Recreation is the name of the game
I would caution those who arrive on a weekend and expect a quiet respite. It is wall to wall huge RV’s and trailers. People are here with boats, golf carts, big outside TV’s and LOUD music that went on until 9:45 at night (camp hosts finally shut down the party scene). Many groups were clearly gathering for a good time. Weekdays may be an entirely different experience. That being said, the bathrooms were outstanding. Great showers (complete with shelves and hooks), and even heated. No complaints here.

Overnight stay
We needed a last minute site for an overnight stay only. Used Dyrt app and found a few sites available. Not able to make reservations online at recreation.gov, so we pulled into the campground hoping one was still available. The gatehouse attendant confirmed there were a few sites available, but she said that the camp staff was not allowed to register a new camp guest or take payment. She directed us to a phone number so we pulled over and spoke to an agent by phone. We only needed one night as we were just using this as a stopover on our way home, but there is a minimum of two nights. We were tired & not willing to drive to another campground, so we paid for the 2 nights. We had site #93 which is not waterfront. More than enough room on gravel pad for our van. Be careful of poison ivy at back of site beyond the pad. A bit of a walk to the restroom. It was ok. Basically clean but needs some general upkeep. Campground gates are locked from 10pm to 7am, but campers are given a code in case they need to go in/out at other hours.

Winfield waterfront campground is open again...
Winfield Campground is open, upon arrival we were told that after 2+ years closed they are finally open again.
This COE park is beautiful, has approximately 80 site of which about 90% of them are lake front. Most sites are VERY large and provide a decent amount of privacy.
Each site has a picnic table, fire ring/grill combo, as well as a separate standing grill and food preparation table. All have electric/water hookups, no sewer, but there is a dump station.
The bathhouses are slightly dated but during our stay were cleaned well daily.
There is also a boat ramp and dock/fishing pier, playground, and unstaffed swimming beach. (All located near sites numbered in the 70's)

Beautiful Property
I stayed here during the flame festival and camped in a tent! Even with lots of people at the event the trash on the property was so well maintained you wouldn’t know it was going on. Great food at the concession stand and the bath houses were TOP TIER. I would totally come back for my own stay anytime.

Nice lake views but not worth it
We had a couple night stay here but left after one night. So the spots all have amazing views of the lake and the sunrise/sunsets and you can walk to the water from the sites. The bathrooms are clean but very spaced apart so our site at 91 online looked near the restroom but was not. The spots all around us had multiple cars/boats/trucks and was packed. So noise was an issue and not feeling safe to walk all the way to the restroom alone. The forest around the park was demolished with trees laying everywhere and we never saw one park ranger checking the campgrounds or driving around. I imagine a good place if you’re just wanting to camp and fish.

Great spot
Nice spot on the river. This is a boat ramp and people are using it. But I stayed sun-fri and wasn’t bothered. There were vehicles that would drive down and turn around. A kayaker put in a boat put in. People visited but didn’t bother me. There are no designated spots. The road in was fine. Mostly paved then its not but easily driven

Beautifully Spacious Sites!
We initially booked this campground because the nearby state park was full. And we are so glad that it was! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this park. All of the sites are spacious and the lake is beautiful. Our site was across the street from the bathhouse (which was nice and clean) with a trail up the hill, but it is like your own private trail since the parking lot is around the corner and everyone just goes in that way. The trail from the site down to the lake is a bit of a hike in the woods and downhill, but nothing we couldn't do. It would probably be easiest to take your canoe or kayak down to the boat dock a few sites down to put in and paddle to the beach at the site. We were able to drag our inflatables down and set up at the beach. We love it here and are thrilled it is open again. We will definitely be planning more trips to this campground.
