Throughline/Coal Creek TH dispersed camping is located on BLM land near Paonia, Colorado. The camping areas are situated along Coal Creek Road with sites distributed within the first few miles of the road. You'll find 5-6 established dispersed sites as you drive in, positioned right alongside a slow-flowing river. Be aware that this area is approximately 15+ miles from the nearest services, so plan your trip accordingly with sufficient supplies.

Coal Creek dispersed camping offers a true primitive camping experience with no developed amenities. There are no bathroom facilities, potable water, trash services, or hookups of any kind. The main attraction is the natural setting along the river with spacious sites. Be prepared to pack in everything you need and pack out all waste. Remember that the nearest services are over 15 miles away, so bring all necessary supplies for your stay.

Coal Creek Road is a well-trafficked route that can accommodate various vehicles, though caution is advised. While the first few miles where most campsites are located may be accessible to smaller RVs, road conditions can vary depending on recent weather and maintenance.
