quite less the muffled sounds of the gun range for reserve troops training/qualifying. Mark the host was very helpful and inviting. Free laundry facilities. There is no WiFi, cell coverage was good. I used a Starlink and worked great. This RV park is on base and you need verified access. Overall it’s a nice place for the price (stayed 5 days).

      Follow The River RV Resort

Don't ask for a refund if you can't park there!

The manager at this RV park assaulted me and snatched my iPhone out of my hand! Are you kidding me?? The video was edited(shortened) because these review sites won't allow anything more than 30 seconds. BUT what was said by both of us beforehand and afterwards doesn't matter. The fact is she's supposed to be the professional and she not only called me a"d*ck" and an"a**hole", but she proceeded to violently take my phone out of my hand and refused to give it back. I ultimately talked her into giving it back but WHO DOES THIS? She later actually punched me in the face. Yeah! Right in the face. But unfortunately, the video started and when she got on me, I guess I accidentally hit the stop button I was so scared. What was I scared of? Because, in the professions I've had, you learn that people are capable of anything. I didn't know if she was armed. I know I wasn't. I called 911 and am going to pursue the prosecution of her for assaulting a person over 60 yrs old, which is a felony. These types of animals do not need to be on our streets much less managing a nice RV park. This all came about because the sewer pipe on my motorhome is only 5" off the ground when parked. The lot she gave me has a sewer inlet pipe that sits over a foot off the ground meaning the feces would have to flow uphill to work. When I pointed this out, this manager said,"that's your problem, you'll have to figure it out". When I asked for a refund, she said no way and started in on my calling me vulger names(she did this several times). What professional person dealing with the public does this? She also refused to move me to another site saying she doesn't have any, but anyone can look around and see the park is not even half full- so, that's a lie. Annndddd, there's more! But I'll be posting every day on this site(and many others), so I’ll address more tomorrow and in the coming days and weeks.

      Scottsburg/Raintree Lake KOA

      Great Campground

Quick two night stay for us but although our first time here was short we will certainly be back. Campground is clean and very well maintained. Owners are very involved and run things very thoughtfully.

They were able to accommodate our 44ft 5th wheel and navigating to the site was simple. Can’t wait to come back and visit.

    Guide to North Vernon

Situated along the Muscatatuck River, camping near North Vernon, Indiana offers visitors dense forested landscapes within the gently rolling hills of southern Indiana. The area sits at elevations between 630-850 feet, creating varying landscapes of wooded ridges, small valleys, and water features. Most campgrounds remain open April through October, with some sites available year-round despite average winter temperatures regularly dropping below freezing.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Jackson Washington State Forest features challenging hiking trails with significant elevation changes throughout its 16,500-acre property. "The property offers several stunning hiking trails and some are of the more challenging nature due to the elevation changes," notes one visitor about this heavily wooded area just 30 minutes from North Vernon.

Quarry swimming: Hidden Paradise Campground provides unique aquatic recreation with its on-site quarry lake featuring inflatable play structures. "A quarry full to swim with an aqua playground, with use of free life preservers. a creek to kayak or float and a clean campground! Life is good," reported one camper who visited with family.

Kayaking: Local waterways offer multiple paddling opportunities for visitors seeking water recreation. "We brought our canoe and a kayak, and enjoyed fishing the lake for small mouth bass, crappie, and cat fish. It was very nice to camp right on the water," shared a visitor to Starve Hollow State Rec Area Campground.

Archery: Some campgrounds maintain specialty facilities for target sports. "The archery range is great. We have been going here for a few years and it's never disappointing," mentioned a visitor to Jackson Washington State Forest, which maintains dedicated archery facilities for campers.

    What campers like

Lakefront sites: Many campers appreciate direct water access from their campsites. "We stayed in site 21 which was right on the lake. All the lake front spots seem to have a good amount lakefront footage. We probably had at least 40 feet," reported one visitor about Starve Hollow State Rec Area.

Wooded privacy: Delaney Creek Park offers secluded camping experiences in densely wooded surroundings. "Down in the hills and hollers, is this beautiful campground and park. This place is beautiful and breathtaking. Very clean and super friendly staff," noted a camper who enjoyed the remote setting.

Moorage options: Boaters can keep their watercraft at some campsites overnight. "The Wooster Bay primitive area allows campers to moor their boats overnight. It has a very relaxed atmosphere," explained a camper at Wooster Campground — Hardy Lake State Recreation Area who appreciated this convenience.

Level sites: Campers often mention the importance of good site preparation. "Sites for RVs are concrete and you will need to level some on all of them. They have electric and water. Reasonable prices," explained one visitor at Delaney Creek Park regarding the campsite conditions.

    What you should know

Site preferences: Some campgrounds offer varying site quality and positions. "Take bug spray in the summer! Swimming beach and boat ramp/kayak rental available," advises a camper from Starve Hollow who noted the seasonal insect situation that campers should prepare for.

Rental availability: eXplore Brown County offers alternative glamping in North Vernon area with unique accommodations. "Great prices on cabins and campers. Covered with trees with great spots near the creek," mentioned a visitor who appreciated the unconventional glamping options.

Motorized restrictions: Certain lakes limit boat motor types to preserve water quality. "Starve-Hollow Lake is a trolling motor only lake. For campers a fish cleaning station is available," noted a camper about the boating regulations designed to maintain the natural environment.

Access challenges: Some campgrounds have challenging entry roads. "We noticed at daylight. Nice playground, appears they have some cabins to be rented, some sites were on the water, very clean and maintained," explained a visitor to Hidden Paradise Campground who arrived after dark and struggled with navigation.

    Tips for camping with families

Multiple playgrounds: Starve Hollow offers extensive recreation areas for children. "Great getaway for the family. We love this place and camp here 5+ times a year. It's clean and so much to do with kids," shared a repeat visitor who makes this campground their regular family destination.

Cabin options: Families seeking glamping near North Vernon have multiple options for cabin stays. "We stayed in the cabins for a couple days. There is always so much to do, one day hiking the next we were shopping," explained a visitor to Brown County-Nashville KOA about their family experience.

Annual traditions: Many families return yearly for consistent experiences. "We love this campground so much that we return every year! Great riverside sites. We take our own rafts and kayaks, although both are available for rent/purchase at the camp store," shared a repeat visitor to Hidden Paradise about their family tradition.

Adventure activities: Several locations offer structured activities beyond traditional camping. "This would be a rad place to take your kids/teens or if you're into more of a festival camping atmosphere (sites are spaced out though, you're not on top of each other) this would be the perfect place," noted a camper at eXplore Brown County about the suitable environment for active families.

    Tips from RVers

Extension cords needed: Campsite utilities aren't always conveniently positioned. "The electric and water hookups are not in standard locations for RV hookups. Make sure you bring an extension for your electric hookup, otherwise you might not be able to reach the post," advised an RVer at Delaney Creek Park.

Site leveling requirements: Prepare for uneven terrain at some locations. "Pads are gravel and we did need to use several leveling blocks on our site, which made for a doosey of a bottom step into and out of our trailer," explained an RV camper at Brown County-Nashville KOA.

Big rig accessibility: Some campgrounds accommodate larger RVs better than others. "Pull through sites are spacious. Trees are young, across the road from Brown County national forest so hiking galore," observed an RVer describing the Nashville KOA's accommodations for larger vehicles.

Electrical capacity: Check power ratings before booking for larger RVs. "They have full hook-up sites and electric. Regular electric sites on the water are beautiful but not sure we could park our 41 ft fifth wheel on a water site," noted an RVer at Starve Hollow about site limitations.
