    Country Bend Campground

    Great family friendly campground

Great place to stay and feel part of the community.  Pretty scenery to walk around.  Plenty of lakes/ponds to fish.  We couldn't boat while there due to COVID but look forward to going back and taking our kayaks.  Attentive and Friendly camp hosts. Pet friendly. Close to town if you've forgotten anything or want to have a restaurant dinner. Close to the highway for easy access.  Full hookup available. Monthly or Season also available.

    Clean, Secure Overnight Park

Very clean and secure overnight park just outside of STL. Phenomenal views of downtown and the arch, and fairly easy access to I-55/64/70. Facilities lacked some amenities (only vending machines, convenience store has shut down), but clean, paved, level sites with full hookups throughout.

    Country Bend Campground

    Great experience!

Big things happening at Country Bend Campgrounds in Montrgromy Co, IL. This beautiful campground has many things to offer and is only a few minutes from the local drive in movie theater in Litchfield Illinois. It has a pool, swing sets, playground, cabins, ponds with stocked fish, beautiful walking trails, camping, welcome center, baseball field, volleyball, games, horseshoes, paddle boats, miniature golf, and so much more. This family run business is under new management and is welcoming new seasonal campers and day campers with competitive pricing. Come check out this amazing campground and all it has to offer! Our rough collies will be joining us at this dog friendly campground! There is always something to do here and the owners strive to make it a family place by providing many activities on the weekends. The owners have done an amazing job on this campground and have made it one of the best campgrounds around to create that lasting experience with our children before they grow up!!!

COE Rend Lake North Sandusky Recreation Area

    Great fishing camp

North Sandusky Campground has 60 reservable campsites. All campsites have electric hookups, 16 campsites are full-hookup., 30 & 50 amp. There is a dump station, hot showers and flush toilets. Most sites are fairly level, but some have an incline to get into. Sites have water and sewer, and a picnic table. Sites are close to the water so you can fish or boat right from your campsite. There is a boat dock, boat ramp, playground, and disk golf course.

    Rend Lake Gun Creek Campground

Many lakeside sites, extra long drives for boat trailers, quiet and scenic

Rend Lake is a large COE recreation area with 4 campgrounds, some with full hook ups for $28 a night, two dams, 2 beaches, several boat launches, a marina, golf course and a restaurant.  Not all facilities were open when we visited in March.  Hiking and biking trails and close to town for gas and bait.  Each site has a stone picnic table and fire ring.  Showers, bathrooms and  playgrounds in multiple places and convenient locations.  Some sites do have steep grade, originally booked Bluejay 48 and moved.

    Country Bend Campground

    GO ELSEWHERE

Our motorhome is a big rig a 42 foot diesel pusher.. They squeezed site was 7 ft wide with little gravel mostly wet grass and mud.Our 40000 lb RV was 8 1/2"ft wide. We were put in a spot by Country Bend Campground not large enough for our vehicle. Not much gravel all mud. Due to a huge tree no satellite service yet the owners stated was good for our 42 ft diesel pusher motorhome and no obstacles. We were sandwiched between two living full time people right next to us. We waited 3 hours to come in since they charge$5 an hour extra for early arrival. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!$$$$ is their goal. They want you to rent their golf carts because everything is so spread out. We have been full timing for two years. This is the worst experience we ever had. No water hookup. We called Kate Tuxhorn the owner and she said sorry i forgot to tell you that you have to tap in your neighbors water. Her husband Jeff Tuxhorn has many bad reviews too.Leaving we hit that huge tree that we had no way to turn. Thousands of$ damage.

    Coles Creek Recreation Area

    Nice lake, quiet campground

Coles Creek Campground on Carlyle Lake has 219 sites, most with full hookups, and shade. (There is 30 & 50 a as no service). Internet is spotty. There are also 2 group campsites with cabins. There are showers, flush toilet, a playground, fish cleaning station, boat ramp and a dump station. There is also a laundry area. All the campsites are either on the shoreline or a short walk to the lake. The whole campground is fairly flat, so the sites are level and easy to get into. There are a few pull through sites. Comes Creek is on the east side of Carlyle Lake, away from the larger, more crowded Hazlet State Park area. It’s a great place for fishing and boating or just enjoying the lake. The lake is a prime fishing and boating lake, and is recognized as one of the nation's top ten inland sailing lakes.

Guide to Keyesport

Carlyle Lake defines the camping experience near Keyesport, Illinois, with 26,000 acres of water surface and 11,000 acres of public land surrounding it. The lake reaches depths of 35 feet at its deepest points, creating varied fishing conditions throughout the year. Most camping areas sit at elevations between 450-500 feet above sea level, resulting in moderate temperature variations between day and night.

What to do

Beach access: Coles Creek Recreation Area offers a dedicated beach for campers that's separate from public swimming areas. "There is a beach for campers to use, and a really nice playground. Their bathrooms and showerhouse were impeccably clean, and many sites are right next to the lake," notes a visitor to Coles Creek Recreation Area.

Fishing opportunities: The lake is known for crappie, bass, and catfish fishing, with shore fishing possible at most campgrounds. "Big sites. Been coming here since the trees were just saplings. For us it is a little farther drive but a pretty campground," reports a regular visitor who enjoys fishing at Coles Creek.

Helicopter tours: Unusual for camping areas, some rv sites near Keyesport, Illinois are located near aviation facilities. "We stopped here for a night. There is a restaurant near but it was closed. Mostly long term occupants with about 5 sites for travelers. It is on airport property and there is a helicopter service there," mentions a visitor to Percival Springs RV Campground.

What campers like

Late check-in options: For travelers arriving after office hours, several campgrounds accommodate late arrivals. "We called a day in advance and was able to schedule a reservation, the lady on the phone was very nice. Upon arrival I was greeted nicely and checked in quickly," shares a camper at Archway RV Park.

Dog-friendly amenities: Several camping areas near Keyesport provide designated pet areas. "Nice doggie park area fenced off too!!" reports an Archway RV Park visitor. Another camper at Kamper Kompanion RV Park states: "Quiet, family friendly, and great for our dogs. We love the dog yard!"

Secure camping environments: Many campgrounds provide security features for peace of mind. "Very clean and secure overnight park just outside of STL. Phenomenal views of downtown and the arch, and fairly easy access to I-55/64/70," mentions a visitor about Casino Queen RV Park.

What you should know

Tent camping limitations: Most facilities primarily serve RVs with limited tent options. "There are only about 6 tent sites at this campground, which makes it not entirely friendly for tent campers. However, the bathrooms were lovely and clean," reports a visitor to Cedarbrook RV Park and Campground.

Varied site conditions: Surface materials differ across campgrounds in the region. "Long spots, friendly owner, easy access to hardware store across the street, coin laundry available. Downsides is wifi is poor, gravel is unlevel, limited menu on DoorDash," notes a camper at Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park.

Train noise: Several camping options near Keyesport are affected by railroad traffic. "There are trains every 15-30 minutes all day long," mentions a Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park visitor, though they add that "Casino has a metro stop that takes you into St Louis over the river."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature playground equipment for children. "The outside area is made for families to play and relax and enjoy time together, and the indoor spaces are cozy and designed for the comfort of the guests," reports a visitor to Archway RV Park.

Bike-friendly roads: The campground layout at some locations makes for good cycling opportunities. "Great campground for taking long walks and bike rides," notes a regular visitor to Coles Creek Recreation Area.

Swimming options: Beyond pools, natural swimming areas exist at certain campgrounds. "This wonderful camping area is beautiful with clean campsites. With picnic areas and a beach close you and the family will have a good time and make new friends," shares a Coles Creek visitor.

Tips from RVers

Electric hookup variations: RV sites near Keyesport, Illinois have different electric service configurations. "Full-hookups with only a 50amp connection so if you are using 30 make sure you have a 50/30 adapter," advises an Archway RV Park camper.

Pull-through availability: Easy access sites reduce setup time for larger rigs. "Easy pull thru site with 40' and toad. basically a big open flat field with sites and building spread throughout," mentions a Kamper Kompanion visitor.

Utilities placement: The location of hookups varies between campgrounds and can require planning. "Utilities are set up weird on all sites - Water and electric are at the very rear of the site by the sewer, so you will need a decent sized hose to reach if your water intake is in the front of your camper," notes a Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park camper.
