Small with decent sized campsites

A small campground with great sites nestled between Mt Princeton and Antero. A trail from the E end of the campground connects with a railroad grade trail and trails to Antero. I will come back here. No road noise.

Plenty of Aspen and wildlife.

Sites are spread out. Nice shade with plenty of trees. Fish in Chalk creek. Close to St. Elmo. Camp host may be too political. Water is a pump, can't fill RV's directly.

Fire ring, picnic table, trash, pit toilets, tent sites, water, and purchase firewood The gravel road in and there are gravel sites. This is a beautiful campground and the surrounding mountains. Spring and fall will so totally amazing because of the colors. Watch out for the altitude if you are not use to it. We were there in the fall and enjoyed a bit of snow on the way up the mountain to St Elmo's, ghost town If you are able head up to the top of the mountain and stroll around a Colorado ghost town.

Camped here last October 2020

It was amazing and beautiful, close to a lake and close to the town of st. Elmo which is a cool old little mining town.

Nice, Shady Flat Campsites

Stayed here three nights in 2020.  Small campground, near road but actually fairly quiet.  Gravel campsites are flat.  Vault toilets.  Lots of shade.

If you rely on solar it would be better to choose nearby Chalk Lake Campground or Mt Princeton campground just a mile down the road from this one.

Hand pump water source, need a bucket or container to use.  No hose to connect to RV or fill tanks.

Lots to do in Chalk Creek Canyon if you look for it.

It is my favorite in this canyon because of privacy between campsites - lots of trees and bushes.  Also like the gravel at campsites - keeps mud down.

Great for kids and seniors.  Dogs on leashes.

Make weekend reservations in January, Feb, or March - this one is always FULL on weekends and most reserved sites are FULL all weekdays too.
