Best Cabin Camping near Mount Carmel, IL

Very nice state park campground with electric, (50 on some, 30 on some), and water hookups. Two clean shower houses. Two dump stations. Lake for swimming, fishing, canoe, paddle boat and Jon boat rentals. Hiking trails and fire tower. Typical camp store on site. Gas station with propane about a mile from the camp ground. Has primitive sites and cabin rentals also. The park has a large outdoor covered amphitheater with several concerts throughout the season. Most sites are pretty level. There are a few that are not. The majority of the sites have at least partial shade. Weekends are usually booked up in advance. Through the week is no problem getting your choice of sites. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is adjacent to the State park. It has a living farm. Both are free. Admission to the state park is $7.00 per vehicle or a Indiana State Park annual pass for $50.00 gets you into any Indiana state park anytime for the year. Peaceful, family friendly-playgrounds, pool, hiking trails, picnic areas, large camp sites. Cabins available. Electric hookup at trailer sites.

 Lincoln State Park in Southern Indiana. About as far South as you can go! (In Indiana!). We did a weekend visit.

  150 electric sites. There's 30 & 50 Amp sites with water at each site!

6 handicap sites. There are NO pull through sites. 

 The best sites are by Lake Lincoln- 40 & 41. 39 is ok, but all 3 of these sites are in the sun most of the day. Also, 40 & 41 are not ON the lake. Trail 1 & a wide grassy area are before the water. The only advantage IMO is an unobstructed view of the water & a short walk to the lake. 

The sites seemed short, but people were able to park very large rigs in them. Check the site dimensions before booking or call the office to make sure you'll fit. 

  There's a large primitive campground. They have a modern bath house with showers. Some cabins.

  There's 2 bath houses in the electric side with flush toilets & showers. Very clean for a state park! 

  A double dump station. 

6 trails from easy to moderate. The longest is 3.7 miles. 

  Boating & fishing are popular, but electric motor only. There's boat rental. 

  There's a beach, but closed after Labor Day. The camp store is in the pavilion by the beach & has limited hours after Labor Day. 

  There's a small nature center. 

 Lots of history in the park & in the area. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is directly across the road from the state park

 . Santa Claus Indiana& Holiday World are nearby.

Lincoln State Park is right down the road from Santa Claus , Indiana and Holiday World. Needless to say it was a little busy, but not as bad as the Rudolph RV Park in town.

The RV/camping area was well laid out and the sites were nestled in quite close to one another. That being said it was a smaller campground and surrounded by trees and lake on two sides,roadway on the other.

Probably the main thing I didn't like about it. The day use area was a fence row away. Which while convienant to walk to, sorta cut down on the whole camping in the woods privacy thing.

Direct access to the trail system/lake boardwalk and the cabin area was co-located on the same trail. The trail was sort of well marked, though there were a few trails leading off with no markers.

The beach, boat rental and general use area was well maintained and had some cool old buildings in use. There is an amphitheater that has a good venue of events.

The general use pit toilet was fragrant, old and in need of a good cleaning. There were newer facilities but seeing as it was right in the middle of the area you would think a little sprucing up would be in order.

Very nice lake! CLEAR water, a lot of water activities going on.

Directly across from the park is another park area with historical stuff if you like that kind of stuff.

Scales Lake is a wonderful campground. It has primitive, cabIns, and RV camping. The camp has so much to do for kids and adults. Hiking, mountain bike trails along wIth pump track for kIds, a small petting zoo, and a beautiful lake front for swimming with water slide and diving boards. There is a boat ramp for fishing boats and kayaks. My husband and I live about ten miles away and we love staying at the campground. we always feel we are off on an adventure when we stay. The people are friendly and bathrooms are clean.

This park is small with clean campsites. Water hookup at every camp site. Playground, beach, hiking and boat rental are within a minute walk of your campsite.

Probably one of the smallest campsites I've been to and it's never been crowded when we went which is nice for our family. There are some very nice hiking trails and a great museum and nature center. We live right across the Ohio in Evansville thus this is our go to park for a last minute getaway where we don't have to worry about making reservations months in advance to get a decent spot.

We are staying for a week and so far place is awesome you are definitely in the middle of no where for such a well built park. They have excellent wifi service and gas station close by for different things. If you want your kids to have fun this is a must

We stayed here on the way to and on the way home from The Kentucky Bourbon Trail. It is a fairly new KOA with so many enjoyable amenities, family fun, food, ice cream, mini golf, full hookups and shady spots if you ask for one. We want to go back and stay at a patio lot with a swing. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nearby services, fuel, farm store, etc.

Great walking woods. but the restaurant is awesome. plenty of fish in the lake.

There are no RV hook ups but it's a great place for a stop over for a picnic. It has a beautiful lake you can fish or just sit back and let the kids play.

We absolutely love this state park. We have three medium size dogs that go with us we have plenty of space at our campsite that is big enough for them. The campsites are clean with electric hook ups. Water is near by to fill up. It is quite place. Beautiful views. Lake is near by to fish. If you have kids they have play ground to play on. Host are very nice and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful lake with good fishing. Spots are a little unleveled but not bad. Nice restaurant, a little pricey but good food.

We were there in November for just a night. At first I thought the sites were a bit rough and not very level. But while were there, they started to regrade the pads at the sites. The new gravel was leveled and packed flat. The sites are greatly improved.

Cell service was very good, Verizon, and very quiet. Most sites are 30 amp but the Lake view loop are 50 amp. There are a few sites that will handle large rigs but most are for medium sized rigs.

Just got here but very pleased so far. Nice fresh gravel sites. Lots of trails it seems. Lake is nice sized but not too big. Wish the restaurant was open, but told it may be next Spring. A little issue with the electric @ 1st but maintenance was out right away & got everything up & running. Easy entrance off IL-50. All roads in newly paved. Campground Host (Russ) very attentive and helpful. Water pressure at the Dump site is a little low, but not bad. AT&T reception is GREAT — 4 bars LTE @ the campsite; great for streaming later. For now, off for a quick canoe ride to check out the lake

Nice clean park plenty of trees ..will need to fill up with fresh water at park .. we camped at lot 85 $20 a night $30 Friday- Sunday .. pier for fish .. didn't catch much .. Several small towns around for food and supplies ..the park restaurant wasn't open when we were there but I heard it was opening soon ..boats and kyacks welcome ..we took our dog too .. it gets a 4 stars for no wifi and slow fishing otherwise great place for a camper stay! Off rt #50

It’s a really nice park with great trails just wish the primitive camping would have been open I’m sure $20 for a rv site is a good price but it’s a little high for a tent camper like me
