Great view and highly unique
Paulk Park is an RV park and campground situated next to a lake and sandwiched between a small municipal airport (with very little air traffic) and a city park. The tent sites aren't really sites, but more of a large field with no discernable separation between each site. The host's pre-trip messages are very detailed and easy to follow. They basically say to find a spot between the road and the lake and claim it, so I opted to stay farthest away from the shower house and my neighbor. When we arrived, there was one other tent camper and no RV's. The wind came in very strong and my distant neighbor packed up and left. On this warm February evening, I had the entire park to myself.
There are not many trees around and the terrain is quite flat so if the wind picks up, it can be very strong. I made sure to stake the tent well so this was not a problem. There were some people in the park on the other side of the lake and a reception was taking place in the event center which is in the same building as the showers and laundry, but once the party across the lake broke up, there wasn't much noise. That is, with the exception of the trains. I'm not sure if it is normal or there was something special going on with the train yard a short distance away, but the trains were blowing their horns every 10 minutes or less throughout the entire night and they are definitely loud enough to keep even a moderate sleeper awake. However, the train noise was really the only negative thing I found about this location. I would definitely come back...with a set of earplugs.

Good for an overnight
Selected campground based on proximity to interstate. Loud traffic drove us to stay inside our camper instead of enjoying outside.
Site was unlevel and took three boards to fix side to side, disconnected from TV to fix fore/aft. Concrete pad was all the way forward on the site while connections were over midway back making it so we couldn’t use both easily. Had to park father back to reach connections which was where the site dropped off (causing us to use extra boards to level). We moved the picnic table back towards the camper, otherwise it would have been by our truck’s doors.
Bathrooms were clean, but dated with rusty stall doors. Be aware there are speed humps throughout the campground. No fire pit on our site, but other sites had them. Not sure if we were allowed a fire as such.
For overnight guests, I would recommend asking for sites up near the front of the park, as they appeared newer and more level, although less trees. I would avoid the row next to the bathrooms on the far side of the lake as they appeared to be the most unlevel, like the one we chose based on the website (site 41). Be aware that some of the outer ring sites in the wooded area on the far side are pull-in sites, not pull-thru or back-in, which could make it challenging if you want to drop your trailer and leave.
We would stay again in a pinch, but this isn’t a destination.

The roads and sites are paved. The wifi is not bad, but no cable TV if that is important. The staff is nice. Grounds are kept up well. The trees are beautiful here with the Spanish moss. Kind of pricey for the limited amenities. The sites are also a little snug for big rigs, but doable. Would stay again

Beautiful grounds and super sweet staff. Sits by a camping world so if you need anything it’s here! Everyone was super friendly. Will come again. It’s near the highway so there is a little traffic noise but that doesn’t bother us.

This has to be one of the nicest parks we have stayed at so far.. Peggy at the front desk was so nice and helpful.. the bath house was clean and big and private.. best I have seen so far.. beautiful scenery and a welcoming duck party! With a few goats to visit as well.. is right off 75 so you do hear the traffic but it's very convenient so that makes up for it.. this place is big and they are doing more to to add on even more comforts.. we definitely will be coming back...

Called outside Atlanta to check for openings, the lady said yes come on down. I booked online and received an email in about 5 minutes, that I would be charged by the credit card I put in. I was told my reservation would be to the left of the door in the night reservations spot. We arrived around 6pm to find other reservations but not mine. It was no biggy lots of spots and easy to find your way around.
