Washboard road to Campground

The campground is located 25 miles north of Steamboat Springs and is at the gateway to Mount Zirkel Wilderness near the Elk River Corridor. Vault toilets, trash, and potable water are here. There are about 24 sites(15 can be reserved) the rest are first-come, first-serve. Each site is pretty…

Winter hike up to Ruby Jewel

A fun snowshoe hike up to Ruby Jewel Yurt. This yurt is secluded in the trees and about a 3-6 hour hike up from the road when it is closed in the winter. This yurt comes with wood, wood stove, kitchenware, water pot for boiling, beds, and best of all a yurt journal (with tons of interesting…

Cozy winter cabin

This cabin is part of the Never Summer Nordic system and would make a good beginner's trip. Nokhu cabin has a stocked kitchen, wood, and wood stove to keep warm during your overnight!

In the winter, you hike up the closed forest service road. I recommend using snowshoes. From this cabin, it's…

Winter Access to Yurt

Easy hike up to Dancing Moose Yurt. This yurt would be good for a family, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The yurt has pots & pans, kitchenware, woodstove, firewood, axe, table and chairs, mattresses, tp, paper towels, and matches.

You will have to hike in your own food and bring…

Elk Meadow

Not a very good campground. Located on a slope. RR are very old and dirty. Staff and Manager or very unfriendly.

Average dispersed camping, at best

There are several camping spots immediately after you turn off of the main highway that are down by the river.  The area had many people already camping there, so we drove about 2 miles up the rough gravel road. We decided to take the first spot we saw, since we were only going to be there for…

Some nice spots

We where able to grap a spot on a overlook, with a great view. If working had excellent Verizon cell service. The site was unleveled but not too bad for a van with rocks and firewood under wheels. Cool nights.

Gorgeous views

Beautiful setting on the mountains. No hookups but that is to be expected in a National park. Deer roam throughout the campground. Animals can be spotted nearby in the valley.

Quiet and Beautiful

We spent one night in an RV site. The campground is about 40 min North of steamboat springs. Well worth the drive. Beautiful views day and night.

Quiet Campground

Nice and quiet right along the river. Excellent hiking in the area. Very small fish but fun to catch and release. I will return.

Positive experience

The bathrooms are very clean and that’s something that’s very important to me. We went the weekend after Fourth of July and the bathrooms weren’t ever crowded from what I saw. Everyone was far enough apart. Their store is well stocked, everyone was helpful. The animals were adorable. Horseback…

No trees, but easy boat and pontoon rentals.

Lake was full, not low like many reservoirs. Campsites were clean but rvs just parked on road next to tables. Some sites had covered tables. It seemed to be windy every afternoon. Close to Kremmling for supplies and shopping.

Wonderful views & great spots

We stayed at Arnica campsite in Sunrise Vista. 3 tents and a car. Lots of access to restrooms & potable water. Lake & shower access is about a mile away drive or 1/2 mile walk on a trail. The park had a lot of events and we did a nocturnal night hike and a star party the next. 10/10

Decent

Clean, well-maintained campground. More suited to RVs and trailers - spent 5 days in a tent. Great access to multiple trailhead sites. Tunnel was spared from the Chamber Peak fire. Arrived on Tuesday after 4th of July holiday and had pick of sites, full campground by Friday. I’d rate higher if I…

Friendliest campground in CO!

Such an amazing and laid back place to camp! With two separate tent area, RV camping, and cabins, this place has it all! The bathrooms are always super clean, there is even an outdoor shower(covered of course) available in one of the tent sections. There are sinks available at both tent sections as…
