    Bonner County Fairgrounds

Five-Star Review for Bonner County Fairground Campground

My recent stay at the campground at Bonner County Fairground in Pondray, ID was absolutely phenomenal!

We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish and we can't recommend this campground enough. First and foremost, the campground is incredibly well-maintained and clean. The facilities are top-notch and it's evident that the staff takes great pride in keeping everything in excellent condition.

The campground itself is spacious and well-designed, offering plenty of room for RVs and other camping setups. They do not allow tents at this park. The campsites were level and provided ample space for my RV, as well as a picnic table. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the campground, with beautiful views of the surrounding nature. What truly sets this campground apart is its convenient location. Being situated at the Bonner County Fairground, we had the opportunity to explore the fairgrounds and attend any events or activities that happened to be taking place during our stay.

Moreover, the campground is ideally situated to explore the breathtaking natural beauty of Pondray and the surrounding area. I took full advantage of the numerous hiking and biking trails nearby, immersing myself in the stunning landscapes and fresh mountain air. The picturesque scenery and abundant wildlife made every outdoor adventure truly unforgettable.

Another aspect that impressed me was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

They were always available to answer any questions, provide recommendations for local attractions and dining options, and ensure that my stay was as enjoyable as possible. In terms of amenities, the campground had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The electrical hookups were reliable, and the availability of potable water and dump stations made it easy to manage my RV's needs.

Lastly, I must mention the incredible local attractions in the Pondray area. From the nearby Lake Pend Oreille, perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming, to the charming town with its unique shops and restaurants, there was always something exciting to explore. We also had the opportunity to visit nearby national forests and parks, immersing myself in nature and taking in the breathtaking vistas.

    Riley Creek Campground

    Pleasant Surprise

We were looking for a campsite in the Idaho Panhandle and discovered Riley Creek. After a 10 hour drive we arrived, drove to our spot and was greeted by an attendant who happened to be in the area. They volunteered to help us spot our rig, we were fine. No help needed.

This was an indication of how this trip would be. Very enjoyable! Power and water close. Level gravel pad, plenty of shade. Walking and biking trails galore. River was peaceful, large grass area, large playground for kids. Fairly full of couples and families surprisingly quiet.

Close to town for any supplies you might need.
    We plan on returning.

    North Haven Campground

    Awesome facility

Modern and beautiful campground. Close to all the wonders of Idaho's panhandle. They have several back in and pull through sites with more on the way. Choice of full hookups, or water and electric. Their showers are emaculant and luxurious. Wife refused to use ours. They have luxury cabins and covered wagon glamping. Very family and senior friendly. Reasonably priced, can't loose booking here.

    Riley Creek Campground

Great campground on Lake Pend Oreille

Hello Dyrt campers! Today I check out a great little campground/recreation area on Lake Pend Oreille( locally pronounced Pond Array"). The campground portion has 67 sites that have electrical and water hookups with centrally located flush bathrooms. Each site is spacious and somewhat secluded. They also have a fire ring and picnic table with wood available for purchase at the store/station up front. I did not see any ADA marked sites, but as developed as the campground is I imagine most all of the sites to be fairly accessible. I did see ADA bathrooms and showers.

Other facilities/amenities here included an extensive day use recreation area located next to the camping section. There were beaches amid the many picnic benches and shelters. Large grass fields were adjacent to a nice set of swings and play structures. A nice boat ramp was located at the end of the park area next to a swim beach and a small fishing pier. This park is camper friendly with overnight options and a dump station.

Over all I loved this campground as it somehow gave you the feeling of a small campground yet offering a lot of facilities/amenities. At less than $30 a night, I highly recommend other Dyrt users check it out.

    Dunn Creek Flats Campground

Peaceful Riverside Camping (if you don't count been awoken by Bald Eagles)

We stayed here off season, we pulled our trailer through a pull through site on the edge of the river. You could walk down to the river and fish in the river, but it wasn't really a place for people or pets to play. The sites are primitive with fire rings but no power or water hookups.

The campground is pretty small, has big trash bins to avoid bears, but it didn't look like it was a problem when we were there.

There are roads on both sides of the river, one being the highway, but the river helps drown out some of the road noise. The mountains are tall on either side of the river valley and so the sun goes down a little sooner than expected, but the views from camp are nice. There is a big open area in the center of the playground for people and pets to run around.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Round Lake State Park Campground

    1st solo RV camping trip

Beautiful & clean campground with friendly staff. Quiet area and not over crowded. Pet friendly. Lots of trail hiking and a pretty lake for kayaking, swimming, etc. My only complaint was not enough grassy areas and all campgrounds were just dirt. So keeping RV clean was difficult with myself and dogs going in and out despite having mats to wipe off feet/shoes.

    RV camping

Pros: Fairly nice RV campground Right off the highway just a couple miles from town. Super clean and private bathroom/ shower. Friendly staff, level sites, easy access. CONS: Some highway noise along the road. Nice park but nothing to do (hiking, swimming etc) within walking distance

    Sam Owen Camnpground

Convenient, lots of amenities, a bit crowded.

Stayed here for a few days back in June. Since I've been lucky enough to be able to work remotely, I just needed to find a campsite that had cell reception so I could tether my laptop, and this one does (at least on Verizon).

It has a lot more to offer too though, as the lakeside location is pretty great. You can rent paddle boards and head out onto the water. Apparently this is one of the deepest lakes in the country. A local couple that gave us a ride on their boat told us they test submarines in this lake, or at least used to. I love random bits of interesting info like that.

All the standard amenities here, and then some. Restaurant / bar within walking distance.

The only thing that got to be a bit much is how crowded it was. Yes, the campground is large (four different loops in total, if I remember correctly) but still, felt like a zoo sometimes.

Still, if you're looking for easy, don't mind paying and ideally making reservations ahead of time, and can sacrifice some privacy, this will do you very well.
