Clean and quiet place with a friendly host

The grounds were well kept and the host was friendly with information of the area.  No camping fee dropbox as the host will make rounds to collect camping fees.  Campground is approximately a mile from the east end of the town of Pitkin.  In town, there is a very small general store with snacks, ice cream, some very basic supplies, and t-shirts.

Where is Pitkin Campground located in Colorado?

Pitkin Campground is located approximately one mile from the east end of the small town of Pitkin in Colorado. The campground sits in the mountainous region of Colorado's Western Slope, providing access to the surrounding alpine environment. Pitkin itself is a small mountain town with minimal services, including a very small general store. The location offers a secluded mountain camping experience while still being relatively accessible to town amenities.

What is the best time of year to visit Pitkin Campground in Colorado?

The optimal time to visit Pitkin Campground is during the summer months (June through early September) when Colorado's high-country weather is most favorable. This period offers warmer temperatures and generally more predictable weather patterns. The campground's elevation makes late spring and early fall visits possible but potentially chilly, with unexpected weather changes common. Always check road conditions and campground operating dates before planning a trip, as mountain campgrounds typically have a limited seasonal operation window due to snow and access limitations.
