It is one of the largest and deepest natural lakes in the western United States with depths plunging more than 1,200 ft., in some areas. The area around the Lake is the traditional home of the Kalispell Indians. French settlers named the area "Pend Oreille," which means "ear pendant," after observing the large shell earrings worn by the Kalispell people.

Beautiful Campground
Stunning sunsets over the Pend Oreille River, quiet, level sites, and clean facilities at Springy Point. We had a great time!
Pretty Good
Great site if you are in a traditional tent. Once I arrived with a RTT they said I wasn’t allowed, but I could take my chances of being kicked out by the ranger. Dumb rule since my parking spot was the same as all other sites. Ranger came by at 10 pm and didn’t say anything.
do NOT recommend!!!!
Very pretty campsite but extremely rude camp hosts! There was one guy that was kind but the others were really rude and were constantly harassing us! The second we got up there they came to our campsite while we were setting up our tents to discuss the rules. That is completely fine and understandable, however, as soon as we finished setting up our tents they came and told us that we needed to move our tents to spread them out more? We were a tad confused but we agreed and shrugged it off our shoulders. Later we decided we wanted to ride our bikes. We started to ride our bikes when the camp host came running to ask if our bike was licensed. We said it wasn’t licensed because it couldn’t be in Idaho and she said since it isn’t licensed and it is a“federal highway” that we can’t proceed to ride our bikes. Once again we shrugged it off our shoulders and tried to make the most of it. Then a few of us decided to go down to the beach that is called“swim beach” with a big sign that says“no swimming allowed”. We decided since we couldn’t swim that we were going to sit down and enjoy the view. We were minding our own business and before you know it the camp hosts tracked us down all the way to the beach and said we needed to be more responsible with our campfire. We explained someone was there watching the campfire but they said that because our person that was watching the campfire was unresponsive to them calling out that they aren’t clearly responsible enough to watch over the campfire. At this point we start to get upset but kindly agree and go back to the campsite to watch our fire. Once again, not even an hour later, someone comes up to us and asks us to keep it down(this is around 3 pm) and to respect others. We couldn’t catch a break! Then for the rest of the day we had a sheriff constantly circling our camp site. The frustrating part is we didn’t even do anything wrong, we followed the rules that were discussed with us from the beginning and yet we were constantly harassed. Would NOT recommend this campsite!!!
Great
Lovely campground, close by Sandpoint, nice hosts, late checkout (2pm), hot showers.
Be on time, gate closes between 10pm and 7am
Great Campground - Some Sites Small
We enjoyed this campground overall, but would definitely recommend checking sites in person if possible to get one of the larger ones. Our site was very cramped with a small area in which to pitch tents. We were also very close to the neighboring camp site which ended up be great because they were friendly and our kids all played together, but overall I prefer more space between camp sites. We took a walk around and found there were several larger sites that would be great but there were just as many very small camp sites. I made a list for next time so I could get a better site!
The dish washing station with large stainless steel sinks was excellent and the bathrooms were clean and had flushing toilets. We did not use the coin-op showers but they looked clean and were reasonably priced.
The lake was beautiful and the campground was nice and shady. Camp hosts brought our two girls activity bags and came by to clean our camp site out before we set up.
Springy point
Nice campground on the Pend Oreille river. Beach and large dock. Shady with lots of trees. Camp hosts were helpful. Showers were clean as was the campground. Animals allowed on leash. No hook ups at campsite but water and dump available.
Great family place
Off the beaten path, in a quiet area. Not to far from town, yet far enough away to not worry about the traffic. Flush facilities, wash station, nice private beach on Pend Orielle.
Great place to camp
This is a first come first serve campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It has a beautiful swimming area.
