Bonner County Fairgrounds

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Lake Pend Oreille draws anglers, paddlers, and swimmers to the Sandpoint area, and Bonner County Fairgrounds sits close enough to the water to make it a practical base for those activities. The campground has 33 paved, back-in sites, each with water and electric hookups. Sites run on the smaller side and are spaced close together, so larger rigs should check site length carefully before reserving through Reserve America. One reviewer notes that site 21 filled up completely with a 34-foot trailer.

Shade varies across the property. Several sites sit under tree cover, while others are more open, described by one visitor as "grass and a few trees, but otherwise wide open." Train tracks run nearby, and multiple campers mention hearing horn blasts at a crossing, more noticeable in the morning and evening than overnight. Tents are not permitted on the grass. Water connections are shared at some sites, so bringing a long hose is worth considering.

Facilities include a block bathhouse with showers and restrooms, a central picnic pavilion, and a dump station near the exit. Cleanliness comes up repeatedly in reviews as a consistent strength. The fairgrounds location means events occasionally take place on the property during a stay, which can add activity or crowd depending on timing. Campers exploring the region can find campgrounds near Ponderay and compare options before committing. The campground operates year-round and fits RV travelers who want hookups, proximity to Sandpoint's trails and waterfront, and a straightforward overnight setup.

Many campers appreciated the clean facilities, reliable hookups, and excellent $25 nightly rate. Some feedback indicated concerns about close site spacing and occasional train noise, but most found the peaceful setting and convenient Sandpoint location appealing.

Quiet without the train

Train honks at a crossing. Didn’t notice it at night as much as morning and evening. Nice spots. Shared water needs a long hose. No tents on grass.

Good tent spot.

I was motorcycle tent camping. Nice spot. Only drawback would be there are train tracks and siding within hearing distance. Good bathrooms and free showers.

Great little campground

Pros: nicely forested providing shade to many sites, inexpensive, tons of space to walk dogs, water and electric at sites, dump and water station easy to navigate. Conveniently located with a short drive into Sandpoint and all there is to do there. Cons: sites are small

Five-Star Review for Bonner County Fairground Campground

My recent stay at the campground at Bonner County Fairground in Pondray, ID was absolutely phenomenal!

We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish and we can't recommend this campground enough. First and foremost, the campground is incredibly well-maintained and clean. The facilities are top-notch and it's evident that the staff takes great pride in keeping everything in excellent condition.

The campground itself is spacious and well-designed, offering plenty of room for RVs and other camping setups. They do not allow tents at this park. The campsites were level and provided ample space for my RV, as well as a picnic table. We particularly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the campground, with beautiful views of the surrounding nature. What truly sets this campground apart is its convenient location. Being situated at the Bonner County Fairground, we had the opportunity to explore the fairgrounds and attend any events or activities that happened to be taking place during our stay.

Moreover, the campground is ideally situated to explore the breathtaking natural beauty of Pondray and the surrounding area. I took full advantage of the numerous hiking and biking trails nearby, immersing myself in the stunning landscapes and fresh mountain air. The picturesque scenery and abundant wildlife made every outdoor adventure truly unforgettable.

Another aspect that impressed me was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

They were always available to answer any questions, provide recommendations for local attractions and dining options, and ensure that my stay was as enjoyable as possible. In terms of amenities, the campground had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The electrical hookups were reliable, and the availability of potable water and dump stations made it easy to manage my RV's needs.

Lastly, I must mention the incredible local attractions in the Pondray area. From the nearby Lake Pend Oreille, perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming, to the charming town with its unique shops and restaurants, there was always something exciting to explore. We also had the opportunity to visit nearby national forests and parks, immersing myself in nature and taking in the breathtaking vistas.

I like

Would have said 5 but we had a code on our electric and no way to report it as the host is not here and the phone numbers had full messages so are apparently not checked. Clean restrooms and showers, dump station, nice and quiet. Bonus, there was a Fjord Horse show while we were here. Cool to see the horses.

County fairgrounds

Stayed here a few years ago and today. 33 paved sites, water and electric at each site. Some sites offer shade as the google earth pic suggests. Sites are a little close but are decent size. Reserve America reservations be sure to check site length. There are a few very short ones. We stayed in site 21 and our 34RLSA filled it up. Showers and Toilet in the block house. Pavilion in the center of campground. Nice campground overall 4 stars only for closeness. So many things to do and seen in this area!

Use of space

Bonner County Fairgrounds, Sandpoint, ID

Nice little campground on the side of the fairgrounds. There’s a block showerhouse , that I did not go into and a nice picnic pavilion in the middle of the campground. Basic sites, sorta seems like an afterthought or good use of space. Grass and a few trees, but otherwise wide open. Close to Sandpoint , ID which has some awesome shopping and hiking trails, plus water sports.

Unknown Campground/RV Park

Not very well publicized RV Park. Hopefully, this will help. We stayed here in July. It's a small park and spaces are close together. There is water and power hookups, and a dump station at the exit. The showers are okay. Could use a more regular cleaning.
