    Fair Harbor RV Park

Private even though it's right off the interstate

Absolutely love Fair harbor! The staff is great, they have a little store that sells amenities and lots of basic camping gear. Have 24 hour laundry, multiple showers with amazing water pressure, and multi stall and private bath houses including handicap access. A private [stocked] lake that toured welcome to fish, without needing a license. They have lots of permanent campers here, who pay their lot rent and have their own electric meter. In a standard RV site all amenities are included, water hookup, sewer, electric with 110, 30 and 50 amp hookups, cable and wifi! As well as little cabins for rent. Also horse stables and storage if you stay longer!

    Fair Harbor RV Park

    Great Park!

This place is HUGE!! As others have said, the sites are a little close together and there's some traffic noise, but neither bothered me very much - I was real close to the road too, so not that bad at all. I was quite comfortable the two days I stayed here. They have a little convenience store with camping gear you may have forgotten (or didn't know you needed!), souvenirs, food, and other essentials. The bathrooms are nice and there are some on-site fun to be had with a basketball hoop and playground.

    Fair Harbor RV Park

Fair Harbor is truly a Fair Harbor for RV travelers!

These people do it alll right from clean convenient bathrooms to a lovely park atmosphere even though RV slots are fairly close together. (Clearly a popular place for many regulars! And i see why with its quality & convenience..close to the interstate exit.) Did i mention the bathrooms were sooo nice & clean with all the helpful details like nice tile seat in each shower and more? They were so helpful and kind on the phone as we were first time/last minute guests on a rainy night making sure we knew which exit to take! Oh, yes and there is a pretty fountain in the little lake just for fun! (Bonus: Cracker Barrel right nearby!)

    Cordele KOA

Ranger Review: OOFOS Shoes at Cordele KOA

Ranger Review: OOFOS shoes at Cordele KOA Journey

    Campground Review:

Right off I75 in Georgia sits a small KOA with TONS of amenities! Being just a block off the interstate I assumed it would be noisy. But all the trees make a great sound barrier and we had a nice quiet weekend and will definitely be back!

This campground accommodates Campers, with spaces up to 90 foot long! (up to 50 amp), Tents, and even offers Cabin Rental! Has a pool, propane fill station, firewood to purchase, laundry room and updated bathhouse. a dog area, wifi and even offers cable, for the people who like to camp inside 😉

Our weekend cost was about $70 for out tent site, there were a few people staying in a camper long term who mentioned they do offer reduced rates. I didn’t get to check on the cabins, but they look super cute from the outside and run $50 a night if you book online.

Nearby attractions (we did not visit) include Lake Blackshear, a manmade lake, with a really cool dam, and Georgia Veterans State Park on one side. They have a marina and beach. And The Andersonville National Historic Site the location of a Confederate prison where 13,000 Union soldiers died.

    Product review: OOFOS SHOE

As a Dyrt Ranger I was privileged to get a major discount on an awesome pair of OOFOS shoes.

I'm telling you now, this is the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet! It's like walking on pillows every step you take! I have arthritis in both my knees and have been having some trouble lately. The day my shoes got here I was eager to try them on, and once I did, they didnt come off the rest of the night! They help with the pain of walking, and my knees havent hurt in a week. I'm in love!

    https://www.oofos.com/collections/men/products/mens-oomg-low-shoe-white-gray

They're made of a really squishy, super lightweight foam. And have a breathable mesh top. I ordered the light gray color, and love the tiny pop of lime green in the logo and little tag to help pull them on. I was hesitant when I seen they had no laces and the rubber strap on top was fixed. But i had no problems getting them on, the mesh is stretchy and my foot slid right in!

My only complaint is that small rocks get stuck in the bottom of the shoe, in the middle tread. But, they're easy to pop out.

They also offer flip flops too, so that will be my next purchase. OOFOS will be my go to shoes from now on!

Use my link for 10% off your purchase!

    Fair Harbor RV Park

    Quiet, easy and friendly!

We stopped her for an over night on our way north. This has to be the easiest check in and set up ever! We made a reservation and they were ready with our map and site. It will listed (not advertisements) all the attractions, as well as restaurants, groceries, post office, medical and vet. Everything you might need. The site was both long enough for our rig AND level..a rarity in our experience. While we didn’t use the park wifi, the cable 100 channel TV is more than just your basic 30 channel line up. The laundry room looked clean (didn’t use the showers). While there seem to be many long term campers, there are plenty of spaces for the travelers. We will definitely be using this campground again for our trips up and down I75. Well done!

    Georgia Veterans State Park Campground

Very nice and worth and extended stay

We stopped here on our way south to Florida out of curiosity.  Earlier in the year, we had been in Cordele to ride the SAM Railway which was based next to the park and had decided to stop on our way back through and check out the campground.  The GVSP is well maintained with alot of open space, lake access and a historical museum honoring Georgia Veterans.  The camping area is spacious with back in and pull through sites.  The roadways were narrow and paved with the sites being gravel and level in most cases.  Sites along the lakefront are a bit more expensive but the lake can be viewed from any site.  Shower houses are cleaned daily by camp hosts and are well maintained.  We were advised by another camper that sites fill up quickly on weekends but are usually available during the week.  We only spent 2 nights (on a whim) but will return for a longer stay in the future.  A great area for biking, fishing and boating.

    Cordele KOA

    4.2 stars

This KOA is just off of i75, super convenient for an overnight stop (which was what we did). Our boys loved the early 80s Era playground, but unfortunately it wasn't kept up well and was frankly dangerous- the large swingset wasn't anchored to the ground, the fence was partially torn down near the roadway, and there was rust on the equipment. They didn't kbiw the difference and played on it for an hour having lots of fun, but it is an accident waiting to happen. The woman who we dealt with at check in was awesome- super nice and friendly, and gave me a teacher discount. Our site was a nice large pull through with a picnic table and fire ring. Setup wasn't difficult. There was some wet dirt, could probably use some gravel. The campground looked to be in a retired pecan Grove. Not a ton of privacy but large sites and nice trees. While you can hear the highway, this one is not immediately adjacent but one property away, so it isn't bad. The property between the campground and the highway is a large abandoned building.. slightly shady but not a problem. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

    Georgia Veterans State Park Campground

    Keep it moving

Georgia Veterans State Park sits next to Lake Blackshear and shares the lake front with a resort. There is a marina , condos and a golf course on resort side. On the Park side there is the much more desirable campground:)

There are plenty of options to choose from in the three camping “loops”. Some lakeside sites have direct access to the water and in camping area 1 you can get pretty close to the fishing pier. A lot of the sites are pull through , in area 3 all sites are pull through and several of the sites border one of the Nature trails. The primitive walk in tent sites are in area 3. There are two handicap accessible sites and two double sites for group camping(the other sites are close together so this just puts you on the same “pad”)There is shade but definitely more on some sites then others. Not a lot of privacy. It wasn’t real busy or noisy so the open layout wasn’t a major hang up for me. This is definitely more of a “organized”, well maintained, military feel campground. I didn’t get the State Park in the woods vibe at all :)

There are rental Cottages which overlook the water some with screen porches. There is a fishing pier behind Cottage one and two.

In addition there are boocoo recreation activities:

Disc golf (a little over grown)

    Pioneer Group campsite

    Aviation and Combat Arms equipment

    A museum

    Model airplane field

Outdoor exercise equipment along with an exercise trail

    Nature trails

    Archery range

    Fishing piers

    Large boat ramp

    Small boat ramp

    Excursion Train

A beach with facilities and shaded picnic area

We only took the time to camp and hike but you could easily spend some time here and do something different every day. I’m unfamiliar with the area and wildlife so I kept the boys on short leashes when we walked in the woods , especially near the water. The trails were nice, somewhat maintained and there was old signage plus benches. Not my favorite this trip but nice enough.

Pecan grove setting: The Cordele KOA offers a distinctive camping environment. "The campground looked to be in a retired pecan Grove. Not a ton of privacy but large sites and nice trees. While you can hear the highway, this one is not immediately adjacent but one property away, so it isn't bad," explains Greg S.

Quiet atmosphere: Despite proximity to highways, many campgrounds maintain peaceful settings. "We really enjoyed our stay. Our site faced the woods with a walking path. What you should know

Interstate noise levels vary: Some campgrounds are better insulated from highway sounds than others. "It is right next to the highway, which is quick and great if you're just pulling in for the night. We camped in a truck but if you're a tent camper you will be hearing the dull roar of the expressway all night if that bothers you!" advises Linda W. about Cordele KOA.

Site selection matters: Some campsites offer more privacy and amenities than others. "Site #52, full hookup site, slightly unlevel but generally a good site. Campground was quiet, and very dark at night. We did see some wildlife roaming as we ventured out in to the park. I will say it was pricey, $60/night," reports Roger L.

Wi-Fi limitations: Internet access can be restricted at some locations. "WiFi here is so-so and you often get booted off. On there website they say WiFi is free with stay. But once we got there we learned we were capped at 1 GB per day. You can buy more for $15," notes Kelsey G. about Fair Harbor RV Park.

Swimming options: Not all campgrounds have swimming pools, but many offer lake access. "Great place to go for swimming, fishing, camping, or hiking!" states Al M. about Georgia Veterans State Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. "My 6 year old had a great time with the other kids and pond and playground. Great facilities and staff," shares Luke A. about Fair Harbor RV Park.

Lake swimming access: Beaches at Lake Blackshear provide kid-friendly swimming areas. "The campground at Veteran's is one of my favorites. Great place for kids as you can ride to different areas to fish of go the 'beach' and let them swim in the lake," writes Andrea W.

Multiple recreation options: Look for campgrounds with diverse activities. "Great park for family fun. It offers a lake for boating & swimming, a beach for lounging, hiking, golf and Sam's Shortline Railroad tour. They also offer restaurants/bar & grill which during the summer offer concerts," notes Kelly W.

Seasonal water features: Some campgrounds have additional water amenities during warmer months. "Love the lazy river! Pool is beautiful! Sites are small though," mentions Karen about Creekside RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Late arrival options: Several campgrounds accommodate after-hours check-ins. "We made reservations and arrived after staff was gone. There was a detailed map and directions to get to our site. Worked great as a stopover to our final destination," shares Timothy C. about Crossroads Travel Park.

Site leveling considerations: Pay attention to site descriptions when booking. "Sites are spaced better than most KOAs that I've been. 27 is a pull through. Plenty long for my 26' class c and toad. Place looked like it needed a little love, but it is January. Maybe it will be nicer in the spring," notes Tim C.

Pull-through availability: Many RV parks offer easy-access sites. "We had pull thru site with full hookups. Everything worked and site was level," states Timothy C. about his glamping in Cordele, Georgia area.

Seasonal pool access: Swimming pools may not operate year-round. "Due to the Covid19 the pool wasn't open or even started to be cleaned since the county won't allow it at this time. We took a ride to veterans state park to the lake and rode the kayaks which were really nice, and the beach area was nice. Once the pool opens, I can see quite a few trips back to the koa," explains Sharon U.
