Michael and Julia bought their property in Chatsworth Lake Manor in 2011. They remodeled their home into a Poquito Hacienda. In 2016 they bought "Gypsy" the 1954 Spartan Manor trailer and brought her from New Orleans. It took 3 years to create the special hideaway. Michael and Julia are both self employed and they have 2 large dogs, Bella and Loki who live with them in their home right near the hideaway. They love gourmet cooking, travel, hiking and sailing. "Gypsy", our 24 ft. 1954 Spartan Manor vintage travel trailer has a private double bed, kitchen and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen has a gas stove top, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, pots, pans, cutlery and vintage dinnerware. A custom daybed, dining area and library are in the forward "observation lounge".
Outfitted for private, luxurious relaxation the Tiny Tiki Retro Hideaway large cliff-top patio has 2 chaises, 2 armchairs, a loveseat and dining table. Take a nap, enjoy cocktails, tea, coffee or dinner al fresco. The gazebo, with an outdoor double bed is available May 1st to November 1st, or until the rains arrive, then it is tarped. This is a great spot for a group who doesn’t mind getting out of the way of people in exchange for a short hike. Parking is a short but steep hike away from the campsite, and it is unlikely that you’ll see any other campers during your stay. The weather is warm, the sunsets are epic and the views are spectacular looking towards Angeles crest national forest. We do have stoves however open fires aren’t allowed within the city limits, and it is a very high fire area. Stoves and fire extinguishers are available for the cost of fuel as well as full camp gear if you are worried about not having stuff. From the campground you can hike some awesome trails, and be able to really get out in nature. There is water a 100 ft away, and there is a bathtub for the adventurous bather that overlooks the city. There is one restroom as well as one shower stall and a small kitchenette shared with 2 other campsites. We like city locals looking for a place to test out backpacking and camping gear while being 5 min driving distance to a Starbucks.
This LA based bohemian homestead farm is a great camping stop. We have 20 hillside acres nestled in the hills of Sunland / North Los Angeles, CA We have tent only sites with picnic benches, flat soft campsites, no fire pits, but amazing views of the valley and mountains. Very large park for RV, cabin and tent camping. As it's listed as a "resort", we figured it would be pretty upscale. Disappointment upon our arrival. Floods have been in the area and much of the sites were closed and being cleaned?? The road closest to our site was washed away (from earlier reviews it's been months), so a long jog or drive around the perimeter to get us to the pool, laundry and hot tub…speaking of which, the pool, hot tub and laundry facilities all needed attention. You could actually see people's footprints (bottom of pool and on pool and hot tub entry steps)…that much sand, dirt, etc…I didn't venture in. When we arrived, we started driving around to find the best site for our rig. We're a 32ft class A w/20ft enclosed cargo trailer tow. So, all in all about 55ft. Well, that wasn't easy. Most of the park's electric and some sewer connections didn't exist or were "down" for repair. We have yet to actually SEE someone working on these issues. We are currently here and checked in for a two-week stay. After some boon docking prior to our arrival, we wanted all the bells and whistles the park boasted they had. Took us just over THREE HOURS to find a decent spot. Many levels to this park and most didn't have a decent WiFi (we have our own router) signal. Some sites had dumpsters blocking them from being a true "pull-thru". That left us with about two areas to choose from. It's dusty, dirty, and, really, not ready to be called a "resort"….more rustic than we'd been looking for or what website photos showed. We would not recommend this "resort" to anyone. Several folks with dogs they let simply sit outside and bark, poo, etc….strict rules against that, in most all resorts we've ever visited. Unless you plan on tenting, cabin or what have you, it's not worth it. Very disappointing! :(

From zipline obstacle courses to tie dye classes, this KOA easily occupies kids and has teepee and cabin rentals available for glampers, but nice showers, clean bathrooms and a roomy pool area really make this campground 5 stars.
TravelerThis place has a lot of sites available. If you want cell service you have to to the far back towards the top of the park for cell service for phone and streaming. You can purchase their WiFi and use WiFi phone service on your phone if you want to stay in touch with family. Pool was open but not the hot tub. Pool is also not heated. Good restrooms and showers. Bathrooms are heated for those cold days. Plenty of bathrooms around. The campground is trying to up grade and closes off some areas for improvement. Loved it there. There is a bunch of quirky places to visit like Charlie browns, they have a lot of cool stuff to buy. Also has a place to eat while there.

Cool drive to get to the campground. You drive up and down these hilly roads up the mountain to get there. Once there, there's a parking lot that fits about 20 cars. There's about 100 yd hike to the campsites. There's a road that leads to the campsite but it's been blocked off. Only the campsite managers use that road so it's not accessible by RV, just tents. A campsite manager stays in a little trailer overnight so if there's any problems there's somebody there you can go to and ask for help. There's about six campsites and their first come first serve, no reservations. I went during the week and was the only one camping. This place is heavily used for day camping and hiking. There's not a lot of privacy because there's always lots of people passing by who are hiking and biking. You can stay overnight which I did and everything was fine but there's not a lot of privacy. The next day as I was leaving there was another guy sitting up his tent. I bet on the weekends they can fill up pretty fast. It's in Bear country so they provide food storage for each campsite also trash containers too. Each side has a picnic bench and a fire pit. The fire ban has been lifted so you can have a fire. Each fire pit had wood left at it so you didn't have to go searching for campfirewood. Bathrooms included male and female toilets but no showers or water. There's a creek that runs through the campground which makes it very pretty. I saw two to three cabins along the outskirts of the campground that I assume were for rentals. There was one family at one of the cabins the night I stayed. About a 20 minute hike and you can end up at a waterfall which is very pretty. But there are several trails to take for hiking and biking and I saw lots of people doing that. Overall a good campsite four stars. Would have been five stars if they had showers and running water. I didn't see any bears although there was an animal outside my tent at one point in the night I could hear him nosing around. So it's important to keep all of your food and anything with any kind of smell in the bear boxes

This was our first time here. It is close to the 101 freeway, you can hear the traffic, but that didn’t bother us. Just be aware, it’s not a super quiet place. Campsites are concrete pads, level and have a decent area of grass between sites. Each site also has a fire pit. We went here in March ‘21 and half the resort was still closed to covid restrictions. No pool, jacuzzi, playground, transport vehicle to and from town, and game room. Odd, because most of the state was already open. Beach is 5min bike ride either way out of the resort. Great sunsets!!!!
TravelerFun little campground with decent facilities and beautiful surroundings. Lots of trails all around with a nice hike of about 1/2 mile up to Millard Falls that is easy for kids and grown ups. Wild life all over the place and a great stream in the wet season through summer. Park in the lot at end of road and walk 200 yards up the the camp sites. Camp fire pits but check for permits. There is a camp host so things are well managed and clean. Several cabins surround the area even above the falls. Very busy on weekends.

The Point Mugu NAS campground is part of the military MWR program, therefore you need to be active duty or retired from one of the uniformed services, or be sponsored by someone who is.
The campground is located right on the beach overlooking the iconic Point Mugu rock to the south, and a nice quiet estuary to the north that is full of birds, seals, and other wildlife. There is a whole spectrum of camping and lodging options svailable, from simple basic tent camping, to reserving one of their yurts, to car or RV camping with full hookups, to cabins and even a very nice beach motel. All are location by the base MWR outdoor recreation facility which has all kinds of beach and camping gear available to check out, like snorkels and surfboards and more, and staff to advise about local hiking and recreational trips in the area.
The tent sites are very basic and very close together, but the surroundings are worth it! We didnt stay in one of the yurts but hope to next time, they are beautiful and a nice intermediate option between tenting and motel. The RV area is heavily used but clean and nicely maintained, and in a beautiful location right on the beach!. The beach motel iis adjacent, and the cabins are located in a much more secluded area off on their own to the east.
The beach is beautiful, clean and well maintained and not as heavily used as the nearby state beaches off base, which is a real treat
There are a few base eateries and a grocery store on the base just a few minutes drive away so it is easy to restock provisions if needed.
The hiking opportunities within even half hour drive off base from the campground are amazing, lots of state parks, national forests, state beaches, nature preserves and more with incredible hiking trails. This location is also very convenient to Ventura where you can catch a national park ferry to the Channel Islands for day trips.
This campground is highly recommnded, and our favorite go-to place to stay whenever we are in the LA area!

This is a very cool place. We happened upon this place while traveling across the state. It was so wonderful there that we stayed for 2 days. Personally, I recommend going on a road trip, because you can meet incredible months. Even if you don't have a car, you can always rent one from 14CARS
TravelerAnother military RV campground in need of renovation. 10 washing machine and dryers and only 2 worked. Ice Machine broke. Many sites the sewer hook-ups are closed up. right on the beach you cant get any closer. Not much on the base. Just a little NEX. Be warned when the sun goes down the mosquitoes are horrendous. Everybody goes inside to get away from them.
TravelerQuiet and nice 2-day stay. Alexi from reception was super nice and courteous. We couldn’t be more grateful to her! Our lot was secluded, private and close to the entrance/exit. The only thing was the unlevel ground we were on. Our RV was a simple 30’ rental without any leveling. Many peacock’s roam around the premises and they can be very intrusive! Playgrounds, zip lining and a massive bounce pad were all on site. Make sure you hike down to the creek!

Camped out July 21 -22 2019 at Reyes creek campground. We got the last available spot as we showed up late that afternoon. Plenty of fish in the creek. Temp was well in the mid 90s ... it was super hot. We still managed to do a small hike up the piedra Blanca trail to upper Reyes. Trail is brushy in some areas with some washouts in others. Some beautiful shaded areas where we took a few breaks to get away from the heat.
LegendFirst of all this campground is not a campground if you want to get away from people because there is a lot of people passing by looking at you. You can’t really be isolated or have privacy even though it is a campground. People come here to hike into the trails to the waterfall. Which I can say the waterfall is nice. But other than that I wouldn’t recommend coming here to camp. Maybe day use only but not overnight camping. I didn’t camp here but someone else had there tents up and it was overcrowded with people heading to the waterfall.

GuideThis is probably my favorite beach campground yet! Being on the Military base reduces the number of people trying to get to it. The beach is on the base, and has a protected wetland and then shooting range on one side then on the other is the base itself, so this beach is really JUST for those staying on the base or campground. The weather was a little cooler than expected, but we had a blast! We watch seals, ducks and more swimming around the beach. We practically had it all to ourselves. It was quiet and well maintained. I heard they are shutting down for a year or two for a major campground upgrade.

Watching the sun rise and beautiful sunsets. customer Service and knowledge at the MWR are extremely helpful. Lots of beach equipment; Tents, coolers, cook stoves...Surfing gear and bikes to rent. Indoor giant TV to watch and gather with other patrons inside the MWR. Pool tables, ping pong....lots to do here. Or just relax on the beach and breathe in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.

GuideThis is a true jewel of a campground. Not only lots of activities for kids but the views are spectacular of the mountains. Wild peacocks roam this campground. The facilities are well maintained and some being rebuilt after a fire. This location is more expensive than others but the views and facilities are worth it IMO. Warning, currently no dishwashing station and no dumping of grey water except at the dump station at the front of the camp. But otherwise it was amazing.
