Miles Landing Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Miles Landing Campground sits on reclaimed strip mine land outside Elberfield, Indiana, where a network of ponds and young trees now defines the landscape. The campground reopened relatively recently after significant renovation work by the owner, and it accepts both drive-in and boat-in arrivals. GPS directions have caused some confusion for first-time visitors, as mapping apps sometimes route travelers toward a bridge that no longer applies. The campground is reachable by road directly, roughly three miles from the interstate.

Every site includes full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections, and the mix of treed and open sites means campers can choose between shade and sun depending on their preference. Pull-through sites accommodate larger rigs. Several long-term residents live on-site, though multiple reviewers note the grounds stay clean and the atmosphere is friendly. Fishing is accessible close to the campsites, and the surrounding reclamation ponds add to that draw for anglers. Ticks are present in the area, a practical consideration for anyone camping with dogs.

The management here has shown some initiative beyond standard operations. For the 2024 solar eclipse weekend, Raina H. noted that "management provided viewing glasses and arranged for a food truck." Bathrooms and shower facilities have drawn consistent praise across reviews, with one visitor calling them among the cleanest seen at any campground. Cell signal and wifi are reported to be reliable. Miles Landing tends to work best for RV campers wanting full hookups in a low-key, rural setting, with fishing access and campgrounds near Chandler rounding out options in the broader region.

Perfect location to view the Solar Eclipse

We stayed at Miles Landing the weekend leading up to the Solar Eclipse in April 2024. Everyone was pleasant. Managment provided viewing glasses and arranged for a food truck.

Very quiet, very clean

We recently stayed here for the Labor Day weekend. It was a smaller camp ground but that made it very quiet. The sites were very spacious and far enough apart that you had room to spread out. The bathrooms were probably the cleanest, nicest shower houses I’ve seen at a campground.

Great woodland Setting

I used to live near here before the strip mine went through. The camp is in the middle of a large reclamation. Lots of ponds and young trees. Great modern sites mostly dispersed.

Newer campground

The owner just reopened this campground 2 years ago, put a lot of work into it. Overall great place, roughly 3 miles off the interstate. GPS states there is a bridge to the campground, but not true. Can drive directly to it. Lovely area with fishing not far from the campsite. Full hookups on every site, have in trees half in direct sun. Lots of full time residents, but very clean and very friendly. Will fit any size rig, or tents. Great wifi and cell signal. We didn’t put up fish network. Simple campground with wood for sale only. Lots and lots of ticks, beware if you have pups.
